well for starters try getting your RAM up to its stock 1600mhz if you can.
your cpu could def. use some more volts.

this motherboard is very crazy:(, it's impossible to set 400x9 or 400x9,5 with dram frequency 1600, spi 32 freeze on first loop.
I tried 1000 bios setting with high/low voltage /timing but spi 32 is not stable.
On my old Bltz i can set 1600/1800 MHz with all divider and fsb ...I am very disappointed for this mainboard:shakes:

i dunno, pretty much the only complaints about this board i've heard (and i've read this whole thread) have been from OCZ ram.
newegg told me ocz ram had issues with this, but i'm a mushkin man so i felt safe.
now i just need to get my ram back from rma to verify this.
This board loves big fsb, low ram dividers, tight timings and low TRD. Forget 1600mhz, its faster at 1200+ with 5-5-5- timings with a lot less setup time.
i'm running 1200 now as tony mentioned, but will try bigger fsb.
i leave most of the bios settings to auto. very happy now cos i do not have so much of auto-restarts & having alot of trouble getting into bios to reconfigure settings and i've also tried multiple settings with very bad results such as having trouble to enter bios, tried resetting the pc etc ... but by removing 2nd slot of ram on the orange slot it does allow me to get into bios. another problem where it wont even boot into windows and shows a bluescreen then auto restarts itself. when settings are changed with 8/7/7/27 dram Voltage of 1.80 FSB strap @ 400mhz Dram @ 1066mhz, it boots and loads windows fine, but then applications would quit by itself then strarts to go crazy or an auto restart again !!!
but with 5/5/5/20 settings, my machine is very stable with 1200mhz dram. will try to post some bios settings. good luck to all with the settings and hope to see more stable bios settings ;)

seems most people can easily run at 1333mhz.
If you really don't like tweaking and really really want to oc your ram, it might be worth rmaing this for an x48 chipset.

just run your RAM at 1:1 and find your max fsb. play around with it a little.

wow I must have a bad board then if I'm having problems getting past 450fsb even with TEC and DICE
when i had the ram voltage read by multimeter i noticed some wierd spikes...like up to 3v to the ram when rebooting.
now this could have been a multimeter issue or something but i thought it worth mentioning.
anyone else seeing this?

what it is is that we all got bad boards and his is the only one that works right, thats the only way I can explain it. I've been mercifully trudging through these bios and have yet to get higher than 450fsb in fact its really pissing me off! I've tested 10 E8600's and 15 E8500's on it and never got a single one of them higher than 575MHz +/- 10MHz, only the newest E8600 did 595MHz FSB, and the "weird" 620MHz FSB described in the sentence above.
yeah hopefully mine will get sold I'ma just write off as a bad buy and move on, I dont think bios can fix this board. I can do 500-515fsb X7 and 8 but I would like hose speeds at 9.5 or at least 9 but no go.
I Installed XP Pro w SP3 onto my P5Q3 Dlx with Bios version 1303 lat night.
It had Vista Ultimate 32-bit on it for the past 10 weeks but it couldn't break Super Pi 1M in 10 seconds unless I pushed the CPU to 10 x 500 (5.0 GHz).
And that's too much on great air I feel.

wow, I'ma refer the guy I sold it to to this thread, maybe I just could not wrap my head around the bios enough. But hell maybe he will get skyrocket fsb's on it, either way he got a hell of a deal on the board only cost him $180.00 usd shipped, I paid $250 for it, used it about 4-5 days then packed it back up. my son got ahold of the needle nosed pliers one day and squeezed a few of the fins on the NB sink but nothing major, he said he was trying to help me fix it,lol.

I will post my settings sometime. ;) About the RAMs, for me 2.00v and 2.20v works. Nothing in between works. The SP1M run above was with 2.00v.

Got my RAM back today so this board is officially up and running for me.
I'm not sure whether anyone's still having problems, but I started up and am running just fine on a 2x2gb mushkin kit at its stock speed of 1600mhz at 7-7-6-18, even on the 0605 BIOS that came with the board. That being said I also have a kit of OCZ Reapers 2x1gb 1333mhz 6-6-6-20 that I switched to before beginning overclocking just because they looked cool =]. Since last night was my first with this board I was just trying to push it to its OCing limits. I got it to post many many times at the magical 8x500 and could even get the windows logo to show up, but never got it into windows. I did get a 8x495 validate and SPi 1M, which I'll post when i get home, and decided to just run Prime Blend at 8x475 until i woke up for work (in 2 hrs). For some reason this board likes its auto settings better than what I give it (except vcore and vNB ofcourse).
What I was surprised with was that I never once experienced a memory related problem. Now granted I wasn't really stressing it that much, but I was pushing some hard OCs. Hopefully this means the memory problem is fixed? I'll try OCing with my 2x2 kit later, and maybe even try putting in all 6gb.
Hope this board works out for everyone!
OH, one last thing I noticed, my Q9450, which was being really good about running on LOLOLOW voltages on X48 seems to need higher voltages on this board for some reason. For example 8x475 stable only needed 1.24~7 (actual) on X48 whereas it requires 1.344 (actual) on this board. Maybe I should disable LLC as I've never used it before? Anywas, this scares me...i like my chip.
anyone know how to get this board to boot with a 4870x2 and another 4k card? i can boot fine with the 4870x2 but not with another card in along with it.

I just got off this board, but I was running a Q9450 at 3.9ghz with 4gb mushkin ram at 1400-1600. I can't comment on the CF issues you had, but my experience with this board was generally positive.
I will say though, it seems to like its auto voltage settings. try leaving those alone and adjusting where necessary (vcore, vnb)

I did a preliminary round of OCing with those because of the rumors of this board not playing well with 4gb kits. Oddly enough i had to use a 4gb kit ot install windows as it kept freezing up with the 2gb kit. anyways i didnt have any problems and got my first 3.9 validate with this Q9450 and got dangerously close to 4.
One thing i noticed, both 2gb and 4gb kits seemed to be fine with even the 0605 BIOS that came with it.

I booted and got a validate, a 1m superpi run, and even tried to startup 3DM Vantage, but of course it hung.
Needless to say I'm very pleased with this board. Another thing I'll say that might help out you guys stil having trouble, this board is very finnickey with timings and ratios. If I try an lower CAS to 6 say, or tRAS to 18, it won't post. If I even lower the FSB:DRAM ratio it won't boot in a higher OC. That being said, once I got these timings and ratio nailed down they were good to get my 2x2 kit up to 1600 and even OC a little, and of course, the elusive 8X500 quad.
I've got my qx9650 running 4.5ghz stable but i cant seem to get 4.6ghz from BSODing random error codes. temps are fine and im using more than enough Vcore.
my crucial ballistix 1600mhz kit (2x1gig) still wont run above ~1600mhz even with loose timings and high volts. like i've said before... they run fine well over 2000mhz on other ddr3 boards i have.
i did end up figuring out the 4870x2 crossfire problem.
I've heard the P45 A3 stepping will fix a lot of these memory issues. Any rumors on when A3 might show up in retail?

I am about to change from a Maximus Formula board based DDR2 system to the P5Q3 Del. board.
My first attempt last week was a fiasco. I was using OCZ DDR3 RAM and even at defaults it wouldn't get stable. I even set TRFC to 72, with no success. All attempts at installing a Windows 2003 server failed for 8 hours, with a system freeze somewhere in the setup process. An old Vista installation however did boot. Whatever I did, the system just hung after a few minutes.
So I returned the new hardware the next day and got my money back. My local K&M store advised to try a different kind of memory first and I more or less randomly decided for Mushkin HP3-12800 RAM. The RAM and a new P5Q3 are on the way to the store currently.
What are the chances with Mushkin RAM to have a stable system?
Any other recommendations on DDR3-1600 modules, or tricks for stabilisation?
The modules are still in transit to the store before I am getting them. I do still have the option to keep my money, get different RAM or a different board/chipset, I just don't feel like spending more than 200 Euros for a transitional mainboard before getting a Nehalem system.

I had the same problem when I tried to install windows using my OCZ reaper 2x1 kit; it kept freezing up when installing. I used my mushkin 2x2 1600 kit to install windows and am still using them now, theyv e modestly overclocked, and have provided my system with the stabilikty i needed to get to 4ghz. However the OCZ kit was also fine once windows was installed and achieved the same overclocks; it seemed the problem was with installing windows.

Mushkin tRFC is set at 60. As in my above post I've got my Q9450(C1) to 8x500fsb on this board. Have hop[e, the P45 chipset is pretty kickass

Slov: I was sort of lucky today. I found out that my ordered Mushkins are out of stock at K&M's main store and can't be shipped to the local one anytime soon. I ordered four 1 GB Corsair XMS3-1600 RAMs instead. I guess this should circumvent the issue, right? Or is it the same for 4x1 GB as for 2x2 with this stupid chipset bug?Quote:

I myself use them in 2x1gb. Quick pic for show. Xmp profile works but don't use it, they'll clock further with less timings at the same voltage.

Ace80: My modules are the ones without XMP profile but I don't shed a tear anyway. They should be identical otherwise. It'll also be interesting how overclockable they still are when using four pieces of them.

well, that's a lot more organised cooling than mine... I'll post a pic when I get home, but lets just say things are a little tangled. What I mean is you might want to strap or otherwise place a small high cfm fan blowing directly on the nb hs. while the cooling you have seems to be a nice blunt force solution, more strategic placement might be beneficial. you want the greatest amount of airflow around the nb/cpu/mosfet region. RAM cooling is least important (at least for most OC purposes), and modified VGA cooling is optional to say the least in a bench-type setup, though more important in a closed case environment. but i digress on cooling...
yes 1.6vnb seems to be my sweetspot for higher fsb. and like i said before, this board likes its auto settings for the most part, so try and start by leaving those and then figuring out what you need to set manually. I've found that NB is really the only thing it's shy on, and I just lower the CPU voltage from it's auto because I can. but each case is different.

ya, i don't like to feel any heat when I touch my heatsinks, and i don't mind noise, so I keep 2 highrpm fans on it constantly.
i even set vdram on auto. I haven't really tried tweaking its voltage because i assume it just undershoots it and stability's been fine, and whenever i tweak ram timings at all its unstable, so i figure it's ram settings are fragile.
Nope... don't work.. hehehe... i don't know... can my OS broke? Because i have few bluescreen.. :s
By the way i'm using the 1306 bios version...
My ram is Gskill HZ ddr3-1600 CL 7 with 1.9vdim
bluescreens are mostly power problems.
whew man i guess this board is kindof a hassel.
post all BIOS settings? If you've got the XMP option try booting into that. Copy down those ram timings and set those in manual OC option. are you using OCZ ram? i've got a 2x1 1333 CL6 kit that i could toss in and try to get timings for at 1600 cl7 when i get home if you want. I'm off to lunch now, but i'll be back soon.

i've had best results with 400mhz strap too.
describe what happens when it fails.
and make sure you have sufficient vnb!

It start, load the OS.. and when XP is saying Welcame... appear bluescreen.... sametimes talk about memory adrees and other time.. talk about same part of hardware.
you can try with more vcore and pll, but lower vfsb (your is dangerous)
600x7=4200 MHz and 1,3V is a low value, I set 1,39-1,4 for 600x6 :D
