MSI... I dunno... but then again Coolaler did well with an MSI.
I think it's best to wait but it is so hard...
I would figure either DFI or ASUS... if ABIT finally has there head on straight they may be a top MB maker for Intel... otherwise it's in the air.
I went to the Hexus forums and talked with the editor about the impressive DFI Lanparty Intel 590 version. It was just a few questions.

If i'm not mistaken, we took these particular shots on a large conference table desk at DFI's headquarters. beside the conference table was a large 'white-board' upon which was interestingly scrawled: - HEXUS r0x0r...Quote:

Gah, they really need some budget boards at $100 price point.
Any news about the Albatron PX975X?
I'm thinking of buying that one.
Thanks metroid! hopefully they will have some results for us when the conroe nda is upQuote:

Hello, first post here. I'm planning on building a new system by the end of this month and I want to build an E6600 based system. In reading the list I found this....
What about it is the OP not sure? That it is Conroe cappable? Approved? or that rev. 1.3 or 1.3G is the one that will work with Conroe?Quote:
P5WD2-E Premium rev 1.3 (not 100% sure) - ATX - Available but not rev 1.03G, rev 1.03G should be available after 20 july
I think I have my heart set on that board so I will be folloing it until the right one is available or I run out of time to wait for it. Not going to overclock, just like the features and stability.
Any way to know what DDR2 will work with that? I mean, can you assume certain RAM Modules that work with the early versions will work with the Conroe version? I'd like to start shopping for a good deal on DDR2 800. Everything else is purchased but the MOBO, CPU, and RAM
Thanks!

The new lowest price for a Asus P5W DH Deluxe in Canada that I can find is $269.99 CND
Which seems pretty damn low if you ask me!
Still no word on a possible RD600 release date? I need to make a decision whether or not to grab a P5W DH while they're still available or keep waiting pretty soon.
Quick question with the ASRock boards:
The boards with an AGP slot--are they actually full speed AGP slots? Or are they something similar to the AGI Express slots? (PCIE 1X or 4X slot "married" to an AGP slot). I ask because people who have had ASRock boards with these "imitation" AGP slots report slow downs of 20-25%.
And they also have C2D preorder (which I preordered last Friday)Quote:

i just want to use only 1 graphics card.
Im willing to wait till the end of sept for the right mobo
i want a Mobo which is overclockable and is upthere in terms of overclockabilty with top level asus, dfi mobos.
Nice pictures of most of the boards

ouch, if DQ6 is about 250 USD and DS3 is 143. The DS4 will probably come in bettween 175-200 :(.

Can anyone help ???
I have now swapped over CPU's 16 times and I am now convinced this Conroe is dead
you should start a new thread for your problem.
@ NCIX:
ASUS P5B: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS
(pre-order)
ASUS P5B deluxe:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS
(pre-order)
Gigabyte 965P-DQ6:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...cture=Gigabyte
(available 2-5 days)
They are pricey :(
Wow, that better be the exception. I'm not paying $180 for a vanilla 965 board. I'm assuming they are getting a 15-20% premium for the preorder, ~150ish sounds 10x more believable.
P5B Deluxe higher priced tha P5W DH... VERY funny...
Edit: Anyway, all C2D motherboard on NCIX are overpriced. the P5W DH is $344 while you can get it at $269 in other canadian store..
So I expect the P5B to be $159-$169 and the Deluxe $209-$219.
This one is looking a little nicer than the 775Dual-VSTA:Quote:

Doesn't support DDR, but also doesn't have a VIA chipset. Good trade-off. Good price.

Am I blind or is there no VIA based chipset section?

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...k&promoid=1051
If the AGP works at full speed (which, I think it does) this could have the potential to be the next ASRock 939Dual for the Conroe world.
NCIX staff tested it and say that it works fine with Conroe in the comments section.
Does the PCI-E slot run at X4? Cuz I was under the impression it was also full speed.
No cpu volt adjustment :( Bust out the soldering iron :)
EDIT:
Just found out the PCI-E runs at X4 :(
I wouldn't touch a Via board with a 100ft pole..
At under $100 and for those still using AGP based Quadro cards.....it's definitely something to consider.
Unless Uli comes up with something, of course :)

Finally, lets hope the rest come out tomorrow!
Edit: How'd I end up on this thread? I thought I was somewhere else.

