I'm at 2.9 on air 1.5vcore, with a 3200+.
Try to take ur memory totally out of the equation, since it doesnt seem good and could still be giving crashes, unless u'v alreayd tried.

I have a neo2 and I have lots of issues with my ram, with the cpu underclocked it does 295mhz 2.5,3,3,7 and into the 310+ with 2.5,4,3,7
But when i try to up the cpu at about 275mhz on the ram I start geting errors and nothing, I mean nothing fixies them at 274 its fine 275 errors, any timing or volts or anything doesn't help really hope this bios is the answer.

I'm in the same boat as 4rory, the slightest increase in clockspeed and i get a wall of errors that voltage can't fix.

My RAM is total crap dude.... It cant go over 210 Mhz :( WOW.. I would never buy corsair again. They suck... I had a chinese Value RAM that I bought for 40 bucks.. a 512 stick with crappy timings like 2.5-3-3-7 and I was able to go over 230Mhz... Now this fancy stick has a platinum heat spreader and it cant even do 210!!! WOW GOOD JOB CORSAIR.....

heh, that's pretty bad ram. I had corsair XMS before, i thought it was good stuff until it crapped out at 220. This TCCD stuff is so much better, it just keeps scaling.... i'd like to try new BH5 but i can't supply enough volts

I've been working an OC of a venice lately. Here are my results but I need some help.

260 x 10 @ 1.53v according to cpuz
Ldt 3x
tccd 3-4-4-8 @ 2.9v
all other voltages stock.
temps 40c after 17hours of prime95

So all is pretty good at this point. So heres my question.

My memory can take 315 fsb at same timings and voltage so I tried droping the multi down to 8.5 x 300fsb. but I never get past the cmos check. when I drop themulti even more to like 6 I can get into windows and prime for as long as I let it run which was like an hour. Not sure if it'll do more.

What do I need to do if I want 300-315fsb x 8.5. I've even tried losening the timmings.

The cpu runs at 2.6 and the mem runs up to 315fsb stable seperately but I can't get these numbers to meet and run together.

The mobo is dfi nforce4 ultra

x.5 multiplier don't work very well

I'm looking in to by a venice. Is ther a preferd steppning I need to look for ?

well 9 x 275 didn't work either. do you have any other suggestions?

Does anybody here have any indepth knowledge of htt and ldt functions and some of the other advanced controls on the dfi mobos? The cpu runs at 2.6 and the mem runs up to 315fsb stable seperately but I can't get these numbers to meet and run together.

will do. I like the board despite all the confusing bios options. At first it wasn't even stable enough to install windows. I had to change the timmings.

Are you using the regular or 5v jumper option on your board? If so, then test out your Mushies in another board to see if they'll still do 1t. I say this because people are finding out that a lot of sticks of UTT are dying due to excessive Vdimms on the dfi......

ReelMonza, BH5 @ ~3.8V (3.7 from bios, DFI NF4)

Everyone seems to have problems trying to get there memory to perform as it can on these core, im praying to god a bios update will fix it, tho i doubt it, what can and can't be fixed with a bios update?

They still do 1T :P Besides, on this venice, I've only been running 3.2v so far... :P I had my 4 sticks of Blue died on my not too long ago with 5v line. Haven't used direct 5v line since than.

Tried 10x270 but after 2 hours stressing ,windows locked and had to use reset switch...:mad:

What do you think about this chip?Is it good or bad??

2600MHz runs fine @ 1.5v (verified all last night), currently priming at 1.41v, also seems OK so far... However, 2700MHz is a no-go at 1.4 - 1.57 vcore, fails within 2 minutes, at 1.5v even within 30 seconds!
Is that really the limit of the CPU? Seems a bit weird that 2600 is fine @ stock(?) and 2700 is impossible to reach?

Having some temp trouble at these speeds, 49C load @ 2.6GHz 1.41v, with an open case.

