I have the OCZ GameXtreme 700w working with the P5W as well. Now the board only requires the 4 pin CPU connector, & it should not be possible to plug the wrong one(requires cpu 1). My guess is on the 24 pin ATX power connector, the extra 4 pins on the far left that can detach are not secured properly. Give it a try.:)

nothing..... I checked everything now again and nothing. I think I will need buy a different PSU.

any advice for request a different PSU in Newegg ?? CoolMax, Seasonic, etc ?

On board sound ( Seems better then my old audigy).

Same type of RAM (8500C5) No problem running it at 1:2.
Using bios 1305.

Well, I flashed my Bios to 1407 and still I have this problem.

Does anyone know what this is because of? and most importantly how I can fix it?

Long boot time

Hi.
The Windows xp loading time took before about 4 seconds and now it takes around 20 seconds, this started after i changed my LG DVD-rom IDE to Samsung DVD burner SATA.
So where the problem is we know.
I tried to format but that didnt help.
On bios it is like this:

Primary IDE Master: [Not Detected] And "Not innstaled"
Primary Ide Slave: [Not Detected] And "Not innstaled"
Third IDE Master : [WDC WD740GD-00FLA1]
Third IDE Slave: [WDC .....]
Fourth IDE MAster: [Not detected] Auto and none, dont help.
Fourth Ide Slave : [TSSTcorpCD/DVDW SH]

What can be the problem?
I have tried to disable qfan but that didnt heelp either. :(

A good dual 12v rail or better. Buy a good brand and don't just go by total wattage. Particularly look at the total wattage available on the 12v rails.

When I first put my board together my PC2-6400 RAM would only run at DDR2-800. I changed the PSU and it works fine now.

I won't know till I get it Thursday. 69 means it was made/processed in September, so it should be a newer board than the others we've seen. I have my fingers crossed that maybe they will clock better as they get newer like the E6600 conroes appear to be doing.:)

if you have 1x PCI-E video card, remember to use PCI-E #1 power connector on 700W OCZ GX psu

It was able to spot/show a 5VSB power rail failure when 2 other testers showed the power supply as GOOD. Some folks may not like Antec products, but I've only had one of their PSU units fail. My count with Enermax is now 6, 3 of which DOA.

Their 550HE model is nice, but antec doesn't make a psu sufficient enough for a conroe dual graphics build. I've not seen a psu over 550w continuous.:stick:

i know its not asus p5w related but seeing as most of you have this type of ram; what is a safe voltage for the g-skill "hz" ram? At the moment ive got it at 2.05v, the board defaulted it to 1.8v at the beginning.. its got a 100mhz overclock and was wondering how high it could actually go... (it booted at ddr1ghz with 1.8v but was unstable when playing ram-intensive games like bf2)

memory performance not to par

Not sure if it's just me, but my Corsair DDR2-800 PC2-6400C4 memory is only running at PC2-4800 right now. Is that because the voltage needs to be higher for the memory (even if the next memory voltage setting higher shows up as red in the bios?) or is there something else I can do to get my memory up to PC2-6400. Right now I'm running my e6600 Conroe processor at 2.88GHz w/ 7950 GX2. Any suggestions on optimizing my system beyond this would be wonderful as well. Thanks a bunch.

P.S. - my psu is a BFG 650W.

2.4v max with good airflow in your case(they will get pretty warm). 2.5-2.6v for max clocking & benching with active airflow over your ram. I would not run over 2.5v for sustained periods of time, its been known to kill some memory(crucial).

Until my boot drive died, I was semi-successful in reinstalling XP Home by attaching the drive from my PIII machine to a P5W and doing a 'refresh' reinstall from the CD. All my old problems like no 24/7 active bluetooth connection to make the network happy came along just fine, once all the new motherboard drivers and such were installed. Performance was weak, though, but everything seemed to be where it needed to be to work.

The drive died from defragmenting overheat, and restarting from scratch just means reinstalling things every day for months. If you do try it, back up the boot drive every time it looks like it's working...

If anything, get one that uses individual cables that you can attach at will.

I have no use for SATA power plugs, and plenty of use for more of the standard LP4 ones. Since nobody makes an adapter to use the SATA ones for LP4 jobs (just the other way), I have wires just sitting there doing nothing next to a jungle of LP4 splitters...

I've had bad luck with Enermax PSUs failing. They worked great while they were working, but they died early deaths. 2 died after some pulled the power plug out of the wall (separate occasions) and one died when the AC power at my house failed. At least they failed in a nice way, though. No smoke, fire or murdered PC components.

so would it be safe to say 2.3v for 24/7 ? And does anyone reckon i can push this to 1.1ghz if its at 2.3-2.4v?

I just had this same problem except my 3rd IDE Master says Lite-On SATA... etc, and my 3rd IDE Slave says WDR WD1500... etc.

Any Fixes?

you should have no problem. Simpy uninstall chipset drivers before you change the HD, and then plug and play. :)

Hard to say, not all sticks overclock like mad @ any voltage. I've not gotten mine to break 1 ghz yet even @ 5-5-5-15. I mostly stay between 880-900 Mhz 1:1. I prefer to run 1:1 and since I won't buy anything other than a E6600 with X975 chipset, there's no need for above 1 ghz sticks for me. Pending the 600 board that could change though. Anything above 2.2v I recommend either good airflow in you case or something active over the ram. I use the evercool crab myself.

Yea the HZ's will do 1000 but since the P5W has some stability problem on certain memory divider, you are limited to only some. Like 1:1 for instance you can only do about 430-450 if you're lucky. That's one of the thing I was hoping they will fix with newer revision.

well, don`t you just hate the cold boots? ( the fan`s going on and off while cold booting with the freaky clicking / spinning of your hd`s :( ) . If asus solves the boot strap problem just like they did with the p5bs with oc`d settings, this board rock.

I can't get the built-in wifi to work. Windows doesn't seem to find it at all, and installing the newest drivers off asus.com does nothing. Any ideas? Do I have to enable something in the bios?
