You speak Spanish don't you? ( por = for ) I do as well. When I read your post I totally understood it as I translated it opposed to thinking it was a typo. Until I read it two or three times to see what didn't seem right. :)

I have a 1.02G version of the board (is this 1.65 vMCH?).
I wanted to do the pencil mod for vDroop but the pictures on VR are for the 1.0G, which has a different resistor arrangement.
Can anyone take a picture of their board (I think the 1.04G is the same as mine) with this pencil mod? I would be forever grateful!
ALSO -- I just got a Q6600, should I use the latest bios (22XX) or should I use those modded bios (2004?) that are for G0 and 45nm chips?

lol
go back to the thread, i hope change tomorrow to another motherboard, one Evga 680i A1
wtf?
Looks like Asus have pulled the bioses since ver. 2004. 2206 is still to be found on the ftp server.
(not that i realy care..)
finelly those bios were not good how many people miss there bios up using them about time
ginnie pig bios lol
i have a e6400 es with 2004 bios so it dont bother me. but i may want to get a later chip who knows now the board dosent suport the newer 1333 chips
no more problems with this board for me.
today i sold this board :D
What its the best option in board to buy, i see a giga p35 ds3p or abit ip35, or i wait to x38boards ?
in 2004 bios a have cpucode error , so 2206(beta) is ok. so far
Q6600. mobo 1.02G version p5w dh
I am running bios 2205. My Problem is one that many Vista users are suffering from right now. I get the atikmdag error when running 3D intensive games. This error causes black or flickering screens followed by a bubble in the task tray telling you that a display driver has stopped responding and has been recovered.
TDR Explained
This problem isn't just ati or nvidia it's both:
ATI
Nvidia
Some people have had success when they sync or link their ram. I didn't see that option in the bios anywhere. Is running the fsb and ram in a 1:1 ratio the same thing as syncing?(And if so what options do I go into to make that happen for DDR2 800 Ram?)
Never got that problem once.... But then again I install every hotfix I get my hands on...

Hopefully its your board layout.
This board support the 1333 Mhz Core2 Duo processors.
My friend (and me later on) have the Intel E6850 processor 3.0 Ghz and 1333 FSB). Installed memory is OCZ Gold PC2 5400 dualchannel @ 4-4-4-12
If you have an Asus P5W DH board with a bios earlier than the 2103 version, it give a microcode error during boot, but you can bootup to flash it.
Just install bios version 2103 or higher with the EZ-Flash feature.
In the bios, one setting have to be turned off and that is the Hyperpath3 option.
So what BIOS do we need to run G0 Steppings?
Larrys 2004 thats been modded as you guys say 2004 it works well and larrys added G0 stuff should help?

I upgraded to the Asus P5K Premium - it has all the BIOS options I need including all the missing memory settngs that Asus never included in the P5W Bios .http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=361
Performs very stable on o/c due to increased quality and number of capacitors over P5K deluxe- not a lot of vdroop either. I can easily run the 4x1GB RAM upto 1200 with good timungs . Seems to get the best out of the GO processors and is ready for the 45mm. I would run higher but am limited by my cooling.

BIOS 2301
P5WDH, Rev 1.02G/66M0AG, QX6700 B3 @ 3.0g, 2gB PC-8800 RAM (details in sig)
- installed with EZFlash 2 and USB drive
- no obvious changes and operating nominally
- no new CPU code, compared to 2206, re., "G0" steppings (see clip below)
- no problems with settings remaining set
- internal 2301 BIOS date = 07/29/07 (2206 = 07/24/07)
P5WDH 2301: (Asus FTP)
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...eluxe/2301.zip
- agreed, and to add to "strangeness," P5WDH CPU compatibility lists 2205 for "G0" steppings
- has happened in the past and probably have to wait a week or so, if its another ASUS site mistake....
- I'm with these two fellow hayseeds and will wait for X38....
- provided DDR2 support is viable
- and prices are not totally wacked....
tried 2301 bios with older revision p5w board same issues with e6600 if bios entered vcore goes to auto and has the pci modem /multimedia detected on fresh reboot the newer bioses might be good for go but for the normal e6600/e6700 etc larrys modded 2004 bios is good and is compatible with the newer cpus
Does Asus even montior this thread? What a bunch of n00bs that Larry's bios is still more compatible then the betas they release....
