Hey Poodle. It's been awhile since I've used 64-bit XP but I imagine that might be some of the trouble. I'm using the top right sata port for my harddrive and it seems to be working just fine. I'm also using an X-Fi Fatality without issue in the bottom PCI slot. Do you have 32-bit Windows you could try?Quote:

I'm running a 6600 at 3.4, 1:1 memory divider/266 strap, stock voltages with the power saving stuff turned off Orthos stable for 8 hours or more. 3.5 and 3.6 will boot into Windows, but crash Orthos either in a few minutes or really soon depending on the speed. I think that having all my fans on slow or 7 volts (I got lots of them though) has a lot to do with it, but I am looking for a computer that is day to day quiet at the speeds I'd like to hit. Any recommendations for a good NB cooler or just stick a fan on the stock one?
And one last question...anyone know if the IDCC 'fan 3' is that 4 pin aux fan header on the bottom of the MB? I dont think it is that second of the pair of 3 pin headers closest to the cpu as that only has voltage coming off of it and is unreadable or controllable by IDCC unless something is wonky with my rig?
I read something on the Intel site that smart temperature reading is a known issue with the controller in AHCI mode. Maybe there will be a software update sometime to fix this.Quote:

Well, I'm up to 400x9 now @ 1.482vcore. I was doing 390x9 @ 1.435vcore. 1.3vFSB and 1.6vmch (sp?) I don't know how you guys manage 400x9 @ 1.40vcore. I have the L63A854... Aren't the 'A' the ones that run cooler but don't OC as well? Ah well...
EDIT: Forgot to mention, on my Asus P5B Deluxe it was requiring about 1.52vcore to run 400x9.

Fan 1 (3-pin) is the front case fan right next to the IDE header.
Fan 2 (3-pin) is the rear case fan right behind the audio stack and just below the 4-pin molex pci-e power connector.
Both fan 1 and 2 are controlled by the same PWM output so changing 1 will change the other.
Fan 3 (4-pin) is the aux, right next to the end pci slot.
It's set to control 4 pin fans like the cpu fan so a 3-pin fan will run at full speed unless you use your own controller between the header and the fan.
SMART works in both AHCI and RAID mode. If in RAID mode though, only drivers not in an array will report.

Posted fine, switched mem ref to 266, mem freq to 800 4-4-4-10, vdimm 2.0v
Bios froze. rebooted: 3 beep, ok, put jumper in maintenance mode, no boot....
Removed 2 sticks of ram: no boot, Removed 3 sticks and disconnected all hdd, boot in maintenance mode but not in normal mode.
Ram is set at its default settings of ref freq 266, mem freq 800 4-4-4-10 2.0v.
Cpu is 14x266. :banana::banana::banana::banana: i just realised 14x266 = 3724mhz. LOL
sorry. Ill try back tomorrow with 10x266.
I just dont understand why it didnt boot with the jumper in maintenance mode.... strange
Well, finally got my system to a level I'm content with... for now. ;)
400x9 @ 1.475vcore, 1.3vfsb, 1.6vmch
Running a 5-5-5-16 on the RAM @ 2.2v with the 4:5 divider (500mhz)
Still need to do a 8+ hour Orthos run but it is stable for 4+ hours of CS and about 1 hour of Orthos. ;)
Anyone have problems with CPU-Z and IDU? If I run CPU-Z, IDU will be very slow when you try to monitor temps. I have to restart the computer and then IDU works fine, but as soon as I run CPU-Z once (even if I close it) IDU runs slow.
Also need to figure out what's up with my front left USB port... but so far I'm happy with the BX2. Thanks for everyones advice/help.
Its still randomly like turning off my keyboard and turning it back on. Is it something to do with the board or could it be drivers?

Oblivion is a great stability test, BTW. I had my vCore set too low at 3.46GHz on my old E6400 and Oblivion would let me know by crashing as soon as I walked down to the lower level in this ship and some Spectral Sailors came out. Upped vCore and it played fine for hours.
