So 1.163 will be available when the GPU needs it but just like GPU-Z says it will normally use 1.121 - 1.129V for stability (the 1.121 - 1.129 was during furmark)

Guys with my Asus GTX580 I can't go past 900Mhz core. It always freeze with first 3DMark2011 test. Is it possible? :(
I tried @ 1.138V!
Damn, I found it is "fan" related. Setting it @85% let me to go last test (with freeze :().
Is my GTX580 damn bad or do I have a temp. problem?
This is the screenshot from NVIDIA Inspector:
http://digilander.libero.it/m4puni/GTX580_nv_insp_1.png
I think I have found the reason. @1.05V as in the screenshot it goes @95°C after 5 min. of stress test.
So the question is: is the stock cooler so bad?
i thing 95° is really hot, specially with only 1,05 volts.
mine is just too noisy when i push the card too far, it can handle the Mhz, but i cannot handle the noise, i'm hesitating to go for AC accelero Xtreme, don't know if memory cooling will be as good as it is today...
Could you please post your GPU Tool ( http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...Preview_1.html ) after few minutes of stress test (full screen)?
Guys, do I need to flash my 580 to get higher voltages or just use the unlocked AB? Or both?
My current 580 is lucky to bench at 930 maxed out 1.138v but I have another one coming that should be better so I want to do some SLi runs while I have both then sell the weaker one. The I will lean on the better one with mods and an mcw80 .
Any help would be great.

Where do u have your radiator? Load temp.?
That's some expensive carpet.
2 rooms down.. 1st radiator+360mm fan offloads the heat before it gets to the 2nd radiator submerged in water.. thinking of adding a 3rd radiator this one refrigerated
cpu load @ 60/low 60s
gpu load @ anywhere from 30s-50s
for the last few weeks i havent bothered to check on temps at all.. am just enjoying the system
My Vantage score is P34400 with a Core i7 950 @ 4.21ghz and GTX 580 @ 950/4400. on default Performance test. I would imagine your score should be higher right?? My CPU scored 72700 so that is why its higher, GPU was slightly lower than yours though. Take a look at page 19, that's where my post is at.

Guys, I just flashed a Galaxy 580 with the Asus bios and everything seems good except during first tests in XP the 3D06 SM2.0 score is highest at stock clocks and drops every time I increase the clock speed, what would cause this?
3800 782/1564/2004 27880 (10470-13598-7880)
3800 800/1600/2004 28045 (10277-13972-7880)
3800 820/1640/2004 27548 (9717-14003-7862)
I tried a cpu overclock in case of a limitation showing and got the same trend, just a higher score:
4500 782/1564/2004 32443 (12267-15690-9231)
4500 800/1600/2004 32208 (12021-15655-9262)

Hey guys,
My bday is coming up before the end of march and I think I'll gift my self a GTX580 ( coming from a GTX285 ) Altho my brand optios are extremely limited to whats locally available in my place but Im looking at something like Palit, Inno3d, EVGA and probably Asus/MSI.
Seems like a fairly decent speed upgrade from my GTX285, currently Im looking at the Palit model which shows a non reference dual fan cooling on their website, gotta confirm it with the retailer first.
I've back read a few pages and it seems that lower stock VID = higher possible clocks, I havent been able to narrow down the average overclock.. Would it be around 900-950core ?
Guys I have a PNY 580 here with 1.000 stock, that should be a good candidate for water right?
middle tower.. you need better cooling or at least higher air flow
what i meant by "or rma the card" if after you try a better cooler temps are still high and cant get higher clocks rma it because the card runs too hot for the above^ voltage n clocks you barely budged the mem clock aswell
What case and custom cooler do you think I should get?
Anyway I am really convinced it is just a temp. problem cause when I start my PC in the morning I can easily bench @900Mhz core with decent voltage:
http://digilander.libero.it/m4puni/p...2011_900_s.jpg
Good lord im stuck with either EVGA's GTX580-SC or MSI's OC edition which is extremely expensive.. I understand both cards are of stock reference design so its gonna be a coinflip on which will OC better
These are my temps. during a Battlefield Bad Company 2 session:

Got my Asus DirectCu II 580 today, with P0 Vid 1.025v. Too bad that these max voltage is 1.15v without mods, but that's enough for 990MHz core clock!:)
http://i7.aijaa.com/b/00149/7596800.png
That's was my first thought when is saw that.. i hope they realease mod bios for these soon! +0.4v hardmod doesnt sound very good without ln2!;)

Seems like this card built for cold run...Stock air maxed so far...
http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/7...enshot024z.png
That bios was very disappoint, couldn't even reach 990MHz 1.15v with that "cold slow bios".. and 1.213v 1000MHz was no go.
There must be some issues with that bios and DirectCu II pcb? Well, have to stick with stock bios until i can find working 1.213v bios..
Have anyone tried to unlock DirectCu II 580's max voltage with nibitor (nvidia bioseditor)?
Btw, how much power does 2x 580's eat up in SLI ?
2 CUII s/n1213 and 1212...
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7...enshot084t.png
Bios vmod with NiBiTor worked fine and now im able to use 1.213v on my DCII without losing card's stability. :)
That cold slow bios also dropped my card's P0 Vid to 1.000v, so it's not constant.. but now using original DCII bios with unlocked voltage.
@Dumo that close and still not the same vids! son of butch! lol

Will try, thanks Napalm:up:

I got my Evga GTX580-SC a couple of hours ago and just installed it, stock VID is 1.082v which is pretty high from what I've seen from the rest. I guess 950Mhz might be very hard to reach or even 900Mhz ?
http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/4871/580x.jpg
Makes me thing bad batches are sent to my country :ROTF:
How much should be the maximum 24/7 voltage that can be pushed on stock cooling, say something like limiting the fan speed to about 80% tops, 1.100v ?
Nice results guys!
I am looking to get a GTX580. I saw where Giga will make an Soc version of the 580. They bin the GPU's for the Soc cards, so that seems to be the only choice for a guaranteed low vid.
Would it be best to wait for the Gigabyte, or does anyone know of another brand available in the US that has binned gpu's?
Also, there is a 480Soc available at newegg for 100.00 less than the reference 580. Is there that much difference between the 480 and 580 to make it worth spending the extra 100.00?
It will be used for 3d benches, not gaming. I need roughly 55k points in 05. Not sure if this is possible with a single card?
Thanks
2 CUIIs retail samples from Newegg
The top one overclocked to 957 maxed (s/n 1213XXX) and the bottom one (s/n 1212XXX) can do a lot more with the same oc. settings...made me believe that same 580 CUII gpu will varies in term of oc on stock hsf.

Dang.....I started binning this CUII:(
Nice, both cards have pretty low VID.. maybe nvidia is binning 0.995v chips as well ?
Haven't try your bios yet.
On stock air HSF oc this CUII really is a gamble (like I7 2600K), dunno if Asus binned it or not. Probly the one with high leakage, low air oc will shine when put it on cold:D
Imo the lower the vid, the higher the leakage. So, it can run on stock Vgpu?
My VID is 1.082 and its currently running @ 1.088 by default, would it be safe for me to lower those to say 1.050v or its already fixed to be stable at 1.082 at default clocks?
I wouldn't recommend Furmark (and similar) application at all, especially with OCP turned off. You could burn your VRM.
I've found an extended Heaven Extreme Tes run (like 30min or so ) with max AA along with Vantage (max res, settings, aa, resolution pending monitor ) with feature tests 3x loop and 3DM11 on demo + test usually shows instability. There are never any guarantees with this stuff but in my own experiance if a voltage / clock is unable complete all these tests, instability is likely. From there I simple do the things I normally do ( games, decoding / encoding etc. ) and if all is well you have your answer
On a side note I've found Just Cause 2 to be quite effective at stressing hardware and ironing out instablility. Sadly There appears to be some inherent driver instablilty and it has ocassionaly crapped itself on me on more than 1 machine ( another with a 470 ) even at stock.
Any specific test to loop under Vantage?
How can I check if my OCP is turned on or ff?
Noted, Max Tes + AA under Heaven
Vantage Feature tests looped at max settings and 3DM11 demo
I want to perform some of these benchmark tests or synthetics before I go with my real world gaming test for stability.
EDIT:
BTW, how can the vantage feature tests be good since the down time inbetween tests is quite long.. its not really a single flow of different tests ?
Which game test on 3DM11 is very sensitive to overclocking, something that we can loop several times or so..
EDI2:
Initial testing for 1.000v I got 2 stable loops on 3DM11 Demo with performance preset, all sliders to max out side from MSAA which i left at 2x and running at 1680x1050.
Anyone tested GTX580 SLI\tri-sli with new Heaven 2.5 all max fullHD?
There is no tool for it, as it is always turned on, unless using modified BIOS.
If you use GPU-Z to turn it off, know that it's turned back on again after every restart.
You can see the difference in Furmark score with and without OPC, and also you can see higher power draw if you have some kind of power meter.
The card came today, just installed it and did an 06 run. It has a high vid, 1.03v, needs 1.138 for 975mhz to run 06. Guess it wont be a great clocker, but it does run very cool. I will have to flash to a modded bios to go much higher. I think I can score just as well with my gtx470so card with the cpu at the same frequency, 4500mhz.
My CUII with vid 1.00 won't go past 960ish core no matter what gpuV I jolted it...this probly the high leakage one that will do best with cold/LN2:(
The other one with vid 1.03 clocked to 990ish core easy with 1.15V.
03 at same settings.
Where can I find a reference as to where to get the voltage readout points on the card as well as the valid vGPU VID steps..
On and btw when undervolting I also need to keep an eye for artifacts right just like regular overclocking ?
EDIT:
Did a quick test with 900Mhz score at 1.150v and it gives me the flashing star like lense flares on GT1 in vantage.. meaning no 900Mhz core for me.. sucks!
http://i49.tinypic.com/2ry6cyp.jpg
Same points as the 480 for vGPU reading. Not sure on vMem. Known vGPU steps for me are: 1v, 1.025v, 1.038v and 1.05v.
You should also keep an eye on artifacts as they will occur if the voltage is too low.
I seem to be getting graphical glitches even at stock speeds with vantage GT1, Im pretty sure this did not happen with my old GTX285.. lense flare like glitches on the seams of that structure on the top right portion when you see the "ION" beverage logo on the screen and an a few ran and also some random patches of black blocks..
I dont have my GTX285 with me now to test again but I do have a GTX460, either my Silverstone Zues 750Watts is not giving enough power or my GPU is defective which is sad!
EDIT:
Happens with preset set to high and extreme, performance preset is glitch free.. gonna install the 460 and see if this also happens..
I was able to run about 5 loops of heaven 2.5 with extreme tes and 8x aa yesterday with out any visible graphical glitches!
EDIT2:
Unsintalled the driver and reinstalled it again with the GTX460-OC, same lense flare glitches happen but I noticed near the end when that craft flies the black square patch is smaller on the GTX460..
I dunno if this is a rendering glitch on vantage or the driver or my PSU or both cards are bonkers!
EDIT3:
Watched a couple of vids from trubritar at youtube and it seems to be also glitching on his own vids.
This might just be a vantage rendering glitch and nothing to be alarmed.

You guys are so lucky, neither of my two 580s will bench even at 940 with volts maxed and stock coolers. One is 1.038 vid and the other 1.000. Im going to put water on one and sell the other but I havent decided which to do which to yet ....

Nice job!
You got a very nice card, 1008mhz core .
Also a big thanks for the help with getting my score up to par.
Ill keep tweaking it and see if it will reach 50k.
Second screen was a run with the Gigabyte gtx470. Maybe this 2500k cant push the 580 enough to get the score I was hoping for.
Did this 10 days ago, but forgot to post, been busy with my new used car. :D
Changed drivers, new RAM, 5/10MHz higher GPU core/shaders clock, ~90MHz higher CPU clock and I got 300 points more!

undervolted my card from 1.088 down to 1.025 and using 850Mhz core, seems to be stable in 3DM11 and a couple of games.. cant really think of a good game to stress this card out properly aside from looping crysis runs.
EDIT:
At stock speeds/volts I seem to be getting a consistent rendering glitch or an artifact at a certain portion of Heaven 2.5, I've attached a video taken from my mobilephone camera.
