Great pictures on the last page! I went out and did some photography in Zürich with a friend of mine, he's teaching me many things. I got a couple of shots that I'm pleased with, here's the first one, a nice little view of the Limmat, one of the rivers flowing from the Lake of Zürich through the city itself.

I love the shot Jokester! I always try getting similar silhouettes when I do sunsets, I love the effect.
Elisha, your child makes the most awesome faces. I like the pictures very much.

thanks for the pics incore :up:
The jpg processing of the Canon 500D sucks. I constantly have to set -EV and the dynamic range is bad. Here's a comparison with one shot with camera processing and the other one in Photoshop. WB set to daylight, everything else auto (in PS raw convertion settings), +25 fill light. Took me 15s, basically no real tweaking, could have improved it a lot more if I wanted to. This is just to show the difference @ auto conversion
Let's just say I'm not using the camera to process jpgs anymore ;)

Hah :D My camera didn't shoot a single image in JPG :) Digital Photo Professional is quite alright for starters if you ask me. I used it up to now, although not being able to align the picture sucks (and that's why I installed Photoshop :D It's :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing expensive though :( ).

What do you guys think? I just took this little photo (macro? The flower is only 4cm wide) about 30 minutes ago, did some post processing (chromatic aberration correction) and unsharp mask.
Model = Fujifilm S700/S5700
Exposure Time = 1/250" (1/125")
F Number = F3.5
ISO = 64
Exposure Bias = ±1EV
Focal Length = 63mm (35mm equiv. = 280mm)
Elisha, those are some extremely vibrant colors, would you mind posting the EXIF for the image? I'd love to know a bit more about the settings used!
Xcel, you're right, that first shot is incredibly over exposed.
Fr3ak, both are nice, the green is perhaps the main interest of the image so I prefer the colored one. Still, the B&W isn't bad either, interesting subject. I'd love to shoot something similar with a wide-angle lens.
BeepBeep2, not bad at all. Your camera seems to be doing a good job with taking the pictures. I'm not really a flowers kind of person and I'm no expert anyways, but I think the picture would do better without the other flowers in the background, even though I like the depth of field that you've achieved.
Here's my picture for today:

I can't decide if I should wish that I would have focused on either group of lights. It seems as though there are the three windows on the left grouped together in one group and the five on the right in another, but taking two pictures of the individual groups makes me seem like I'm missing out on the whole image. I'm also too far left and the image isn't quite straight, I'm having great trouble with this one. Thoughts?
that RAW file was processed in Capture One before sent to LightRoom. it was the first time i used C1 so i'm not sure what it did as it stripped the exif.
however here it is:
f5, 1/2000, ISO 200
the lens was Minolta 28-135mm f4-4.5
i'll reprocess the image again and upload so the exif is intact.
i exposed for the sky and used the onboard flash for fill.
then i used the adjustment brush in LR to under expose the sky a little more and plenty of fill light to lift the shadows off the horses body!
the combination of fill and recovery sliders make it look almost like a painting!
**edit**
tried to edit the original RAW as close as possible to the first version. straightened it a little as well. this one is a slightly brighter and a little more vibrant than the first one:

I need some help finding a picture in this thread. I cannot find it so I am thinking its gone or its not loading for my computer. It was a picture of some U.S soldiers on a mountain top in Afghanistan IRC. Any help finding it again will be greatly appreciated. I have search this entire thread about 3 times and still cannot find it.
