I work for Microsoft in the PSS Division designing server systems for large blue chip companies.
The 32 bit version does support 4GB BUT you will only have 3 - 3.2GB Available to programs within the OS. It's the same with XP 32 BIT.
The only way to get applications to access the WHOLE 4GB is to run the 64 bit version of Vista or XP.

I found the problem with 2507.
It does not like my Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 when in recovery mode.
It defaults to 1.84V and won't come up.
I don't have this issue with anything previous to 2507. The memory runs fine at 1.84V even though it is rated for 2.2V.
So now not only do I have to move a jumper. I have to swap memory, and in order to do that, remove the 8800GTX since Intel needed to move the memory 1/4 inch futher to the right for the handles to clear in an open position.
Can somebody at Intel please make a BIOS past 2330 that overclocks? Geez?
I had my E6700 @ 3.66GHz even on 2395. Now I can't even do 3.33GHz at any strap with anything past 2395. Unbelievable.
Wire a switch to replace the jumper... Why not layoff Intel and figure out your problem, 2507 clocks every bit as well as 2330... :nono:Quote:

I don't think anybody on this board will agree with the statement that anything past 2330 actually overclocks well.
The exact same settings on 2395 will NOT work on anything past it. Period. Even if I up the voltages some more. So I will still lay on Intel until they get somebody who can write a decent BIOS past 2330.
I've been using 2395 for weeks. To me, it is at least as good as 2333 if not better in terms of overclocking.Quote:

I agree. I feel as though each BIOS release has gotten better actually. Disable the watchdog and C1E and all is good. :toast:

On this board, what does XD Technology stand for? It's enabled by default.
Also, should I enable Advanced Power Slope?
I know the latter has been answered way back in this thread but I don't feel like digging for it.

Power Slope = Enabled, some says they havent find any difference, some says it reduce vdroop. I have it enabled no problembs so far.
I have run into a small issue with my xbx2 setup.
For the second time, my system has "frozen".
Both instances have been simply browsing the web etc, not stressing the system at all.
Does anyone know what type of problem related to overclocking an xbx2 is most likely to cause a freeze?

Are some of these options like XD and watchdog new BIOS options since 2333? I don't recall seeing them in 2333 and remember reading further back that watchdog gave problems with overclocking. Am i going to have a problem with posting if i am overclocked now and i flash my BIOS and watchdog is enabled by default? Does flashing the BIOS delete all the previous settings on this board because if so then i better save them first! I'm just glad they fixed the hard drive led issue. Looks like i will be updating my BIOS tomorrow night. :)

Anyone using the Bad Axe 2 motherboard and RAID5?
Reason I ask is I am thinking of doing (3) 320GB Seagate hard drives in a RAID5 config on this board. Yes, I am a gamer, but much more importantly, I use my PC for all kinds of things and I like the idea of having some fault tolerance without doing RAID10 with 4 drives. I do backup often because RAID is not a substitute for hard backups, but having 640GB of drive space (give or take) with the one extra drive as parity sounds good to me.
Interested in any thoughts on how this works on the Bad Axe 2, which controller you are using, etc.
Performance and Gaming: I care how my games perform, but everything I have read and benchmarks I have seen indicates that RAID0 (while fastest) is not everything it is professed to be in the gaming world. I don't really care how fast my games load. I care more about data integrity, decent performance, and a bit of a parachute in case one of the drives goes south on me.

System passes 4 hours of Orthos small FFT, and 4 hours of Blend.
I am running Win x64, with a fair amount of beta software etc. that could be entirely responsible for the freezes. I have had two freezes in the span of 2 weeks only, so they are not incredibly frequent. I was just wondering if out of your experiences any lack of a specific voltage is most likely to be responsible for a freeze.
