Wow Charles, nice touch! I noticed that mine was stealth all the way around, but I didn't realize until now you put that much into it with the vinyl and everything! You're a G-E-N-I-O-U-S!

And well you should be ... I'm lurking ;)Quote:

It was actually really easy, probably as easy as Charles way with Vinyl. The only time consuming part was filing the edges to make them as smooth as possible, actually measuring and making the cuts was the easy part. Charles you must have lots of the bay device covers lying around :D
Updates!!!!!!
(I'm fiending here!)
Thanks for the comments Guys. :)
Nat: Your optical drive butt-stealthing method is brilliant - well done!
Project Update: Daniel's murderbox is finished. :)
Now I'm waiting on the weather to take some decent pics. I got up at 5:30AM this morning - hoping for a nice sunrise but alas I was denied. My next window of opportunity is tonight at sunset. Of course as I sit here now, the sun has broken through the clouds and is mocking me. Unfortunately, it's already too high in the sky for my purposes.
The other challenge will be night shots - this may take a bit more effort but I'll work on it during the week. It's not that I'm looking to do anything fancy really; I just want to attempt to capture how the machine looks in person - sometimes this is more difficult than one anticipates.
The other thing that needs to happen this week is to sort out the shipping and more importantly, the handling of this beast. I'm thinking gyroscopic gimbal or possibly a portable zero-g box that the machine will be tethered in. There's always the teleporter as a backup plan... I'll keep you guys posted as to the method we go with. In any event, the plan is to ship the machine out to Daniel in Frankfurt at the end of June.
My next update will hopefully have some pics. I imagine that if it doesn't, my welcome here will soon run out. ;)
FIRST!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOO!!!! Hurry up with pics. :D
Tingling with anticipation here...
I actually think disassembly and shipping to Nils for reassembly might be a good idea >.< Cyberdruid built an admirable strong box for his customer build and it still suffered major damages in shipping to the UK.... also maybe consider using a personal courier...
Daniel, fork out the money for a ticket for Charles to bring it TO YOU, you've already spent $x0000!! :D
If I had the money I totally would because then I get to see what this ModGod looks like! haha :D
about 3 grand for a plane ticket there and back... dont think thats worth it but I suppose it would be an option :p:
It would still have to be packed and put in the baggage compartment, so I doubt Charles could protect it from unsuspecting luggage handlers, but I love the idea of seeing him try to take it on the plane with him
Congrats, Charles. Many, many hours of hard work and you reached the finish line! I'm sure Daniel is excited.
Re disassembling it ... I dunno. From reading the thread, it seems this is a very intricate and detailed build - fitting so much into the TJ07. I imagine Charles and Daniel will figure out a way to get it there securely.
:) Tell you what. I can fly to Canada and then take it across the Atlantic to Daniel's house. And then come back to Aus. Does that suit? If so can I have CC info please I will book the tickets now.
Where does Daniel live, UK? I think you can find flights for cheaper than 3k if you willing to ride coach. I have German friends that found seats for under a grand round trip.
Would be nice if you could buy a second seat and just strap it in next to you, but think they stopped that long ago. :shakes:
Could always go the wood crate route, would cost more, but think that is bout the safest way, minus stupid fork lift drivers
Congrats Charles for having finished the monumental task!!! :) I bet it will be a new class of TJ07-based mods and can't wait to see it. As I followed through all the processes from the beginning since Daniel contacted me and I passed him on to the man who is good enough for the task, I can approve that you worked your *** off :D
Now just a safe shipping trip to Frankfurt. Maybe a boat trip would be safer - I would check for art/luxury-item places in Vancouver that regularly ship art or high-tech to Germany and ask them to put your case into the well-handled container. :)
Congratulations again!!!
Wait this guy (charles) not only does the most awesome builds but he has also developed the technology for TELEPORTATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if he has he just became my most favorite person !!!!!!!
now buddy can i have that teleporting machine ??????? or the portable version ?????? :yepp::yepp:
Charles, check your pm :)
Hehehe :).