Board choice is more essential.
Not sure if anyone has done any tests but Nvidia chipsets suck for overclocking Intels according to past history.Quote:

Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
the support site is not yet updated with core 2, but what other new cpu's are there?
So, are the P5W DH's in their current form a viable platform to run a C2D on? Right now I'm not too concerned with the overclocking, just need something that works, plus I'm not really oriented on OC knowledge. As RD600 is still a ways out, I'm looking for something nice and reliable to keep things working.
I think we have to make a poll which MOBO should be the best for C2D...available at the moment

AndreYang just said there will be no rev 1.03g P5WD2-E.
So your link is probably a typo.
First microATX Conroe board available in the US:
ASRock 775i945GZ
You heard it hear, second! :p: Totally mediocre. 4x PCI-E, 20-pin connector & Fsb adjustment only. But it's relatively cheap.
I see the P5WD2-E Premium rev 1.3 makes the list, so am I safe to assume the rev, 1.0 definitely does not support Conroe?
Cant you get the 775Twins in the US? Its got everything except CPU voltage control :slap:

AW8D doesn't work with Conroe iirc?

However, the good news is that it will support ALL current Intel processors ... upto the 965 Extreme Edition @ 3.6GHz (1066FSB).

Has anyone tried any of the Asrock boards? I'm half tempted to pick one up just to see how it does, at $65 and $86 its worth a shot.
Here's preliminary results of one of the poorer performing via based ones:
http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=105113
He talks about trying DDR1 on the second page.
Only rev 1.03G will support Conroe. So all the other revisions of the P5WD2-E do not support Conroe.
Even my small corner shop in edinburgh has one :stick: strange.Quote:

They dont list the non cut down version (non SE) as supporting core duo 2 :/
that board would be a decent tie over board til RD600. Jetway's site doesn't say anything about it supporting Conroe though, do you have any furthur info that leads you to believe that. Besides for the fact that it is new and the chipset does support conroe.Quote:

That would be a good idea, I am considering it myself, mainly because I don't trust asrock (who also offers cheap conroe boards). Hopefully Biostar will have a cheap tie over board by the time my conroe comes.
Thanks for answering my question. Now I'm actually re-thinking what I want. Since I've had crappy computers throughout my life (my current one in my sig is alright), I'm used to staying with them. I'm thinking of building a decent system based on the PD805 and this mobo, and then I'm thinking of probably just adding a cheap 7600GT for the graphics power and waiting it out until quad-processors come out. By then I'll have enough money for more upgrades. I guess that is what I will do.Quote:

The fact that other boards are turning up to support Conroe, doesn't hurt. I would have jumped on this board if the PCI-E x1 slot was in a different place.
I read the non-SE was capped at like 240fsb, because ASUS couldn't get the PCI-E lock working! Come on! In this day and age? The non-SE was the closest I came to finding a potential Conroe ready board in stock...Quote:

Well this must be able to have the FSB at 266 ofc the PCI express would clock over to default again most likely anyway....
Another question,
Will this board support Conroe, I'm thinking of getting it.

Latoron, AW9D is going to be the replacement for that board, so I highly doubt it. That Gigabyte board you suggested earlier looks to be a bargain "budget" board. Do a search on the forum, some guy was doing over 400fsb on it. I just nabbed the last one for my parents last night! :toast: Which is probably why it's OOS... :D Lotsa other places to grab it though - here's one: http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=MB-...4eb73afc55fe77
how about a short conclusion:
Which one to choose and why......if you dont want to wait to long for a board to conroe E6600
DFI 975X/G
P5W DH Deluxe
Gigabyte p965 DS3
what is the best for OC for the ordinary oc guy....nothing ekstreme just air or perhaps watercooling and WHY do you consider it the best..
Sure you did, you just missed it. When the HT link is 5 that's 5 X 200 X 2 = 2GHz just 4 X 200 X 2 = 1600:)Quote:

So, is the P5W DH the winner so far as far as early adoption goes? I'm trying to pick out a board with Crossfire support. But from reading the posts about it, I've seen lots of required actions with modding the board and pulling chips out to flash them in other boards.
With overclocking options mentally set aside at the moment, is the board actually capable of running things without having to do something potentially stupid, or is waiting on something better the best option?
MY E6600 will come within two weeks and the P5W DH is still on the top of my list for now...
Regards,
Primoz
AMD is using integrated memory controllers. You'll want to set the HTT multiplier to get 1GHz or less HTT on AMD... Apples to oranges here. :slap:Quote:
