abit is working hard on a BIOS update. Give them a little more time.
err.... 2 months since a bios update for a board they put into their "max" series seems a bit long... maybe i'm wrong. :rolleyes:Quote:

There are bugs that need to be fixed and additional features that overclockers asked for, so the next update might be a rather big one. A solid BIOS needs some work and testing. We all want it to be stable and performing well, right? That's what abit wants too ;)Quote:

Nice clocks. :toast:
I think hardmods are really needed ~445fsb, but I wish I could test an E6300 or X6800 first.Quote:

Just make sure you wear an oven mit.
Im curious as to what cooling your using and what your max fsb is at 10x multi. Im only asking because im looking into getting a 6700 or 6800 soon and only really just started noticing the people that are having max fsb issues with the board are using 6700s.Quote:

The other 975x boards arent that great and 680i performance seems a little off and has damn near the same fsb constraints.
I personally would only recommend the aw9d-max to someone willing to modify it to get the most out of it but i think if you already own one it wouldnt make much sense to get rid of it.
I'm gonna repost my work with this board.

Thanks Nemesis,
I actually went ahead and cut the pipe off at the max sink with a hack saw. I don't know if that was daft or not.
I actually, while tidying up, just pulled the pipe out of the NB heatsink, and it came out pretty easily, so maybe cutting wasn't the way to go. Ah well bugger it.
I've stuck an Extreme Spirit II (Couldn't find coolermaster) on the NB.
The Xeon I picked up today was L628B211, which I'm hoping is a good sign. The ram I picked up I'm guessing is pretty crap though. Gskill GBNQ. Will change that later.
I've got a galaxy 1 watercooling the Xeon. Ambient about 27c. Mild overclock of 2.87
Guru reports. Idle
CPU 37c
System 33.0c
PWM1 36c
PWM2 34c
PWM3 36c
PWM4 33c
Don't really understand the above, but is that looking okay so far? Cpu Voltage is jumping about between 1.24 and 1.33. I think I set it to about 1.33 in bios. Need to check.

To test 7x, I will need an X6800 or E6300, NBCC just gets too high.Quote:

~370 * (default multi/set multi) or (9/7) = ~480 fsb wish is too much for an unmodded board.

The only other thing about this board is my 4:5 and 2:3 are rather useless with an E6600.Quote:

for those of you using the tuniq tower with the aw9d-max, what is the best orientation in which to mount this cooler? I am concerned with the caps on the side and also wonder if it is best to have the fan facing the exhaust of the case, or up towards the power supply?
Thanks.
I wanted to post a screen of my guru temps, only thing is they are not clearly seen. 29c to 34c from top to bottom. @ Nemesis, very nice 06 score.