I live in Frankfurt by the way.
The box will most likely be shipped in a crate, on a pallet.
As much as I'd like to pay Charles a visit, and I admit I even thought of that, something else came up and I'll be flying to Chile in two weeks, to visit the VLTs at Paranal and the Easter Island. Woohoo!!!
D.
I found the perfect solution:
Put it in a coffin. They don't throw it around and it suits the murder theme :)
Thinking about it, just having "murderMod," or worse yet, "murderBox," on the shipping label would cause havoc with the customs folks. Maybe he should ship it from "Charles @ ModGod, inc."
Label: "little yellow bunny computers inc."
He's got his Studio name for his shipping, so that helps a little with Customs. But I can attest that those Customs people are annoying. They called me and asked if I was expecting a package, and I said, "Yes! What's taking so long? Why won't you send it yet?" Their response was something stupid and then they asked if what I was waiting on was an aluminum computer case. What's the most ridiculous part is that Charles mailed me my case in the original Silverstone box! With all the labels on the outside!
I can imagine what they'd do with something like this. Charles, my suggestion, for what it's worth: Put it in a big crate, along with you holding it. Call it a vacation!
Otherwise, just send it to me. I'll take good care of it! :)
Congratulations my friend on completing this latest masterpiece!! I know how long you have been working away on this making sure that every little detail was perfect and I know that whatever pics you do show will blow your previous stuff out of the water!
Daniel: I envy you and the fact that this machine is yours...it is truly beautiful :yepp:
Congrats Charles! Cant wait to see final pics, but I know it will be a grand slam my friend ;)
You are a lucky man Daniel, but I am sure you have worked hard for the cash to pay for this work of art
Well done Charles, I'm sure the masterpiece is eagerly waiting to pose for you, you've just completed something that I can already tell will change the way the community look at dual loop TJ07's. Keep it up bro.
Any updates ????
and you have a pm
Here's a song to keep you all occupied:

Thanks for the comments and kind words of support, Guys. :)
I'm making slow but steady progress with the pics. The weather has not been cooperating but I'm making due. I'm working indoors while its overcast/raining; trying to get some decent shots with the lighting. I've setup a mini "studio" upstairs in the workshop which has ample room to spread out. I'm using an old 40W fluorescent aquarium strip light for fill/key lighting. The color temp was considerably warmer than the sLight panel so I got a correction gel from my local camera shop and taped it to the light. All in all, it's working out. I love improvising; it's very satisfying to come up with solutions that don't involve simply throwing money at things.
That being said, I've borrowed a gorgeous lens from a friend - the Nikkor N 24-70mm 2.8. It's much bulkier than what I'm used to but I'm blown away by the image quality... especially coming from my 17-55mm kit lens. It's going to be hard to give this lens up and go back, hehe.
Well, I hope to be finished shooting by the end of the weekend. My goal is to end up with 15 unique images that do the machine some justice. I'm past halfway but some of the tougher ones are yet to be done. I figure it's best to wait till I have the whole set rather than dribble them in, a few here and there. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.
Cheers. :)
nonsense! dribble away so we can commence drooling!
If you want you can forward me the machine and I'll finish it off to germany :p: you take great pics though, thought of renting some nice strobe packs and light banks for indoor shooting?
IMO 24-70 lenses are easily the best for shooting computers
Charles,
Check out this guy Jim Talkington if you have a chance.
He has several brilliant (lol ) tutorial videos on bouncing light on a budget and the results are just as nice.
Plus from his videos he sounds like the nicest person in the world.
Definitely looking forward to the final results. I've learned and been inspired by many things in this worklog, just as with all of your previous ones.
Cheers Ian. :)
Wait a minute... are you insulting my 40W aquarium strip light?!?!?! :p:
Hehe, seriously though; as I said, I love improvising. I used to work with studio setups and know they can be great - especially for high-key product shoots. That being said, all the shots I'm going to show are achieved with very basic equipment - stuff anyone can easily acquire (ok, maybe not the $2k+ lens). The point is, like computer modding, people can be pretty creative with how they photograph their machines; and it doesn't require expensive setups to do so... just a bit of effort, patience and most of all, imagination. Here's a shot using my 40W aquarium strip light as fill...
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/F.DSC_5805.jpg
I know it probably sounds weird but I don't want "studio" looking shots - at least not yet. I don't want to over-tweak and produce unnatural looking, synthetic images. I want the machine to be the focal point, not the trick lighting. Working with such basic tools allows me to "focus" on the machine. I hope this makes sense. All this being said, I hope that when the machine arrives in Frankfurt, Tremeloes will perhaps be kind enough to consider taking some studio shots for our marketing. He's a Master Photographer and I would be deeply honored if he would take some. He and Daniel both live in the same town after all... :)
Thanks Kibbler; that looks like very informative stuff! Cheers also for the kind words; I just trying to do my thing here - it's very rewarding to know that some find it useful. :)
ohtay; back to work...
there you go being all modest again and making us think you were having trouble  that pic is beautiful
That looks amazing Charles!!!
So modest ... "aww shucks, I'm just messin' with my homemade lights, and the weather is not cooperating - but guess this'll do..."
Drop dead gorgeous shot! You are killing us here waiting for more beautiful eye candy ;)
the normal everyday pc hardware always comes out as a masterpiece after your artistry touches it Charles
Damn that looks sexy  Can you please take some shot of that ssd's bue stuff on the side :yepp:
Wow Charles, that's looks sweet. You weren't kidding when you said the displays really looked great. I can't wait to see more.
Charles you are such a :banana::banana::banana: tease :D
Looking forward to some completed shots
 :slobber: absolutely fantastic shot Charles ...those SSD sleds look awesome and I agree with BA about the displays....the custom mount really turned out exquisite. Keep up the fantastic work and I am looking forward to the final shot collection
After you have finished this I think you have earned yourself a little break :yepp:
*picks jaw off the floor*
I almost forgot how nice those PLEDs are... :D
D.
u r one lucky guy :D
Charles pure art!
~O-M-G~
That's awesome, I've only seen 1/8th of the case and I'm blown away!
Nice job Charles! The LED displays look sweet.
Amazing! Great stuff Charles! :slobber::p:
Gorgeous Charles, just Gorgeous. You should be proud of yourself. Grab a beer, sit back and revel in your creation!
Just don't tell nils you're taking a break...
ultra-exciting. The glow of the SSD-mounts is gorgeous!!! The crisp displays of course too. The combo creates a great new look of "futurism".
I want one of those displays but in purple and white. I wish ;)
this has to be the best use of murder mods since the original
this is making me not want to be diffrent and go with black instead of the orange when i get my rebuild
I hear something ticking ...
tick ... tick ... tick ...
Nils.....DO NOT TEASE US PLEAAASSEEEE :P
I am teasing myself, because I am so excited :D
Charles: I guess some people are waiting here - what a beautiful day it would be to see the outcome of months of hard work :)
Dang ... got excited there for a minute. Thought the unveiling might be near ... Just Nils, teasing us (as well as himself ;) )
Thanks for the comments and words of support guys. :)
While the following photos mark the conclusion of this project, they represent not the work of one person, but the collaboration and contributions of many – most of whom I’ll attempt to pay tribute to by name. It may seem hokey or melodramatic but it would be unfair for me to reveal this creation without making it clear that the machine you will soon be casting your eyebulbs on, comes as a result of the efforts of many; first and foremost Daniel Secrieru - who challenged me as a craftsman, and more importantly, an artist. Thank you Daniel; your fantastic attitude and infinite patience made this possible. I hope you enjoy your machine and while doing so, know that nothing was left on the workbench… you got everything that was within my capability to deliver. So much so in fact, I have no idea how I’m going to top this… but as always, I look forward to the challenge. :)
Nils Papke (Dualbrain) – Nils pushes me to be my best – pure and simple. Nils is too smart to be duped by excuses or rationalizations… if the objective is to do one’s best, then there is no room for compromise. As Nils so eloquently says: time will pass and these machine (MDPCs) will lose relevance and one day be obsolete – what won’t tarnish however is the effort that went into making them and the relevance they will hold as a testament to what’s possible. While people will debate what they like or don’t like in an MDPC, the point is they get people talking and more importantly, thinking. What nobody can debate is the effort that goes into each and every one of them. These are the machines that will inspire future Modders and I for one, look forward to being inspired by their work. Thank you my dear friend - whatever the future holds, I will always feel very fortunate to have you as a friend.