I just swapped processors (and waterblocks) to a q6600 G0 and a fuzion. My board posts with bios 2004, says incorrect cpu microcode then freezes after a few seconds (enough to get into the bios but not see much and not enough to get to temperature settings). I hard mounted the fuzion so its possible its to tight or not tight enough (I have a backplate so board warping is not likely an issue). Its possible its a heat issue but the board should restart or shut off if its a heat issue shouldnt it?
Any suggestions on what to try outside of swapping back to the dual core (I have another board to try the quad in if I go back to the dual). And if i go back to the dual to update the bios, should I use the modified 2004, the 2205 or the 2206?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Update!
I got it to post, still have hte incorrect microcode issue but it boots ok and seems stable (ran prime95 for about half an hour without errors (26C load according to pc probe), will play with it more tomorrow.)
I would still like a suggestion as to which bios to run (2004, modified 2004, 2205, 2206) for overclocking the quad. Again any suggestions or inputs from people who have a G0 on this board would be appreciated (though I am probably picking up an x38 board next month so I am not too worried about the oc at the moment).
When I have any usb devices plugged in on boot my system stalls at post for about a minute or so
Do the new bios' solve this
P5WDH, Rev 1.02G, BIOS is this new BETA 2301, CPU E6600.
CPU 1.6
RAM 2.4
NB 1.7
FSB and ICH all at MAx on bord BIOS volts
RAM 1:1 4-4-4-8-12
Read dealy is 7 via memset in Windows, I botted at stock clock 266.
I used Clock Gen and uped FSB to 270, clicked apply and it freezes.
Has been doing this everytime. This is the first time i have tried it at stock clock.
In clock gen i am setting the right PPL, ICS 954123 and am clicking read clocks, nothing more happens and i then click exit to close that part. Open PLL control and it's reading everything as it should be!
I have no idea whats doing it. Clockgen version is 1.0.5.3 latest off there site!
Have tried SET FSB only gave me a max of 307fsb which worked!
I also can via BIOS go all the way to 407mhz before it wont boot anymore.
Any ideas as the 6600 does do 3.8!
can someone using this motherboard please tell us all what sort of overclock you guys are getting with q6600 g0.
regards
hiya pete on clockgen, you have to tick ignore gsb/pci on the pll setup if you haven't already done so
Does anyone know where I can get the latest Drivers for the ALC882M Realtek Audio on this motherboard?
Thank you! 3 forums i posted about the clock gen on and manny replys latter the 1st reply back to the question is with the answer and it works. I got to 419 then went to 421 and it froze! Guess it's my cooling. Tomorrow will have better. Just about to have a go at soldering some volt reading points, bord is modded already but i don't like finger between 2 GFX and probe waling over mobo.
when i enable memory remapping to use 4gb in vista i get a BSOD in the first 5 minutes... took me a while to narrow it down to that perticular setting but i have to say its pissing me right off. updated to the latest bios and problem remains. Roll on X38....
Could be something to do with your X-Fi card? I've read countless people with Vista + 4GB + X-fi getting blue screens and all sorts of problems. I'm quite surprised that my X-fi appears to be working fine at the moment *touches wood*.
oh well i forgot to mention, i'm having issues with audio on both this sound card(in sig) and an m-audio 2496... within 3d apps in both windows xp and vista 64bit. its sending me mad, its like an intermittant break in sound with all this digital violent niose drownding out everything else. it started this week and it nearly blew up my speakers.... i've still got to check my bass bins for tears thats how bad it is.... i've looked all over the net for a solution but i cant even find anyone else with the problem. this leads me to suspect its the motherboard itself. the actual hardware and not a bios update. the bios is the only other thing that has changed so i havnt ruled that out. but why hasnt anyone else reported having this problem.... i hope that x38 board comes out soon cos i think my board is on its way out....:(
I have 4GB and an XFI card. try different PCI slots for the XFI, also I cannot use the mic on my XFI with this setup, rather my mic is with the onboard sound and sound is with the XFI, the only way I could get ventrilo to work correctly without me sounding like a robot...
Let's just hope Intel X38 does not do what nvidia did with the 680i and rob everyone's money... What a complete rip off overpriced chipset the 680i is, 400 + for a mobo, give me a friggin break....
I have 6gb and an xfi in vista 64, I have not had problems with blue screening after memory remapping. I have the xfi in the second pci slot if that helps (I also have the first revision of the board).
If you have performance memory it may need more then 1.8v to be stable at its usual setting, its possible that with remap off and less memory being used its ok at lower voltages but it needs more with remap turned on.
P5WDH; BIOS 2301; Rev 1.02g/66MA0G; 2gB PC-8800 (details in sig)

- lower 100% temps, about 16% less average, both CPU case and Core
- more tests soon.....
- no issues with BIOS settings sticking across multiple boots

Short 30min OCCT v1.1.1-b5 Test Results:
i swapped out my B3 with a new G0 this week, updated the bios and cannot get vcore to stick, i keep on finding it back at auto so i cant bench.
as far as giving my ram more volts, no point its ran much faster with the same timings and volts its on now. it is underclocked at the moment to keep the ratio 1/1 with the cpu. upping the volts is something i did anyway just in case and of course it didnt work. they are getting 2.2v anyway....
the sound thing is doing my head in and now i have all the other hardware i have disabled being picked up everytime i boot.... asus need to get this bios fixed pronto....
oh yeah heres my G0 info.... L725B020 PACK DATE:08/16/07 very new indeed.....
hi there to get the vcore off auto go into the cpu configuation in the bios and just change one of the values then change it back then when you go on vcore you should be able to change the voltage then save reboot and it should stick but if you go in bios again it goes back to auto but if you don't go into bios it sticks, it did with me anyway, the found pci modem/multimedia player was also there with me very annoying i would personally use lawrys modded 2004 bios with the cpu codes for the go steppings
cool thanks for the heads up...
What's the best bios for a Q6600 G0 on this board? Mine just arrived :)
another bios came out today, that and an update of the creative drivers(and loads of random tweaks) seems to of fixed it. i can now have all 4gb enabled without BSOD and i no longer have any sound issues ingame. THANK GOD!!!!
yes it did, nice to see you on the forum nicepun, you been playing bioshock.... good fun aint it m8.... looking forward to the official widescreen patch coming soon and the next ccc which will hopefully allow aa in this game. the game plays really well in dx10, very immersive.... i think i'm gonna have another hour in rapture in a minute... shame theres no co-op...
after installing fraps 64bitvista compatible version i immediatly got BSOD... and its always memory addressing issues.... so thats another program i'm gonna aviod in this os for a couple of versions. i wanted to disprove some of the fps of the hd2900 in bioshock that are being banded about....
purecain, have you tried overclocking the q6600 with the new bios and if so what results are you getting?
Nevermind, I updated to the latest one (2301) and it's working like a sharm. The only thing I'm missing is the ECC memory option. This one seems very stable, but I'll update later with some orthos screens.
So far I reacher more than 3.1GHz with vcore default (1,325v) set in bios.
With 2206 BIO, I tried the following combination on my G0 Q6600:
- 400 FSB / Auto vcore - Result: can't even boot
- 390 FSB / Auto vcore - Result: BSOD after window loading screen
- 388 FSB / 1.375vcore - Result: stuck at windows loading screen
- 387 FSB / 1.375vcore - Result: Boot into windows, ortho error @ ~2 min
- 380 FSB / 1.325vcore - Result: Boot into windows, ortho error @ ~6 min
- 378 FSB / 1.325vcore - Result: Boot into windows, ortho error @ ~20 min
- 375 FSB / 1.325vcore - Result: currently testing...
ram is set to 533MHz for 1:1 ratio, dram is 2.1v, spd enabled, and multiplier enabled at 9x through out the test.
system spec at follow:
Q6600 G0 / Asus Silent Square / 4x 1GB Gskill HZ DDR2 800 / TT Spirit on both NB and SB, no mosfet / TT Toughtpower 700W / Seagate 7200.10 320GB / ATI X1900 XTX
best I can do at stock with 2004 is about 2.7 (2.75 crashes in prime after 2.5 hours), though at load stock is 1.22 for my G0. At 2.7 full prime asus probe says 29c with my fuzion (no chipset or gpu in the loop right now so my cooling is somewhat insane). Hopefully 2301 will do better (probably will test it on Sunday as I am driving my brother to school tomorrow).
I can run Orthos for days with my Q6600 B3 3.2GHz FSB 356MHz but not more.
Watercooled system and Vcore is now at 1.475V, mem 1:1 2.25V CL 4-3-3-1 and bios is 2004.
cant even test, got to go on holiday with the missis and my daughter.... only away for a week. i'll be itchin to get back to my pc thats for sure....
I just upgraded my BIOS to 2004 from 1305 and now my CPU fan is stuck on 100% operation  (it seems to ignore the settings)
Has anyone else noticed this? :( I might go back to 1305
Are there any other BIOS versions anyone else would recommend?
seems to ignore settings, even optimal :( :confused:Quote:
Silent CPU Fan Profile won't work in BIOS when Vcore is above Auto - Try setting to Optimal Fan Profile, worked for me..