My Winnie was fine at 2.4GHz 1.65 volt inside a closed case with no temp problems whatsoever, compared to this venice, 2.7GHz @ 1.55v reaches about 62C :confused:

Edit: 2.6G @ 1.41v seems fine... 2.65 fails prime95 within 1 minute.

exscape the Venice tends to run hotter than the Winchester at same voltage. Mine runs around 5.C hotter.

I have a similar wall.

2.7 primed for hours with default Vcore, but 2.8 will not stabilize at any Vcore, tried up to 1.6 and no go. Put on dividers and it didn't help one bit, htt multiplier of 3, bios update didn't help. And everybody else with an APAW is getting good resutls; i feel like there is something holding me back that i can't pinpoint.

1.7-1.8 it's not a problem as long chipset temperature is below 50°c.

For those who got bad eyes it's LBBLE 0517 APQW

Not sure what's up with my 0515.

Primed for 10+ hours with 1.55V in BIOS on air (Zalman 7000A-AlCu).
Switched to water, primed for 6-7 hours with 1.50V in BIOS. Stopped it to get in some gaming.. primed again, and failed after 1.5 hrs.

Boosted the BIOS vCore to 1.525, and it Primed for 12 hours, then failed while I was at work.
Boosted my vDimm to 2.90V and it Primed for 16 hours, and again, failed while I was at work.

The only thing I can think of, is that I leave my door closed and turn off A/C when I'm not home. Venice loves being cooled relatively well?

I just thought of another culprit, my Antec SL350S that I'm using a 20->24 pin adapter with.. It will be replaced soon, but how many others have stable OC's using an adapter? I know DFI "officially requires" 24 pin PSUs, but I'm quite certain this rig is drawing less than my old heavily overclocked P4 rig.

RAM takes it fine, CPU needs to be stabilized a little, and we all know how much
of a role RAM settings play in that when you have the memory controller on-die. :D

yesterday couldn't pass pi32M @2700 and today passed it default vcore stock HSF [32Mb Superpi stable]

I think my mobo keeps me back...Very unstable ,Vcore k8ns sucks :down:

I'm still stress testing my setup. Dunno why the RAM speed isn't showing up. It's 300 x 7/10 = 210 right now. Dropping the vCore makes the chip run quite a bit cooler (about 4 to 6 C), and I also dropped the RAM speed, incase they're holding me back.

My Venice week 16 does not like high volts.

My MSI K8N Neo can go up to 1.85 volts, but the Venice like the Winchester undervolts like crazy giving about 1.73 max @ 1.85. So I modded the board today solving this problem, 1.75 gives 1.75 right now.

But for some reason setting it higher then 1.75 causes it to crash within seconds, the temp is just fine (-48), I've checked the contact and it's fine. Also the mobo is cap modded and I've tried different PSU's.

I know 1.85 volts is bad on a Venice but I need to beat my 40.61 secs PiFast I set about a year ago. It's just sad to set a record and then not be able to break it for a year. I thought a Venice would do it for sure, but now that it is there I think it isn't that good.

The memory controller on the Venice is superb, I can get up to the 275 range with my BH-5 whilst with the Winchester it would crap at about 250 (depeding on HTT).

Is it just a Venice fluke or am I doing something wrong?

Also I think I'm going to return this Venice, it does about 2750 mhz PiFast stable on stock cooling. Which is fine but it needs 1.6 volt to do this.
On phase change it goes up to about 3 ghz, but PiFast craps out at about 2900 mhz (which is just short of breaking my record since my record is set on a Winchester @ 3 ghz but with mem on 133 divider, this Venice can go up a lot higher with mem at 166 divider)

I ordered the CPU with a simple mobo for my MCE, but I think both need to be replaced since the MCE now runs unstable (and the soundchip onboard is crappy, the shop stated it should have soundstorm but it doesn't)

Like everyone else I suppose, I would have really loved to find a 0515 APAW. The PCclub I was at had LBBID 0509 APAWs,....pretty sure these would have sucked like most CBBID winnies. The only APAWs I've ever seen in person...lol.

I've been out of the CPU loop for a while. I currently have a 3500 Winchester that OCs to 2.4 GHz on air. I'm wondering if I should go to a San Diego or Venice? What are the major differences between the two?

The main reason I want to get a Venice or SD is because I want to go to 2GB of RAM.

I've seen both venices and San diegos OC quite nicely......the main difference is of course diegos having 1mb L2 cache, venices only having 512kb.....don't believe a 3200+ san diego exists though so you're saving a chunk of money OC'ing a 3200 or even 3000+ venice to nice speeds comparing to going with I believe the 3500+ is the lowest diego offered.

I've got the same stepping 3200+ as Charlie, week 15. GPBW I think it was. Dig up his thread in the extreme forum if you want to know for sure. Im xp120 + silent fan in a 95*F (I'm NOT exaggerating, looking at an outdoor thermometer setup on my desk right now) room. @ 2550 stock vcore now. And working my way up slowly.


Edit: Stock vcore with a bit of droop (~1.35v) I can do 2600-2633 stable. Bumped it up to 1.45v set (1.4v) trying 2666.


Edit 2: First time using a DFI nf4, and I've hit a very very strange wall. @ 2700mhz I seem stable, but @ 2733 Programs start crashing. For example, taskbar crashed on me. I tried bumping LDT volts to 1.3v, didn't help. Tried bumping Chipset volts to 1.6v, didn't help. Anyone able to help me out? I know this chip has more in it, and suspect I could hit 2800mhz prime stable with ~ 1.6-1.65v if I could get around this wall.


Edit 3: 2694mhz prime stable 1hr+ never errored. 2701mhz Prime error and/or program error and/or reboot within three minutes. Im almost positive it's something with the board, but 270+ fsb isn't stable with 10 multi and ram @ 166 (5:6). I'll try 9x multi later tonight.

edit 4: removed one stick of ram so Im running 1x512 single channel now. 2733 and climbing.

Guys, I remember reading about some low multiplier bug which allows you to get some crazy 400+ HTT. Can anybody tell me what multiplier is that?

I mean the multiplier. I think I remember reading before that the 4 or 5 multi will produce some sort of "bug" that allows you to get some very high HTT and to get a "legit" HTT, you need to use higher multi. What I would like to know the multi which causes the "bug" :toast:

switched to 3/10 bios and dropped ddr top 150 (for testing) Im priming 2733 @ 1.55v (1.52v usual. Lowest I've seen in casual checks is 1.50v). This is with dual channel DDR. It's Just a hiar shy of 100*F in here today, so until I rig my a/c up. This is as far as Im going. I'm 90% sure I can hit 2800 prime stable with a bit more volts and less heat.

FINALLY found my problem.

Ram that did 250 @ 2.6vdimm on my old board needs 3.2vdimm to do 245 on this one. I hope gigabyte hurries up with my RMA. I like this ram and dont want to replace it AND my video card to keep this DFI.


On a good note, Priming away, just past 2800, at 1.65vcore. Gonna try and hit 2850, very very doubtful I can get 2900 prime stable on air, at least not in summer. I'm at 52*C now and I'm not going to buy a high flow fan just to test my chips max.

A/C is in now though so I might get my room down to 80 and lower that temp.

My 3200+ looks like it'd need ~ 1.675v real volts for 2833.

..and my BPEW need 1.40*110% (1.5V in Win) for 3056MHz to be S&M stable :D

Tried burn-in higherøx??

I was messing around today tring to go for high overclock since I have my airconditioning on and my computer over the vent, I tried higher vcore but still my computer just shutsdown... hope msi will release there new bios some time soon.

Anyways I figured can't go up lets go down, so I started dropping the vcore, the max I can drop it in windows with clockgen is 1.1vcore and I ran superpi 1 mil no problem lol at stock speeds but im goan see how far it will go at these voltages, temps are really low 30~ idle and +3c more for load. lol

When this motherbaord (msi neo2) gets to 21c it shows -1 lol

prime stable for 30mins so far