Kirk Olson (BlueAqua) - Kirk has been a massive contributor and my “level-headed” associate – always the voice of calm and reason. Kirk is a straight shooter who goes about his duties without drama. I’ve grown to rely more and more on Kirk – largely because of how thorough and diligent he is. The real upside to getting to know Kirk has been a friendship that has formed between us – Thank you Kirk.
Billy T, Zenon C, Linus S, Ross F, Scott S, Cameron S, Daniel B, Rocky S, James G, Shaun G, Jesse P, Simon B, Jason M, Greg M, Len C, Damon D, Chris M, Ernie, Robert, Lloyd, Peter J, Ron, Bruce, Allan H, Sharon D, Par, and most of all, my wife Linda –She not only keeps me alive but is my primary source of inspiration and motivation. None of this – murderbox, murderMod, etc., would be possible without her.
These are more than names – these people are my lifeline and without them, this machine would simply never have happened.
It’s been a wild ride these past two years; it was roughly two years ago to the day that my friend Simon asked if I would build a high-end system for him. He wanted something “kick-ass” and suggested there was a considerable budget available. I thought this would be a great opportunity to attempt a liquid cooled build. I started researching on the forums and was very inspired by what I discovered. It was the people in this Community and their submissions that provided the resource needed to attempt a liquid cooled system. Like many, I was very nervous building and filling my first loop – I mean, water and expensive components… surely combining the two was madness! It was the knowledge base in this Community and thanks to the many Pioneers who forged the way for us, that ultimately gave me the confidence I needed to fill that loop and fire up the machine. I’ll never forget the churning sound of the pump, as it spun to life and the coolant surged through the hoses and into the blocks. It was an amazing experience; seeing it come to life for the first time.
I built that first "murderbox" on my living room carpet… parts and bits strewn everywhere. I hardly had any tools or even a workbench… it was as raw as it gets but I absolutely loved the experience. The thing that really did it for me though was when I delivered the machine to Simon and saw the look on his face when it was lifted out of the box and he first laid eyes on it. He just stood there, starring at it – eyes wide and mesmerized. I will never forget that moment or the sense of accomplishment it gave me; it was the moment I knew this was what I wanted to do.
All this to say that anything is possible with effort and determination. All you have to do is challenge yourself – and surround yourself with good people of course.
Now on behalf of everyone involved - I’m very pleased to reveal Daniel’s murderbox. Cheers. :toast:

WOOT final build pics. You outdid yourself yet again Charles, Great job.
You really must add those SSD sleds to the murdermod store. Those those are so cool looking.
Daniel, I am certain you are going to enjoy that thing like none other.
Once again, Great job Charles. I only hope one day I will be able to get enough money together for you to build me one of those pieces of art too.
:eek2:
EDIT: Ok now that I have had time to absorb all those fantastic photos - I must say that this build is by far the best thing I have ever seen....period. The attention to every little detail is displayed in each immaculate photo (and I know how long it took for you to get those )
To Daniel - you are the luckiest person alive at the moment to be the final recipient of this beautiful machine and I am sure it will serve you well.
Charles I congratulate you on a job well done - now go and have some well deserved rest and a few :toast2:
oh my sweet titty :banana::banana::banana:ing christ.....
http://icanhascheezburger.files.word...-beautiful.jpg
Holy man that is nice. I wish you sold TJ09 replacement parts so I could give my machine some MM loving.
 bravo!
Absolutely stunning, one of the cleanest builds I have ever seen. Words cant describe how beautiful this really is!
Yeah baby.
:D
:D
:D
enough said
really superb workmanship
This is probably the only thread I can't scroll down (and up) fast. :D
Very well done, Charles!

Charles any chance of wallpapers [1920x1080] of the following?

All I can say is wow. That looks absolutely fantastic!!
:woot:
Charles, I really don't even know what to say. You have put so much into this build - I can't believe how clean and uncluttered it looks, even the bottom compartment is gorgeous. We all expect your cable management to be spectacular, but you've outdone yourself here. Absolutely love all the special features. I may have something else to say later, but for now I'm just going to soak in the photos a few more times.
Cheers to you and to Daniel - you deserve it!
I haven't been to the liquid cooling section in ages. Wow, what an amazing first thread to come back to
I guess people have gotten a lot better with their water cooled rigs. Back when I used to hang around here, it was mostly just random parts with Swiftech green coolant lol, or it was until EK blocks came around.
oh my god im just speechless good job man :up:
and please update the store with all those long awaited parts i think some people have just ruined there keyboards drooling over the last pics of the build :p:
and check your pms please :D
That is really gorgeous, congratulations Charles on another job well done that!
FRESH TO DEATH~
you rawk charlessssss
stammeringly beautiful charles, it was worth all the effort you've put into it. thanks to daniel as well for allowing being such a great patron to the arts :)
What can I say awesome!!!!!!!!
*drives out to where the epic rig is hidden, steals it* I wants one!
Brilliant
The attention to detail is stunning.
The resrvoir is very cool. There are far to many astonishing details to even begin to comment on.
Excellent and inspirational work, congratulations on a phenominal build.
Absolutely fantastic work charles :)
Amazingly gorgeous build ... great job Charles!
Simply Gorgeous
Charles,
Thank you for sharing your WICKED talent through all your stunning photos. I'm blown away by your creativity, your patience, and your craftmanship. Your work has become my standard measurement of excellence.
I'll be bold enough to say that on behalf of all members who are familiar with your work, you are an inspiration to us all.
Guess I'm trying to say that I like the thing you do with 'puters and stuff.
Charles my friend. You've just taken the TJ07 to a level that I could never imagine. All that time and effort has paid off into something unremarkable. I really don't have the right words in my vocabulary to explain how "Perfect?" this system is.
You really inspire ANYONE with a TJ07 and ANYONE who even looks at your work, regardless of whether they're a lover or hater of custom computers.
I really can't say much more - *Goes back a page to stare some more!*
that is ungodly! Man, if I want MDPC status, I have a LOT to learn
 x1000000000000
Beautiful work Charles !!!
Thanks everyone for the kind words!
Wow, over six months, many hours on the phone and well over 200 emails later, it's done! Not to mention a big pile of money! It's been a long wait, but well worth it, imo.
Charles my friend, you keep saying you don't know how you're going to top this, but I'll keep on saying to you: this is but a bus stop on the long road ahead of you. Many more amazing creations will come from your golden hands!
This baby will be used to entertain me (read games, lots of games :D), but also as my power workhorse, for processing astrophotos (my other expensive hobby). As soon as I'll be able (read financial recovery :D), I will pair it with a nice 30" Eizo.
Cheers and a great week everyone!
D.
This has to be the greatest inspiration to all....
Yet another masterpiece, well done Charles
You are a god among men.
Truly incredible :)
Truly inspiring. :)
My 7 mth build may end up being even longer. While I try to make it more and more perfect because of inspirational work like yours!
yeah, its ok.
 sick man.
Just amazing :)
I love the ssd mountings too.
Wow Charles. You've shown me some preliminary pictures but these final shots blow the previous out of the water. From your first murderbox I was mesmerized by the smooth flowing blue coolant and you've managed to do it again with this build. You are in a league of your own, always inventing new creative designs, paving the way for rest of us.
You sir, deserve the Best Build Ever Award.
I love your system! :slobber:
