Just wondering, I have the chance to upgrade my UD5 to UD7 for 100€ atm, is it worth it or not?
Got meself a LinX stable at 4.531, HT on for my 980X. Don't know why my girlyplops are low. I booted into 'Diagnostic mode' and turned up my memory timings..........

Gflops are off in LinX, I think he needs to update it.
Check back on the last page and you can see my Gflops in Sandra where they look to be correct, compared to LinX where they are off like you see as well.
I do know if you disable HT LinX then gets them fairly close, but I really think he needs to update the coding for 980X
is it normal that Everest only shows SPDs for my RAM at 380, 457 and 533Mhz?
Also in my BIOS, it only runs at 1066 instead of the expected 1800
And if I change the memory multiplier to for example 1333 (10 instead 8), it doesn't adjust the other timings with it (although everything is on auto atm)
does the RAM really only contain SPDs for those 3 speeds and not the higher ones?
That would mean I manually have to set my timings when going above 1066 right?
I'm also getting errors in test 4 of memtest86+ 4.00 with everything @ auto (so the lazy 1066 speed)
I just tried reseating the CPU, but that didn't help... :(
edit:
Increasing the voltage of the RAM from 1,5v to 1,62v (and in between) didn't help. (it starts failing test 2 then)
Does this mean my RAM is DOA? what else can I try to see if it works at the "supported" settings?
The RAM is on the compatibility list of the UD7 and atm all settings are at the default...
Hy guys. I finally manage to set up my rig after several weeks. UD7 booted up right out of the box, no problems here. Only thing that concerns me is that I'm afraid that my Bolt-Thru-Kit for my TRUE might be pressing some of chokes around cpu socket so this worries me although I did place some paper on those chokes and in the mean time I'll keep my fingers crossed so they don't crack over time. :)
Managed to squeeze some more out of my Gulfie with HT still on amazingly.....Gflops still a bit down.

SPD info is just what is programmed into the memory is all, you will need to set things yourself manually if you want to run 1600+Mhz
Auto is not going to work either, you will need to set your own Uncore Multi, ram multi, QPI/Vtt voltage, Vdimm voltage, and timings.
Hi guys.
I was reading this thread from a long time and now i want to buy this board. But in shop guy tells me that this board and KINGSTON 3x2GB 2000cl9 wont work together. Anyone have those mems on board?
They work fine, but you can't run 2000Mhz for daily use without excessive voltages
thanks for the info...
I do found it weird that the max SPD speed is 1066Mhz, I was expecting more something like 1200Mhz at least...
Also does anyone know why it is failing memtest86+ already at 1066Mhz?
What is a good way to check if the memory works at the officially supported (non OC) speeds?
I need to know that before I try OCing it... Cause if it doesnt even support the speeds, then I need to RMA...
RAM prices has gone up lately. Don't spend too much on fancy RAM, X58 has so much RAM-performance that is will be overkill for desktop use, anyways.
Get a good 1600MHz CL7/CL6/CL8, and it will preform the same as 2000MHz CL9 in daily desktop use. Corsair, G.Skill, and several others have several good 1600MHz.
Ur right. Just i need to find 1600cl 7 mems. U have any idea wich would be best?
I don't know which one is best, but I'm really happy with Corsair XMS3 1600MHz CL7 (TR3X6G1600C7). This was really cheap, but the price has gone up by ~40% since I bought it last year. G.Skill has some good RAM too, as far as I know.
EDIT:
Just checked at the latest price, and the same retailer is actually selling it for 69% more than i bought it.
Yes.
G.Skill PC3-12800 PI Series CL6 (6-8-6-20)

It would be great to buy g skill cl6 but at the moment i can buy only Corsair DOMINATOR 3x2GB cl 8 or Corsair XMS3 3x2GB, 1600MHz DDR3, CL7 so my gues that best will be to get mems with cl7 cause price is the same and i can have them with UD7 tomorrow:)
p.s anyone have on this board i930?
The on board w block is ok ish, but I replaced mine with a MIPS block - much better and looks nicer too. Have a look at mips-computer.com and see for yourself.
Mark
Ps I have used the dominator 1600 6gb kit and it is good, 8 8 8 24 timings as standard, but solid performance.
Using the EK full cover block here and I am very please with it so far. I have the black acetal version, not as pretty as see through one but it still look nice with black compression fitting. The only 2 glitch I had was, you have to sand down the connor of the atx power connector. It is a very very tight fit. Also, big compression fittings wont fit because the chipset inlet and outlet position is too close to each other.
My temp was good, chipset never see pass 50c. I couldn't find the pwm temp or I think there isn't one on the this board lol. Cannot be sure because ET6 never worked for me, always been using everest to check temps on the MB.
