I didn't get the flu, but I had enuff alcohol in me to ward off anything.

Next year, hopefully, I can see you guys. No LN2 for me, but I'll try to have a good time without spending any money (including on airfare... thank God for a dad at United Airlines). I'll most likely be pointed at and called "that guy".

Dinos22, If I can handle posting at <<other places which shall not be named>> I think have earned my HTFU badge ;) Sorry if I am creating more drama in an already drama-ridden hobby when everyone should be trying to lower the drama increase cooperation. That thing is gorgeous.

Took three-four days working over-night. At the end we tested it with three 3d projectors in 3d surround playing Just Cause 2 on the shop wall. I guess Microsoft loved the idea they ordered several.

XS Staff - you guys should just add filters so you do not have to edit posts to clean stuff up ;)

DB, part of the problem is that xtreme rigs are prototypes.
Take a look at anyones prototypes and you will see aesthetics taking a back seat to function.
Sure you can try to make a prototype look a little bit tidier for presentation (and i agree that shamino has some of the messiest rigs in the world) but funcitonality so that it doesnt fail is number one

I wonder if something like what V2-V3 would be functional? gives room to stash PSU and such underneath. very nice looking bench. also thinking about a flexible stand to hold your thermometers and multi-meters.

Would powder-coated or anodized finishes work well with LN2? acrylic? also looking into making a powerhub so you guys can switch on the PSU without having to jump it

one of the biggest contributors to the mess is the PSU cables.
For a 4-way rig, you have eight cables minimum going to the cards, and in Shamino's case 16. He doesnt bother having voltage read point terminals, just bare wires hanging out everywhere. Others use a female molex with the wires to the read points and the molex glued on to the card.
His card cleanliness (or lack there of :P) is not something common to all benchers.
My rigs look quite neat by comparison and i use a home made benching stand with PSU/HDD and cabling underneath

I think powercoating and anodizing would work well. Paint obviously would shrink and crack...

Motherboards have buttons nowadays, even my board from long long ago has power/reset buttons ;) Unless you are running two PSU's, that is...but a simple little wire through the 24 pin is all thats needed to jump it anyway...

The jumper wire is precisely what people want removed (a simple switch on PSU's to manually force power on) and 100% modular design to that unnecessary cabling is not present

im hoping it falls under the fair use rights. i have no company logos or promotions. just an event overview. i also send them a copy for approval =]

I didn't get the flu I don't think, but had a really bad cold when I got home. Lots of head congestion and a runny nose that is still just clearing up. Too much shaking hands and germ exchange for everyone at the event I think.

Comes with the territory, but I'd trade the flu for a weekend like that again anytime. CES was a good time, and the XS event was definitely one of the highlights.

Yeah I had lots of friends go and more than half ended up with swine fever... :S I felt bad during my trip to Taipei after CES last year but I think it was a combination of allergies in a foreign place that I am not used to as well as "Big City" type smog / or whatever.

Many of the pictures have not been seen publicly previously. Many of the details were dug out of pages buried in this long thread, or gathered via PM/email, all pictures were used with permission from the people who took them, and with fugger's permission to do whatever with pictures from the party.

If you have any corrections, additions, or criticisms... Feel free to share. Hopefully, a little extra coverage will help to keep events like this happening, to give us a reason to get together, drink some beer, and have a good time benching.

Grats to the MOA winners and Thanks MSI for a great event that went as good as one could want.
Intel sent over many engineers throughout the event, Mr Skulltrail, Steven, Rahul, Kevin, Francois, and the guy with the mohawk.
The MOA contestants had a meet and greet with the Isreal Sandy Bridge design team, five of the Sandy Bridge design team answered questions as they watched the overclocking in progress.

Vince, Shamino, Gautam, BrianY, Ronaldo, Cwiss, Yuri, Gnidaol, Mikeguava and I went out on the Jeep tours from Red Rock down towards Good Springs. It was washed out bad and snow covered on our first trip.

The party went great, both bands made it, no one got arrested and prizes went to those did not expect to be hooked up.

Western Digital 2 Caviar Black 1TB, 500GB Notebook HD, 64GB SDD
EK water blocks
Danger Den variety of lit reservoirs and parts
Mountain mod cases
Asus Maximus IV Extreme, Rampage III Extreme, Crosshair Extreme, P8P67, and other stuff

Some guys took home enough parts to build a system, some got to pick a part.

The food was really good, the girl band Apocolypstick (sp?) and Pain Cylinder played four sets till 11PM

Thanks Planet for the many beers from Corsair. I hope someone got a pic of you with Francois this year.

Gabe from Swiftech was a trooper from start to finish and there was a group picture with Jeremy, Dennis, Eddy, and Alex (Petra).
Darthbeavis had a watercooled rig on display, V2-V3 had a water cooled Sandy Bridge on the bench.

No one got arrested this year. I need to get some rest before I complete the thanks thread, lets see some more pictures.
