kinda off topic a bit, but i notice alot of you guys running DFI boards are running rather high Chipset voltages. Im running my 3800X2 with stock chipset volts at 260X10. Ive been struggling a bit to find stability with other components besides the CPU (smallFFT 12 hours stable). It seems i had to loosen up my ram timings to 3-4-4-10 to run 1:1, but i guess anything is possible. My question is, at around what FSB do you need to start upping the chipset voltage to maintain stability? Ive heard from some that they go up to 300 or so with stock voltage, but i just joined the DFI club so im not sure about anything.

I'm running a 3800+ X2 at 260 x 10 2.5 3 3 7 with 2.8 VDIMM on TCCD -- other voltages didn't seem to help the O/C.

I'm having some wierd stuff going on too.
i can do 2.5 ghz with my x2 3800 @ 1.36V prime stable. But When i try 2.52ghz its not prime stable even at 1.5v !! what gives?? 2.52 @ 1.55 temps are 50C and prime just failed. after 3 mins. it appears my core 1 is a poopy. this sucker simply WONT do a single mhz over 2.5ghz regardless of voltage.

I think that's a great chip with 2.5 at that low voltage. Will be an excellent long-time runner in a server.

If you really want to go higher you might consider trading with somebody who can go higher with volts but wants low volts.

is the 81.84 the only nvidia driver that helps with x2's? ... does the newly official 81.85 help?

all the 80 series help, but i think 81.85 are the latest, and they are pretty good from what i hear.

all 80 series got performance boost for X2 but 81.85 ar the latest and WHQL :D

The majority of people don't ever turn the chipset v up. As far as I know the chipset doesn't really get overclocked. Everything it does is locked at least in theory. I've heard of some cases where guys say it helped though.

I'm using 81.85 and it helps -- I can't tell if it's better than 81.84 though.

not getting enough out of my setup anyone with some good tips

can't get past 2883mhz on my 4800x2 liquid cooled with 2gig crucial pc4000 on an asus premium. just won't stay stable memory will only go to 472 3x I'm wondering should i be happy with these kind of speeds.or is ther some one out there that can help me get to 3000mhz thats the goal pretty much tried every thing. any x2 guys out there with som tips. I'm thinking its the memory I'm really a corsair guy but wanted to try the crucial

i've owned two 4400+ both topped out between 2865 - 2910 mhz

still pretty nice with IHS on and gotta think you are getting close to a 700 mhz OC on two cores.

I remember when 50-100 mhz was a killer OC :D

athlon slot A 800mhz would have to OC to 1050 mhz to equal your results with the 4400+ and the X2 has to do that on both cores.

oops you have a 4800+ either way nice results

on the 4400x2 is it a 10x or did you bring it down to get that 283.5 on the 4800x2 with 2t mem i'll get it up to about 237 w/12x multiplier

I managet to get my X2 3800 to 2,7ghz dual prime stable but unfortunately I have to rise the VCORE from 1,552V (@2,6ghz) to 1,664V (@2,7ghz)...can I keep at 1,664V for 24/7?...or is better to run it at 2,6ghz with lower VCORE and when want to play some games change the settings higher?

p.s. The CPU still have the IHS and is water cooled...at 1,664V reach at max 46°C...

That's certainly not worth it.

I just wouldn't do > 1.65 volts at all.

Especially not on a X2. You see it is sufficient that only one of your cores realizes it has a problem with that vcore and the whole thing goes to Stovo-Khor (sp?).

I doubt you can feel the difference between 2.6 and 2.7 GHz in a game.
