Well I believe mine just bit the dust as well. Suddenly yesterday it shut off and now it wont start. Get the 8.E. error (check CPU fan). I tried several different 3 and 4 wire fans to no avail, along with all othe the suggested methods to reset the bios to default settings.
I did order the $6 replacent bios chip to see if that will do the trick, but if not, I'll be RMA'ing it. Too bad too as it has been working flawlessly for quite some time.
Mines been giving me trouble the last few weeks. The damn motherboard will not remember the BIOS settings. I already tried 2 new mb batters CR2032s they seem to help for a short period of time. Plus my ram slots 1/3 dont work anymore, i have to use 2/4 now, kinda sucks.
That is too bad. The replacement BIOS chip is only $6 and suprisingly they already shipped mine out.
Ive been retesting the memory for some time and keep getting various erros in windows XP. I ram memtest86+ last night for 9 hrs with no errors on the sticks, but for some reason I am getting errors occasionally in windows and testing in windows with MemTest.
A couple of games crashed on me yesterday, Rise of Legends and FarCry. I have never had a game crash for well over 9 months.
Still troubleshooting...
You guys really want to run the 1.4beta bios. In addition to fixing the SCP issues with X-Fi, it also fixes every issue I've ever had with my rig other than not being able to run very high FSB with my quad, but it does allow me to run higher fsb than 1.2 bios. Really sweet bios.
Ill have to give it a try. I finally got my system stable, had to drop the fsb to 445x9 for stability in the different memory slots.Quote:

With bios 1.2, 1333 was my highest stable fsb. With bios 1.3 (crappy bios, stay away!), 1280 was the highest fsb for me. With this 1.4 beta, and I'm still plating around with it, 1340 is stable, and I may be able to go a little higher. I can actually get into Windows at 1380 but not last too long.

Hi i just got my brand new in9 32 mx but didnt upgrade my ram which is DDR PC2-4300.
Is it ok to install these ram on my in9 32 mx ?
PS: I only have a 300w PSU is this ok for the board ?
You cannot place DDR1 memory inside a DDR2 motherboard, as they have a different number of pins.

yeah i figured out that the ram is ok to install, the PSU isnt because it does not have the 8pin CPU power connector.
So im now waiting for the postman to bring me a Corsair HX520 Modular PSU.

well i had problems and still am having them so ive had to go back to my old system. this what i done , took out my old msi motherboard and put my abit motherboard in. turned on and it says press TAB for post screen or press DEL for setup , ok. i go to set up and do save and exit. windows xp starts to load, loading bar shows but then sudden blue screen flash ( can read what it says goes to fast) and back to BIOS ????????
would the wrong ram cause this ? or because im trying to load my old windows thats on my hard drive ?

Your gonna have to reinstall windows or do a repair install. You can't just swap boards and boot especially with different chipsets.
o thanks man i feel so nooby now lol im gonna have a big headake because i havent got a windows disc ! dam i wish i knew this stuff lol ive just spent £250 on my new gear and cant even get it up and going:( .
so i need to do a frest install with a windows disc ? how do i do that with the bios on my abit board ? boot cd-rom ? sorry i havent done this befor lol

This is not mine so I cannot take credit but Andy-S in the Hardware and Drive Support forum passed this one on to me - a must know tweak.
Before you swap out the current motherboard go to device manager and select the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller and select your current storage controller. Right click, select update driver and select install from a list or specific location. Click don't search I will choose the driver to install and select the standard dual channel IDE controller.
This will prevent the inaccessable boot device blue screen. I have done this multiple times on different platforms with no problems.
Also I found that booting the first time with the new motherboard is best done in the Safe mode where XP will install the drivers it needs and at the same time you can install the new motherboard drivers from its CD.
This saved me doing a repair or a reinstall of XP. My whole system came right up and worked great and very stable.

I'm hoping for some good results this week. My IN9 comes back from Abit, and while it was gone I got the following:
2 Thermalright HR-05's to cool the north and south bridge
1 Thermalright HR-09 to cool the Mofset chipsets
2 Sticks of Ballistix Tracer 8500 Memory (I currently have 2 of the 8000)
I haven't updated my CPU from the one listed in my Sig, but I'm hoping with better cooling options and a redesigned Antec 900 based on ideas from the great thread in this forum, I'll get some good efficient overclocking done with this bad boy.

When You Get Your System Going Could You Please Post Your Pwm Temps. I'm Interested In The Hr-09 And Am Interested In Your Results.
They are unusually high right now, but I think my MOBO is warped a bit with my big (Thermalright HR-120) CPU Heatsink. I had originally just appled the HR-09 with Ceramique, but I think I will either use the thermal pad provided by thermalright or use the goo that came on the OEM heatsink.
I did have to put a non-conductive pad on the 'pulse' chip next to the PWM's as I was uncomfortable with how close the HR-09 comes to the metal contacts.
I'll post an update next week as I'm waiting on a knockout punch so I can modify my case and clean up the cables. I'll be pulling everything out at that point and re-applying the HR-09 along with applying temp sensors on the North and Southbridge to see how well the HR-05's do at cooling.
I've been doing some major modifications to my Antec 900 case this week to get everything into a final configuration. I'm hoping to fire up the beast tonight after I extend few more cables.Quote:

I've been very impressed with the quality of the Thermalright products. My Mobo now has a complete Thermalright solution using their HR-05's on the North and SouthBridge, the original 120 on my CPU, and the HR-09 on the PWM's.
I won't be able to give you a good answer because it looks like one of my PWM temp sensors is messed up.
The pad for the HR-09 covers all of teh PWM's, however PWM5 always idles way over the others (PWM1-4 70C PWM5 - 80C)
I've Overclocked my 2.4Ghz Xeon 3060 to about 3.1Ghz and my temps with no load are Mid 50's on PWM's 1-4 and Mid to upper 60's on PWM 5. The odd thing is when I put a load on it they all even out, so I think the temp sensor on the 5th PWM is bad...
Plus now my board chirps like crazy when I run Orthos on my CPU. Stable, but the chirping is crazy.
From reading around it looks like it is a symptom of these digital PWM's.....

anyone know why uguru reports my cpu volts way ABOVE bios . i set bios vcore to 1.1v ugru says im @1.28v so like wtf ! ifi set bios to 1.25v thenguru says im giving it a wopping 1.4v (way mor than iw ant to give my 45n) as for cpuz dont even go there ...1.44v !!!
aslo whats the vtt for the cpu do as i dint have that on my p965 so have no idea what it does .
what BIOS version?
VTT should be CPU termination voltage - increasing it may help you hit a higher fsb.
