According to their site, they only make one type of X800XL and thats the VIVO model  and why would they not use the same powercolor branded cooler like the VIVO ?Quote:

That's a 10-4, good buddy. AGP ones seem to clock about the same, but they have a HUGE PCB compared to their PCI-E brethren.Quote:

well some news....
i ll get into phase change buisness so i didnt get any time to bench now only some for playing league online games :D
so i m building my first onDie+dualevap systems and i m just getting the components now i ve got some good connection to a very friendly person whos in the buisness and he gets me all components i need.
have a friend who can make the evaps maybe i ll do it myself and he only gives me material.
I got my money so i m pretty happy and i ll get that stuff very very! soon. I m looking forward to build my own phase change since a own a mach2 which ll be filled again with r404a.
so give me some time and i l give ya the 7k :D
seEn
PS. maybe my friend eradicator could do it b4 me :D
I wish you the best on your journey to 7k, I know you can do it.. Speaking of dual evap, I scored a 1/3rd hp low temp compressor, and will be ditching the 1/12th and 1/5th cooling my gpu/cpu respectably.. Lets makes some XL history and show those big boys what a mid range card really can do :DQuote:

Some serious tweaks you know about that i don't :p: You're pulling more frames than me with 300 less MHz but just using low latency, very well done (granted you have 1mb l2, 300 MHz doesn't make up for this?). I have 4.12's, fresh XP install, realtime, run it dl,ll,ch,dh,lh,n,cl....3200MHz, memory 291 2.5-3-3-6, 450/555 and i score 32,000.....is that even right? To me it seems that UTT isn't worth en extra 1000+ points with 300 less MHz to CPU, but i just don't know. Even my x850 XT at 600/600 ties the top XL at 3200MHz! I just don't know what i'm doing i guess :p: Awsome job regardless, i have much respect for hardcore benchmarkers, they truely earn those marks with the tweaking they do.Quote:

Looks kinda low... even without tweaks on Win XP that 3200MHz CPU should do pretty well.
I decided to throw it in my FX-55 on air while it waits to be sold, and see how much of a difference the 1mb L2 cache made. I ran it at similar clock to Charlie, only using TCCD and XP, as you can see, Win2000 DX8 + UTT is good for almost 3000 marks, pretty crazy stuff. And looking at this score, i can see i had a bad Nature run, cause i used the same clocks, granted i did have different drivers.
With FX-55 on air.
So what exactly is stopping ya from running this? :pQuote:

I'm running XP with nothing in the backgroud at all. There's like 13 services running at startup, so it isn't that. I will try the tweak. I did use cat 4.12's, and i don't plan on doing win2000, wasn't it supposed to be worth only like 400 points or something?!Quote:

I really like the tweak for phase too. There's no recovery period or waiting between tests ( except on the card), as idle temp is the same or 1 degree higher (for me), than loaded.
He said he tested 430/560.....i did mine at 450/550, i don't think it's worth that much more for clocks on the card. Not to mention, i tested with pretty high MHz myself, 3200MHz and 2850MHz respectively.Quote:

Look at the driver version that most of the better scores are using, notice anything?
Well i'm using 4.12's same as everyone. And i don't own a copy of Win2000, so i don't follow you.
Edit: This is what run i am talking about. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8558104
Gotcha, thats the right version in that run. I was seeing .6517's in the other's. One thing you might check is to see if the card mem timings are the same (if you can find that info), as other XL's. There might be a difference with your card.
Are you on a bench partition?
Nature is very much about the card but the CPU plays a part, more than some might think.
Did you ever find some LL/BH-5 ram to play with?
I give up on stock air, i can't get any better than this. Nature goes up, another test goes down, grrr. I'll go for more at a later point.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8558672
Still good enough for top 10 at ORB i guess

This is my Best on stock air. thought I was doing good untill i saw some of you guys on here :P
Stock air still. Various clocks, mostly 447/557 area. If I had 3.2Ghz I guess I'd be doing a bit better
You're still killing me in Nature. I can't figure it out. 1/4 runs i'll get a decent score for my clocks, around ~220, but the other runs are way lower, 207 or so. And this is 1/4 times i kill the mark and restart it, not just 4 back to back runs. And in my order, nature comes towrds the end. I guess i'm not doing terrible in Nature considering i am only clocked to 450/550 stock air?Quote:

Well i'm sure you're running each test by itself. I run mine dl, ll, ch, dh, lh, n, cl....and if you re-run cl 5-6 times alone you can get a freak score that'll boost your overall. You can't save a run, and then complete it later on or anything like that, must all be done at a time (not in a row, but at one bench sitting, obviously you can wait between tests), but of course you can re-run the tests. Only thing is, if you get a worse score, you're stuck with it, or you must run again. I'm obviously not the best bencher myself, but my hardware manages to keep up alright.Quote:

Nature loves mem speed on the gpu, my 230-240 is with 600 mem speed.
C
You XL folk ever mess around with the timings? My Pro did pathetic out of the box, couldn't even hit 540. Loosened the tRP to 6 to hit 580 and eventually 7 to hit 590. The GPU core being at such high speeds demanded high memory bandwidth and didn't seem to care about the latency hit.
No, that is artifact free.
Does my nature look about right for the clocks though? It's not like i've got an exceptional clocker here, it's on stock air without tweaks.
Gautam, i'll give the memory a shot, see if i can't boost that. Thanks for the tip. Last time i tweaked memory on my x800 AGP it didn't do so well :p:
Try bumping up the AGP bus speed to 70-72ish. Should give you a couple of FPS, as does giving priority to the video card's IRQ via the registry. Don't expect miracles though.
The memory tweaks only work out if your memory is crap, the way mine is. Your X800 was too damn good. :D Might get you close to 600 out of the XL tho.
My XL is PCI-E, so no bumping of the agp bus. I'll definetly give those mem tweaks a shot, gotta see how far i can take that bad boy. It's just for a daily gamer, so if it doesn't clock better i'll certainly live. Thanks.
Can you elaborate, please. :)Quote:

Yeah. I always used 8 before, but it didn't really help any. As I said, try your video card's IRQ instead. That gives a tangible bump.Quote:

What speed do you get ?
Here's mine under some crappy air cooling. Might as well put this chip to use before it's gone. Nothing special, no tweaks or anything, just daily settings.

Hmmm just tried benching with it on 3dmark03 and it seems to recognize it as x800 series.. not x800 xl. Well it made it through at 435/570 with room to spare it seems... not bad for stock.... the score is pretty crap though with a stock 3500+ Newcastle and generic memory :)
http://www.jpop.com/x800xl.gif
i don't get it...everyone here you get at least 540 on memory...mine sux out at 520.
How big is the chance of getting a PowerColor X800XL VIVO with 1,6NS ram? And is the PowerColor good?
probably slim now. Most if not all recent powercolor are 2.0ns ram. Powercolor is just fine. They are a major manufacturer of ATI cards and have been for some time. Up there with Sapphire I would say.
Having a little trouble getting this new setup stable and cpu speeds are not where I'd like it to be... looks like I have a crappy overclocking XL, I want to at least break 500 core....
Well not too bad for preliminary results...

That 3200mhz CPU speed makes a big diff, eh? Mine at 510/630 on my 3500+@2.65ghz pulled a 13.4K. I haven't tried it with my San Diego yet.Quote:

I am going to have do some serious benching. I am geting way behind.
How on earth is every1 scoring so high on these cards...Mine at stock scores 26800 in 3dmarks 2001....What drivers or tweaks is everyone doing to score so high???
Reading through this thread is a good start. There are a lot of tips given, about "how" to bench 3D. Just to go over the basics:Quote:

Thanks guys, you two were my peers - well, targets for the last month!
One thing I did learn - competetive benching is toooough. my poor x800xl...she weeps with pain...
Also hope this helps put to bed the myth that the 6800gt is a better card. these x800xl's are pretty darn good, and quite the bargain. this one was $254.
now to snag a couple more points for an even 37k, then see If 03 and 05 are within reach.
Wow congrats! 585 on the core is fantastic... I can barely get 500 on mine :( you got an awesome deal on that card!Quote:

Just AWSOME...
lol good idea do that b4 it dies, nice scores.
it is a connect3d from teh monarch $254 sale, 2.0ns, early 05 core. gave it teh vgpu/vdd/vddq mods, it is cooled by a custom R22 phaser built by Eradicator
and happy - wow - if I was you, I would be saying the same thing! I mean, I have killed my fair share, goes with the territory, but wow!
Just killed a stick of ocz rev.2 to. :stick: , i went to my freinds house for benching yesterday poped out his vx poped it in and forgot to clear the cmos woot 3.7 3.8 accaul. Now that stick won't post. That was human error the majority of those things on that list arent. :woot: Its been over 1k this month oh well i accauly considering stoping ocing when i found out my a64 was dead. That thought lasted a whole 5 seconds. lol
hehehe I had the same thought when I had my nightmare build with my DFI NF4. Once I got it all working however The first thing I did was OC it and have never looked back since. I am already thinking of ways to get more out of my system.Quote:

What did you get to replace the bad one I sold you, Wayway? (You should be getting your money back tomorrow or the day after)
My XL pulls mid-13s in mark03 at 490/600 and 2.8ghz on my SD. I haven't done a max OC 510/630 run with my San Diego yet. I'm to addicted to WoW......
this is a sapphire ultimate x800xl i got off indygamers
thanks
I will hit 14k with a volt modd hopefully hit 540 on core and 600 on the memory
hows WoW im thinking of getting it.
540 core - that will take some doing! Once I finish with my CPU OC, I'm going to start working on breaking 14K.
WoW is incredible, maybe to much so. It becomes more of a way of life than just a game to play. I don't know anybody who plays it who has become totally addicted to it.
tronik ... 580 mhz ... :slobber:
585 ;-)
wayway, you wont hit 540 on the core with any less than chilled water, no matter the voltage. in the next couple days Ill be setting up this card on water for 24/7 game use, and If I get 500/585 100% stable for 24hours 3dmark I will be very, very happy. or hell, maybe I will sell it. anyone interested in the top card? ;-)
_TRONIK_
good job...
Yeah, I was stuck at 33K being on AIR and such... but I tested the x800xl on DI and hit 550/600 pretty easy, and my GPU DI rig is only good for about -20C...
I actually think the X800xl can go 42K with an FX @ 3500mHz and the x800xl on cascade.
C
I'll bet you are right Charlie - the colder I got, the more clocks came out. It was also loving the volts, and would really benefit from a OVP mod.
Ill bet a pair of these x800xl's makes for a killer budget AMR setup - 32 pipes, round a gig of cpu, and 2.4ghz of ddr, probably like a mini Fudo!
what is it about the FX's that makes them faster clock to clock?
oh, and you got PM
on the fx's and san diego the 1M cache gives BIG extra points for 3D!!
C
that's it? jsut the 1mb cache? it always looked like the FX's scored even more due to some other reason...yeah they overclock like no one's business..but i though there was somehting else...didnt it have another pin, 940?
i think i got a better card than most of u then i know i dont need chilled water cause i can hit 500/600 with 1.48v pencil moddede .
So i know i can hit 520-540 with 1.5-1.6v
This card was pick for a review by sapphire , so thats maybe why its good i have no idea.
thanks will post some more benches tomm , when the vr's get soddered on.