I reset the CMOS with jumper as soon as I upgraded :(
I might give the newest BIOS a go tho as I've just had my first hardware crash in nearly 1year and the only thing I have done is update the BIOS :( the settings are exactly as they were with the 1305 BIOS
I did a little FSB testing with the vMCH pencil mod today and thought I would post:
I've had my P5W DH for well over a year now so I figured I could push on it a little to see if something would break. Here are my results for pushing the vMCH:
**All voltages are measured on the board**
1.65 vMCH: 390 max FSB
1.67 vMCH: 401 max FSB
1.71 vMCH: 405 max FSB
1.75 vMCH: 411 max FSB
1.77 vMCH: 420 max FSB
1.81 vMCH: 423 max FSB (odd POSTing issues start)
1.85 vMCH: 425 max FSB (no where near stable, wouldn't POST 25% of the time)
1.91-2.0 vMCH: Would do 427-428 but had crazy rebooting issues which would put the board into some sort of over voltage protection mode which would limit the FSB down to like 290.
I settled at 420 FSB since it's stable enough and the northbridge is still only warm to the touch.
I am curious, what voltages are you guys getting on the board with the new rev boards which allow for 1.85 vMCH in the BIOS?
CPU-Z of the 420 I settled on:
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=234629
I need to set north bridge to 1.85 to even get to boot in with fsb above 350. Then it overheats and wont post for like 15min. So my mobo is deffinitly :banana::banana::banana:ed up in someway but i just dont want to deal with asus to RMA it.
Hello,
First of all im new to this forum and hello to everyone here, its one useful thread :)
Anyways the question is (i have looked throuh this thread and maybe i have some gaps but i dont know about em)
What is the max stable OC for Q6600 B3 or G0 with this mobo?
I know this MOBO gets quirky with quadcores but i havent been able to find a good answer.
It seems like its good till 3,4 maybe 3,6ghz is it true? Im running my p4 prescott atm on the mobo but my Q6600 is coming soon and i want to know if i have to sell this mobo? I dont want to post records but i would like to achive a stable and high oc for everyday use.
I have my FUZION block waiting for it already. And I am also thinking of building AC chiller unit for my system.
I dont like the idea of selling it its a one more thing to deal with...
So if someone who has Q6600 OC-ed on this MOBO could give me a hint i would be thankful. :)
Read in 200's and up, it has been posted time and time again including my bios settings for 3.4GHZ stable...
Thank you
I got the picture. :)
My Q6600 G0 wouldn't go above 3.15Ghz on my P5WDH no matter what bios settings I used. Mine was one of the 1.65v MCH boards. I switched to P5K-E/Wifi but I have plenty of issues with this motherboard. I miss the stability and smoothness of the P5WDH. I can use my Q6600 G0 at 3.6Ghz in my P5K-E/Wifi but I am yet to find 100% stability on this motherboard.
I have an Asus and I have updated the Bios to 2205. I have an E6600 overclocked to 3.00ghz (on air) and it is working fine.. Will this CPU work with this MB with this bios ?
I would like some reassurance please ..
yes it will even 2004 bios or earlier
it should post with 2004, but at least my board seems to have some issue with the g0 (takes forever to post and says invalid cpu microcode, I am considering going to one of the newer beta bios's).
ok i see now he has e66oo in one place there and q66oo in the other guess i should have read it better
I have to agree with that. The P5W DH falls short in many ways when it comes to pushing the OC envelope, especiallly on a QUAD but there is no doubt that compared to many of the P35 and 680i boards, this board is a 24/7 stable board. Once you find a stable OC I have found the P5W DH to be very reliable. I am looking forward to the X38 boards but I am inclined to let some others be my "beta testers" of a 1st generation product, especially ASUS's wonderful 1st generation BIOSes on new chipsets.
just as the screenshot says
needed to give it 1.3800 stable
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=235041
another screenshot to show stability for 24hr FPU cpu test.
http://www.siz.co.il/img/zezyydwzqliw.jpg
and another little question, is it ok to give 2.25 to CellShock memory ?
my memory is rated 2.1 - 2.2 800mhz.
2GB Cellshock (2X1024) DDR II - PC6400 4-4-4-12 (D9GMH) 800MHz
i would like to know if its ok, so my ram wont die after a few months.
with bios 2305 beta
now 24hour stable at 3ghz with 1.36v actual using 2004, prime seems to be running fine at 3.2 with same voltage, if it is still running in a few hours I will try upping fsb again. (right now cpu is set to an fsb of 300 in bios and using clockgen to get up to 355 now, once its confirmed stable I will update bios fsb and play with clockgen again).
