I've tried G.Skill TridentX 2666CL10, first one stick, then two sticks, in the red slots, but it's still exactly the same. Should I try some PSC or BBSE or do you have another idea?

@Raja@ASUS:
Asus Z87-Pro BIOS 1405 BUG
When you have Gemalto USB smart card reader connected to USB port on the board backplate and a Gemalto .NET smart card inserted the system hangs at POST and won't continue until smart card is removed from the reader. If you remove the card it continues with booting.
Still the same bug present as in 1007.

You need to tighten third timings and second to beat the 2133 divider scores. That's assuming you can get the DDR3-2400 ratio perfectly stable with a tight enough set of timings.
Memory performance is not just about frequency and primary timings.
is it a haswell way to do ? because with my ivybridge i don't need to tighten third timings and second to beat the 2133 divider scores
thanks
Try it. What have you got to lose?
i guess trrsr is off,set it manually at 4 and see what's up :)
thank you so much RAJA & Alex it works

Link to BIOS 0038? Was just about to update to 0903 but if yours is newer/cooler let me know. 0404 is being flaky for me, won't save my Boot preferences so it tries to boot from a different drive everytime, randomly the PC turns on by itself after shutdowns, etc.
^Here you go man

I see Shammy @ kingpincooling have new beta bios for M6I
0063 http://www.mediafire.com/?dtq8eeuz2uorbx7
I noticed :p:
My board is still behaving oddly. Doesn't save my Boot preferences, even when everything but my boot drive is disabled it still gets screwy and tries to boot DVD drive etc.
Prime/Linx stable settings sometimes won't boot, basically nothing will run 1T no matter clocks/volts on anything. Tried 3 different kits now.
Would anyone be able to upload a 4.6GHz or higher profile to download or just post settings for 4770K + Impact?
I think my board is a little flakey but I might just be noobing it up with some voltages. I haven't really OCed much since X58 days and then just a little during 2500/2600K on P67 to get a 24/7 stable clock.
Raja,
I'm interested in picking up an Asus Z87 board, but I want to make sure I get one with a C2 stepping chipset. I have read about how the model numbers of boards with the C2 steppings now end with a 5 although according to a thread on Hardocp it seems like boards in the US may not be changing over to the new model numbers. What I'm wondering is the Z87-PRO(V EDITION) all C2 steppings since it is a fairly new board? Thank you.
As far as I am aware we have been shipping C2s on all new stock for a while (all boards). Anything not C2 is probably stock at the etailers. Should be C2 at this point really. If not you can return it, if you are affected by the USB 3.0 bug - not many people are.
I'm not quite getting the answer I would like so, let me ask the question a different way. Were any of the Z87-PRO(V EDITION) boards made with C1 stepping chipsets? In other words is there any chance if I bought that model that I could get a C1 stepping chipset? I do understand that I would be unlikely to be affected by the problem, however, since there is a fixed stepping out I want the fixed stepping. I would also really prefer to not have to return a board, but would rather just get one with a fixed stepping in the first place. Thank you.
Best ask the store I think. I do not know off the top of my head what was C2 or not.
Could use some help with a couple issues I'm having with my new build.
Contains Gryphon (1603), 4770k, 4x4gb corsair vengence 1600 (at 1333 atm), Sammy 840 pro (latest firmware), xfx 7970, seasonic x650, win 8.1 x64 pro.
No tweaking or overclocking of any sort yet (other than flashing the latest bios and installing all the drivers from Asus website.)
1.) Machine boots to bios every time. Selecting bios boot menu (f7) and clicking the default boot device (uefi windows boot manager entry) allows it to boot up to the os.
I've tried changing all the related settings in bios, that I'm aware of anyway, but nothing has any effect on this behavior.
<edit 11/23> This issue was apparently related to my old alienware xtact keyboard. This device requires 2 usb connections. When I unplug the secondary usb, which only controls the lights afaik, the board boots right up to windows. Given the age of the keyboard I'd wager that the chances of anyone bothering to figure this out and fix it are approaching zero. Time to shop new keyboards.
2.) Machine does not go to sleep. Ever. I can put it to sleep manually but it will not go to sleep by itself despite being set to do so.
I've looked over the W8 power menu and disabled wake on scheduled task but the machine still won't sleep.
<edit 11/23> This issue went away when I uninstalled AItweaker3.
Had to use the venerable "unlocker" to nuke the last of it.
No idea which section of the software package was causing the problem and I doubt I'll invest any time in figuring it out.
I learned better than to install crap like this back in the NF7-S days but I thought perhaps it would have improved by this late date.
Apparently not.
It seems to be a stout board and it runs great but I have to get these basic functionality niggles straightened out if it's going to stay on my desk.
Any suggestions welcome.
<edit 11/23> Basic functions now working well. While my use case doesn't require it, I may even try ocing it a bit at some point.
Because XS. :)
Hi All,
My Asus Maximus VI Gene will not post past code 71. I've tried everything but a differnet CPU since I only have 1 socket 1150 CPU.
I tried, various RAM sticks, different PSUs, reseated the CPU, placed Mobo on cardboard, new CR2032 battery, dirrent video cards, etc.
What do you all think it is since it can only be the CPU or the Motherboard.
Hi guys, I need a lot help. What BIOS is the best for LN2 for M6F? I cant broken 5850 MHz with 32M and with Win7 64-bit. This chip must be 6.2-6.3 GHz (5 GHz air 2c/2t 1.44V in win7 32M), could be the issue in non right BIOS or in WIndows7 OS? XP can help me over 400 MHz?!
Code 71 meant the CPU went/is bad. RMA'd with Intel and the replacement is en route and will be here tomorrow.
Hey guys merry Xmas and Happy 2014 !!!
I come to ask for some help before i unmount all my rig over my dimastech
I have a M6Formula brand new a 4770K, SEASONIC X-1250W PSU, OCZ and TeamGroup SSD well all was working excellent on asrock, giga and msi boards. Today i put the M6F and at first 99 then A2 codes with the R9 270 ON...so i did all the combinations, even using rog flash, switched mem, ssd..same story...So i pulled out VGA and started working ok....Now put VGA again and i have same A2 or AE with NO SIGNAL...So took that card out put my 780HOF clear CMOS and SAME...Oh man its driving me crazy...
Maybe i should remount CPU ? i should say that on the first start of the board i smelled like PCB burnt stuff but like comming from the RAM sockets...but it was really weird. It works all fine except that only with ONBOARD VIDEO.
Any help i appreciatte
Cheers !!!
Sergio
I tested at M6F Asus R9-270X DCII OC and it was OK. Which BIOS have you? And brand of GPU?
thanks mate...it only works if i put a normal VGA with no PCIe current...i tested all and also remounted CPU, if i put any other normal VGA none works, not onboard, not on the VGA...wish it aint my brand new SEASONIC
BIOS latest / MSI R9 270 Gaming and GALAXY 780HOF
with a zotac 8400GS works...
just changed PSU to the 1200W HOF and same thing :( RMA mobo i guess
did you tried GEN2/3 manually in BIOS? Is it the same with this?
I used BIOS 0804 with R9 270x, after flash BIOS you can try change it from AUTO for GEN3.
http://pctuning.tyden.cz/ilustrace3/...1030182600.jpg
just tested your method and no way it gives A2 stays there, updated BIOS 804 and same thing...3 VGA R9 270 /280 and 780HOF and it ONLY works with a crappy 8400GS no PCIe feed needed, 2 NEW PSU, chip remounted...hell i hate this stuff
well end of the story RMA...went to the distributor direct they tested and fan controller was fried...i think something else also of course...so i got a new one :)
and with new is everything OK?:)
Does anyone have any suggestions about what to set the Gen3 Compatibility Mode option to (right under NB PCIe Configuration - PEG-ASPM)?
Should it be set to Mode 1 or Mode 2?
With the latest BIOS for Z87PRO the board still does not boot if a smart card is inserted in a USB smart card reader.
I reported it here for version 1007 when the board came out in June 2013, I reported to tech support as well, but they closed the case without explanation. ASUS tech support sucks, and this is the last mainboard I have bought from them and I will never recommend any other ASUS product to anyone I know because of this.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Hello
This type of issue requires one on one support between you and an ASUS tech acting as a go between to the engineers. Raja is the only ASUS employee offering tech support in this thread and his responsibility is for North America only. You need to contact ASUS support for your location.
Does anyone know why my voltage is sticky? Here's what's happening:
Latest Bios for my Maximus Impact.
Started from default settings then did the following:
CSM support off, Fast boot enabled, Rapid Start enabled, CPU Fan set to Ignore.
Multi Core enhancement Off, Sync All Cores at 45x, turn off EIST and disable C States, set vcore to 1.258XX or sometthing, Ring min and max set to 36x, ring voltage is on Auto.
Here's the problem, my vcore does not get set to whatever I set it to in the Bios, depending on how low or high I go, it jumps from 1.248 to 1.264, to 1.280, to 1.296. So if I set it somewhere in between, it will simply go to one of these Vcores depending on what my chosen number is closest to. This is reflected in the BIOS and within Windows.
Is this normal operation for Z87 or Haswell?
I have been told that already and I understand the logic behind it.
However, as I said before, I have already created a support ticket on the website once and it has been closed without explanation. Just because I have nothing better to do than to beta-test ASUS products for free instead of using them as intended, I have submitted an issue again, this time using "Contact Us" form for my location (which is the same as the one I used before, except it shows in different language).

