have tried that version, have tried afudos again... no way I get that multi option for 740 dothan... :( everytime after reflashing with 1022 version I get checksum error during the first boot, but when ajusting bios settings that dissapears.
are there any tricks to get that working? guys, the ones with dothans with 533bus please, attch your working bios here in a zip or rar archive, please... p4c800-e dlx of course

thanx! I have just reflashed from windows that 1023 beta bios, multi now works in BIOS and I have managed to boot at 201FSB, but...
then was it a BIOS bug, or is it really AGP not locked when booting at other speed? then setfsb and clockgen are wrong????

If you set fsb to 200 or less and try and up it via clockgen, the PCI/AGP locks arent engaged. Boot at 201 and they'll lock fine.
ok, now have started priming at 201x12=2412MHz at 1.45V in BIOS.
what about booting at higher than 201FSB? - I could not boot at 230, but could up from windows up to 245 with setfsb and run some benches, though it locked when I uppped it to 250, might be the chipset then.... are those AGP/PCI not locked either if it is more than 201??? :confused:
then there is a thing that sometimes setFSB or clockgen crashes if you change it like 20FSB down for egzample.... :confused: is it bug or what?
I have noticed that my 740 does NOT boot with multi set to 8x when at 201FSB and crashes in windows when set.... but boots at higher or lower one. did not try all of them yet with different FSB...
you tell that agp is not locked when booting lower than 201FSB, but then WHY clockgen and setfsb show them as locked???? well, when you boot at 200 yes they show that they are NOT locked, but at 170FSB they ARE.... :confused:
If you boot 201 or above then the PCI and AGP will be locked at 66/33.
Had a similar issue, iirc 8* wouldnt booot at all, 9-12 were fine, didnt try lower though.
Not sure how the AGP/PCI locks work on these boards tbh, only VERY recently moved over to them. Guessing at 170, the board is running a lock based on 166 fsb (ie setting 167 locks the bus) so 170 would be locked.
Thats only speculation though, someone who knows the answer will be able to explain it properly for you.
the point is that I was not able to boot at 180FSB, anything above 173FSB in windows gave errors in prime, but was able to post at 201FSB... well, now I the maximum I can boot is 238FSB (5:4) and currently with 10x ans started priming just now. anything above 238FSB is IMPOSSIBLE whatever voltage I give to it..... though strangely I was able to up to 260FSB (it locked there) with setfsb in windows in small 1-2FSB jumps. I was able to run a 3dmark 2001se at 245x9.....Quote:

I just do not believe a 875 chipset would crap out at such a low 238FSB, but then again, if it would be a chipset, there would be a graduate decrease in stability and ability to boot when increasing FSB.... :confused:

then why do you tell without a lock? when I launch setfsb or clockgen, it tells me agp is ok and fixed at its 66MHz.... are they wrong? :confused:
IIRC all the SATA's are locked on the Intel boards as they are controlled by the SB...
As for no boots, thats a random one, however 201 -> is where its at, so wouldnt worry tbh.
well, I DO worry cause I do not like setting all the fsb and multis when booted to windows, I want a setup to boot with the highest options. I will try will less hdds and then will change the default thermal compound of NB to AS3 these days. and will see if anything changes
and Highland3r, what voltage do you use for those twinmos?
I have SATA -drives crapping out on Intel -sata ports when uppin´ fsb to over 210 wit no agp/pci locks on (P4P800SE). Without a SATA drive system works flawlesly to 217FSB when the memory craps out. Hav to install OCZ boostah to get some more out of those new Twinmos BH-5 sticks.
If you use Nvidia graphics adapter the boards lock agp/pci -bus when booting at 200fsb (PAT on), when usin´ a Radeon card they don´t. Wit Ati -card u have to use 201fsb to lock up. Big downside is that u don´t get PAT memory boost then.
Thats why i don´t use SATA-drive in this system... u can try to test the difference for example wit Everest PAT vs no PAT. Huge loss in memory performance when PAT is not enabled and u cannot make it up with TW865 -memtweaker just by enabling performance mode and tightening the RMS latency. Maybe i hav to by a Nvidia -card :(
When agp/pci locks are enabled there really should not be any reason why 217fsb would be the problem for these 865/875 Asus -boards when the memory is not the limiting factor.Quote:

Tried these settings again. Far to much fluctuation of power at "1.5v" so I tried 1.55v.
It gives me a 1.49 + in fluctuation but is a bit better.

I've decided to give the dothan a try for some benching sessions. However I must admit I know nothing about intel but experimenting is always part of the fun when it comes to Overclocking!
I do need a little advice before I go out in the next few days and waste the money I got for selling my FX55...
Is the P4C800E Deluxe the best board so far for Overclocking a dothan for good results?
Is it worth spending the extra for the high end dothan chips or am I fine with a 760? (will be going single stage, one each for cpu and gpu)
I'll be spending a lot of time reading and learning while figuring all this out and I'll probably be bothering some of you more experienced intel users... thanks again for all your help as always!!! (^_^)
760 is ENOUGH! :) and yes, for going skyhigh FSB, P4C is the best so far :D

I've always had better FSB results with 865 boards. Haven't tried both p4c and p4p with Dothan though...
