i'll check tomorrow in the morning...well..the systems starts (fans spin...even keyboard leds light up) but screen just doesn't work...it stays on no signal screen....it reminds me when i killed some years ago a p4p800 with condensation....this time board work for sure though as i tried it with other p4's....
i'll check adaptor as you said...and i'll connect pc speaker from a case near the bench rig to hear if "asus bios little girl" has something to tell me about it.... :D

have just put P4C800 dlx, ct-479 and dothan 740 (1733MHz) together with the crappy stock heatsink/fan combo.... now it runs at 2157MHz at 50C at its 1.325V. when changing under windows it craps out if I put like 170FSB even with multiplier lowered... :( It is able to post at 201FSB at 1.600V but only to post... :(
what can I do? is there any other heatsink, which would be all copper and fit this combo?

try to put the jumper on fsb 100 instead 133, it might help!

yes, the jumper is at 400FSB - I did not change it - it came like that.
packdate?... Well, it comes from my laptop, so I have no Idea. the one I put into laptop at the moment is dothan 725 (1600@2130 at 1.34V and not a notch lower) from philipines and packdate of that one is 05/06/2005.

the one I have on P4C800 dlx is 1.73Ghz and it was able to run in a laptop 100% stable 24/7 at 56C at its speed at 1.052V

and I have put it here because it was said that 533FSB models tend to reach higher fsb....

I have a feeling that it is a cooling that stops me from reaching high FSB...

oh, i was just messing around with it at spd.. te timings were 2.5 4 4 7. ill adjust some of the timings and play with a bit. it did 2.5 (10x250) at 1:1 and did 30sec with the same timings.

i just need to figure out how to adjust my voltages up.. eist gives me the 1.356 and down options, but nothing higher... im sure its just me not being able to find it.

i don't think so, because my dothan 725 @2.4 temp on p4c800ed (bios 1022.003) is also at 56°C (stock cooler undervolted).
you may have a "bad" 740...

it's my cooler who is undervolted, concerning my 725 i was compelled to increase the vcore up to 1.425v in bios

Need to take this setup out of it's case and get some volts to the ram. (and cool everything..)

Temps are mightly low! I love these chips.

hey how did you reach that high fsb? do need any mod for that? what cooling are you using? now I am testing my 725 and it is not able to surpass 160FSB, no matter what multiplier and voltage.

im using vapo . but your problem is the agp lock . you have to boot at 201 fsb .so the agp locks . use the 1022 biose .it sets multipler to 6 . so it should not be any probs booting at 201

it just fly... 1.35v boxed cooler it hits 2700mhz at 1M pi...

I use that 1022.003 beta bios, but:
740 (revision C0) does not work stable at more than 174FSB :nono: (now priming at 1.35V). I may POST at 201 using 1.55-1.6V, but only to POST. the AGP is locked in my case, when I boot at 175 or 170, I can change it independently with setFSB or clockgen and it does not change when I change FSB.

ok, tryed better

with 1,55v from bios i can close 1M pi until 2765mhz, still on boxed cooler!

now i try to get a good pi score like 25s mounting the ddr boster...

ah, BTW, ambient temperature here is 33°...this little bastard 740 is awsome!

if you have 1022.003 you will boot with the 6x multi...like this you can boot at 201mhz and than you can change the multi in windows with EIST or other programs...