Problem description
When Gemalto IDBridge CT30 (formerly known as PC USB TR) USB smart card reader (https://www.gemalto.com/products/pc_...rs/#PC_USB-TR0) is plugged into any USB port, and Gemalto IDPrime .NET 510 smart card (http://www.simagine.axalto.com/products/dotnet_card/) is inserted into the reader, the PC hangs at boot displaying blank screen and it does not proceed with boot until the smart card is removed from the reader. This is a BIOS bug present since the first version of the BIOS with which the motherboard was shipped. Please fix.

Hi, having a problem with my Asus Z87 deluxe/4770K system, graphics is Asus 290X. After watching a few short youtube videos, I open a new video and the screen is black, but the sounds still works and I can use the rest of the system. Only the player screen is black not the whole screen. The only way to fix is to reboot the system, then it works for a while then same thing happens.
There is also another symptom of same issue if the system is put to sleep sometimes I get a blackscreen on wake but I still have audio.
I have tried reinstalling windows from scratch, I have also tried different graphics cards but same problem.
SOmething like that is down to:
1) Instability - memory or CPU.
2) Driver issue.
-Raja
Hi Raja,
It seems you are fairly accurate. I did some further testing and it looks like a memory problem, It works OK at stock settings but This Z87 platform is very flaky with any kind of overclocking. Oh well I might have to try devils canyon.
Just playing with my L331C501 chip on Asus M6F and Team 2666C11 double-sided MFR.

@ Raja ...
After searching this thread, the last instance found for 'ASUS Mini Bar', regarding permanent startup loading disabling, was that it was perhaps going to be patched
Is there any patch yet, or, any other workaround ... I only want to prevent the ASUS Mini Bar from re-loading on startup as an enabled feature / widget ... not the entire ASUS AI Suite III / 3 ...
FYI - I am using the Z87-A and have not installed any ASUS updates of any kind ... the PC builder did not load the ASUS s/w prior to delivery last June and I have only done that myself recently ... from the original, supplied DVD-ROM.
My 30JUN14 inquiry with ASUS T.S. on what updates I should be pursuing (in addition to what EZ Update now offers, attached as a JPG) has gone unanswered ... so far.
Thanks
Raja,
Do you know why the read and copy scores on the M6E are much faster with the same ram sticks at the same clock and ram timings than on the STZ87? Even though on the M6E the ram was running at 9-11-11-31-2T and on the Sabertooth it was running at 9-11-11-31-1T. Both were running at a clock of 39/39.
Any ideas in getting the read and copy scores up to what they were on the M6E would be appreciated. I have seen people with the Sabertooth Z87 with the same ram post scores that are the same that I got on the M6E. I never could get a stable overclock on the M6E so I returned it and got the STZ87. Also I have had two STZ87 motherboards and both had the same read and copy scores.
M6E

STZ87
http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps8e3bcacb.png
Running the same ram on the STZ87 at a clock of 47/44 did not even change the read and copy scores, but the latency did improve.

As far as I can't see, Maximus VI Impact doesn't have the BIOS Flashback option.
Is there any other way to force the board to flash the BIOS without it actually booting?
@ Raja ... bump of this post
