During the event world champion overclockers – Eric Kronies, Charles Wirth and Sami Makinen – will be able to set new world records with the RADEON X850 XT with 512MB of memory. Typically top overclockers use extreme methods, such as nitrogen cooling, to boost performance of graphics cards.

There famous! There also getting the first 512mb card to play with! Hopefully it overclocks like a champ too! I dont see how 512mb alone will help but higher clocks will for sure. It would be nice to see r520 but I kinda doubt that now, heard NDA for that wont expire till May, but thats only a couple months away and we already got some hints on it anyway(see other threads)

Just my 2 cents: Technically the first 512 cards were NV Quadro 4400s in pci-e, but it's not exactly like anyone can get one so...

Nope, nice try though ;) . The first 512MB Video Cards was launched by 3dlabs in March 2003 as the 3dLabs WildCat VP990 Pro, a year before Nvidia :D

Though if you meant first vid card with more than 256mb for PCI-e, Nvidia STILL wasnt the pioneer there. 3dLabs Realizm 800 came out one month before in June of 2004 with 640MB of vidmemory :eek: and PCI-e Ready :up:

You guys think that AMD will show off their new dual core A64 processors at this opportunity? I suspect it may be a little early but who knows. The 90 nm fabs are ready and they actually have working dual core chips at 2.4 Ghz. Should be here by summer. Hard to imagine what a dual core FX based CPU would do being equal to around 4.0 GHz on a single FX. Lots of changes on the horizon.

Texas is an hour behind NY so it is only 8:48 in the morning their. I would expect more info by the end of today then right now.

Something tells me there won't be an R520 showing, just a gut feeling, hope I'm proved wrong.

EDIT: Would be funny if they pulled a Steve Jobs, and at the end end end of the show they said "and one more thing" and whipped out an R520. That would be comedy platnium.

I'm still going on my guess that if it were to be showcased it would be after they gave those cards to fugger, opp, and macci to OC the living crap out of, they bust ou a righ which beats them all in whatever WR they set.

I think if ATI is smart, and I believe they are, the OC competition is going to be with R520s, with the best sets of cooling in the world... imagine the publicity they will receive with the world's best OCers with the world's best cooling systems on the world's best video card!

time will tell and to me the dust wont settle until monday, or until CeBit.

Here's hoping the R520 will use ritalio for all us AGP peoples :toast:

Managed to volt mod the FX 5950 after 4 goes :rolleyes: due to drinking two bottles of wine, now at 1.70v

Sadly I cannot now uninstall the 53.03 drivers someobody who shall remain nameless kept harping on about :rolleyes: Keeps saying this driver is needed

I just had a chat with runmc, he was there also.

But it was not what they were expecting.
Opp is bored as hell...and they are all very pissed at the new mobo they got from ati.
Problems with booting etc...Opp said he could not break any new records without the NF4 :p: .
It was also very quiete, not much people were there.

Anyways, they are going to play with the LN2 today, so macci might pull of some things today..but don't expect any new records.
