Yes/no guys&gals?
You want to go with hungry pigs. They can chomp through bones like linguine. If you know any pig farmers, be VERY nice to them. :D

Someone is in trouble. :ROTF:
Hey that one was too easy ,admit it,lol. Besides I pretty much have been pretty quiet about the avatar all day, now everone else .........well that's a different story.............

Per the lady's request.
Dave you can't fault me for this, you can't turn a good woman's request down, especially or dear Phicks
So I give you
SUPER MOD NOOB ADMIN.................IN A TUTU!
:rofl::ROTF:
If you all don't hear from me in a few days this is documented modus operandi for possible cause as to my unexplained and unusually prolonged absence.:D
And the Deeper my hole becomes.................................:sofa:

ya, exactly..........
I have one question..........
Dave do you even have a beard? :D
Thought I would be banned after that last picture.
Big fan of Top gear! Cant believe I almost missed that one! So a big  to you dave for pointing it out.
Heres one I watched the other day. I've never seen him on a bike before (well bike is a bit of a stretch).
I'll never look at a bottle of that stuff the same again. :D
That could be scary and possibly X rated. :ROTF: :D
Now thats a direction I didn't see this thread going.
Where pink tutu's are ,expect the unexpected...........................

Pie?
Nice work guys :toast:
Also note the #9 spot there skinnee ;)
2 quads done for a rebuild atm collective if that helps :p: :slap::stick::poke:
38DegC here today lol 100 DegF
Poor little redback quads are coping a flogging! :ROTF::clap:
Here's a pie shot for ya'll.....

In a few short days, those of us on this chart have moved our little GPUGrid XtremeSystems team from 72nd place to 58th. (OK, just checked on GPUgrid, we are now 46th place right now. :yepp:) Still a long way to go, with much potential for learning GPU crunching on our own WCG team. Kudos to my GPUgrid teammates who put up numbers today. There were 5 of us.
Pie anyone? I took the cherry with only a GTX 260 eVGA superclocked card. I added it to the stable to test GPU crunching out. It scored 13k boinc points today. I think I scored around 28k boinc points on my WCG crunching today.
The message here is that this is a wide open area to crunch in.....I think learning how to crunch a GPU on BOINC CUDA is a worthwhile thing to do, no matter who you crunch it for, at least for now... It uses more hardware in the fantastic "boxes" we all like to build. And since there is not a forum for the GPUgrid team yet, I'm posting here, on what will always be my home team and forum...
I had my doubts about whether crunching on an 8600GTS was worthwhile. I started testing with that and wanted to see the other extreme with the GTX260. I will have full numbers and my take on the efficiency in a few days. There is a sweet spot for GPU crunching, much like the Q6600 was to us, I just don't know where it is yet. I suspect somewhere in the 9000 series cards.
However, just as a teaser, on the GTX260, the raw CPU hours per Boinc points are two ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE higher than my best WCG quads.... I still don't believe the numbers, and am still trying to figure out what they mean. But, as they say, "the proof is in the pudding". I put up 13k on GPUgrid, and 28k on WCG. I ran one GTX260 and one 8600GTS (Which did not put in a WU today) on GPUgrid. I ran 58 cores on WCG today. (I have 60 cores available, 2 of those cores were servicing the GPUs on GPUgrid.)
Don't get me wrong, I'm not about points, but I'm trying to evaluate how GPU crunching compares to CPU crunching, and trying to maximize my work output. If I added a 9000 or 200 series card to every machine I run now, WOW!
I am also not recruiting those here to reduce their contribution to WCG in order to crunch GPUgrid. (it currently costs one CPU core to crunch a GPU WU.) I still have some questions about the nature of the projects over there. It is a brand new thing that I am trying to get a handle on. When WCG gets a handle on this and starts GPU CUDA crunching, I will be there and be ready. I hope they can handle the explosion of work done.....
When I'm ready with a couple of days of run-time, I will post a thread for this. Rather than really hijack this thread, I leave you with the thought that there are many ways to get pie........HELP, Dr. SiG!! Should I take the usual two quads or a GTX280 now??!!!:ROTF::D
Regards,
Bob
Thanks again for the heads up Bob. I couldn't justify putting one of my cores to each GPU client atm but maybe I should reconsider.
I'm just bummed that I can't use my 4870X2 cos that should crunch like a mofo.
emu
Just be careful what cards you crunch. My expensive 8800GTX is now a door stop....
The 8600GTS is really painful to manage WUs on, due to the current scheduler processes in the GPUgrid servers. That is still in need of some tweaks.
The GTX260 rocks. Heat is a problem here though. Count on water cooling those....I have an order into Petra's for this.
It does suck that ATI is not on the plate here, YET. I do remember that nVIDIA was s**king the hind teat a few years back on crunching though. Seems like the AMD/Intel game. I just wish the crunching developers would recognize that most of us are hardware independent, their apps should be too.....
Regards,
Bob
P.S. Are you into Didge? I met Ash Dargan a while back and got into it pretty heavy. I'm still trying to circular breath, but it is slow in coming to me. (And no comments from the peanut gallery on what could be made out of this last statement, please.....)
Ahhh Didge!
You need to be co-ordinated for that! lol I have enough trouble breathing normally sometimes lol
Thank you brother....
I will tell you that when I finally do get it, if it doesn't kill me, I will post a sound clip here. It certainly is not a normal thing to learn.... But a very powerful technique, whether you play didge, flute, sax, or any wind instrument.
Bob
That's true. The didge can take some time to master, specifically the circular breathing.