24/7 stable at 3 ghz vCore 1.350 in bios, 1.32 actual in Windows. Memory 667 (1:1) 4 4 4 12. Using Lawrywild's 2004 bios. Coretemp 38 38 43 43 idle 60 60 65 65 load (Prime 95) In bios all set on auto except vcore and memory timings. Eist, C1 and Speedstep enabled.
Higher speed was either unstable, doesn't mater of bios settings, or to hot for my taste, so I find above setting the most stable and reliable for everyday use. Since I use my rig mostly for video encoding it is almost 100% (for x264) faster than my old E6600 at 3.3 ghz.
Maybe it was just a typo, but I'd also like to know where to get the 2305 beta Bios.
ok here ya go beta bios http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us hope it works for ya
got my q6600 go stepping but got weird on bios i set to 390 x8 so i rebooted to find it shows 3.51ghz vcore is 1.41 i think around that area.
but when i open cpu z it shows 3.123. but when i right click my computer shows 3.51ghz again.
anyone shed some light on this using new latest bios
also after i installed the new cpu it takes like 6min to load up windows i dont know why it shows windows sign with scroll bar forever i tried safe mode etc. do i need to format? was perfect on e6600
quick update guys changed multiplyer to 9 and now it shows correct reading it seems stable done orthos for a while.
reports 3.4ghz easily and i havent pushed it properly yet. getting stupid temperatures 43 idle and 70 load??? i layed the As5 a bit thicker than usual i will prob have to undo that now.
I just tried the 2206 BIOS and the CPU fan still runs at 100% :( also there is another problem where you cannot disable the onboard Audio.
So I thought I'd give the 2301 BIOS a go just to see and it seems to be the same as the 2206 :( but I put the audio into vista mode and then disabled it, so now it seems to be detected as a unknown device.
I'm just using speedfan to get my cpu fan down to 75%-80% so it's not noisy, need to find something similar for linux now tho :(
I notice the BIOS program only allows updates aswell, I was going to try the 1305 or even 1503 BIOS if I could get it to force a downgrade
you have to use afudos to down grade bios and older one 2.12 or something like that
n1 :)
I tried loads of BIOSes but ended up going all the way back to the 1305 which I was already on before.
BIOS's I tried:
1305 - been running it for nearly a year, no probs so far
1503 - CPU Fan Problem (100% all the time)
1506 - CPU Fan Problem (100% all the time)
1601 - CPU Fan Problem (100% all the time)
2004 - CPU Fan Problem (100% all the time) - had hardware crash in quake4 :(
2206 - CPU Fan Problem (100% all the time) & Unable to disable onboard Audio
2301 - CPU Fan Problem (100% all the time) & Unable to disable onboard Audio
Are you saying you have a Q6600 G0 stable at 3.51Ghz on a P5WDH? If so, do you have the 1.65V MCH version or the 1.85V MCH version of the P5WDH?
Because I thought with the quads on this board we were limited to about 3.2Ghz? If the latest bios has fixed that, I might dump my P5K-E and come back to P5WDH.
I seem to be stuck around 3.15 with the regular 2004, its perfectly stable at 1.37 v actual (and my temps are realy good) but even going up to 1.45 (actual) I cant get it stable at 3.2 (reboots after x amount of time, most was 5 hours). Temps are not an issue (speedfan is showing about 40c at 1.47 with full prime load for each core).
what brand of memory runs well in 4 X 1GB for vista 64 on this board?
I have 4 X 1 GB Corsair value ram and can never get Vista 64bit to install, keeps getting BSOD even with memory remap off (onboard still 4GB with 3GB useable). Takes off 1 stick and installation can start. my P5W-DH bios is 2301 and running E6850 cpu.
Try reshuffling the ram to go to different slot also not successful. The 4GB rams was working well previously in my Windows XP 32 bit although i can only detect 3GB in windows xp 32bit.
Any advise?
CPU or Northbridge temps? I didn't record NB temps since I was not worried about them, but even at 1.9 vMCH the heat sink was only warm. Granted I have very good air flow.
CPU @ 3780 w/ 1.6 Vcore: Idles @ 32C and loads up around 70C after a few hours.
Just a lapped E6600 (29F), big typhoon, good air flow and 22C ambient temp.