You know for a time I was worried that this thread would stay on topic but then I just thought about my good old team mates and I knew that they would never let that happen.
So it's PIE time again...
PIE? or should we discuss Dave? :D

I had pie on New Years..........oh...........wait, wrong pie:D:devil:
I'm up by 971 on my project rank and 3 by my team rank ^_^

A little evening PIE...
I seem to have a pretty consistent slice of pie here - and I'm not greedy or anything. I am just happy to be continually fed. Maybe I should make a play for more than my current share?
Is there a rough idea of the minimum number of cores/WU output needed to even break into the pie?
The dedication required to earn even a small sliver of PIE is worthy of our admiration and respect.  :toast: :toast:
i wish that my pentium four would go fetch me some pie, only thing its good for is a space heater :sofa:
Well in some of our cases the dedication is factored by financial standing or lack there of. Electricity Bill though it does somewhat equate to less heating bill :P. The ability to harvest more hamsters.....some of us can't seem to acquire enough of those.......:( I only have 8 going right now due to lack of financial standing. So....maybe one day I will have .000000001% of pie:D
In a positive light from my point of view is that I have up to 7 more cores then some others that dedicate what they can to our team. So yes even if you have one core.......that is still one more core working to help all of us.
In the mean time I will have to suffice with my gf's pie:p::D
Well she is member here on XS but I don't think she has dropped in on this section.

So you did see that pick Phelan!
Sorry mate you posted the exact same pic I posted a few pages before! I thought you were reusing it is all.

Oh my where is the collective!!!! (only 19 points in it!)
How can I put this?

 :)
Twilyth's cat must have hit the pause/break key.....................
Dude, That is AWESOME that the 2 of us lost by 19!!!! I mean Daym buddy. Join us and we can rule the world (less DDTung of course, Cause he is immortal) that is  :hehe:
On a side note. If littleowl's and my jobs are looking like they are then you will win every day as I will have to shut down to keep the house and kids feed. :( I hope the world economy starts up quick!
Night all,
MM aka Scott
I know crazy hey!
Unfortunately I have had three quads done over the break and haven't got them back up yet. I know I know but there is only so many hours in the day and I love to ride me bike!
You could always join me!:ROTF:
I hope that you aren't affected anymore by the current economy but alas I think the shockwaves are still coming. I am lucky atm as I am in a resource state and nothing major has happened yet but I do think it will all come to a head in the next few months when all of these projects go for funding approval from their JVPs.
And I'm not interested in winning only for the fun of it and I will keep on with the cause for as long as I can. I spent my bonus that I didnt get this year but according to the government over here we should all be spending money to keep the economy afloat.
Oh No, where's Emu  :D
Since the "Collective" got jumpy today and beat me to it...:)
"Users Returning Work : 229/874 (26.20%)"
you know it is Sheep ass pie though right?
Were you born in Ohio and migrated to Aus?
I guess to some, Sheep ass is like fine caviar.
Not that I am aware. My parents swear I wasn't adopted or found behind a dumpster.
I used to like telling Kiwi jokes to europeans until one of them was taking the piss outta me for it saying I was a sheep lover. Suggesting that I had slightly larger rubber boots than I needed. ;)
Looks like lumpy caviare to me. :shakes:
