I wish I had one to find out. Even a 10X multi would be sweet.

thanks! tried these voltages and no stability.Quote:

I can't even get 10x to work right... it just doesn't seem to want to move off of 11.Quote:

Double post
This is a bit of a nightmare. Yesterday I went out with the intention of buying a 6600 and a p5b deluxe. Just as I was about to pay for the 6600, I mentioned the xeon 3060, and was told one was arriving tomorrow. So I've put a deposit down and opted for that instead. I was then well chuffed to find a shop selling the aw9d here in Thailand, and bought it instead of the p5b.
Reading this thread, I'm hesitant to even take it out the box now. Thinking maybe best bet is to try it unmodded, and if it's not up to much, then sell it and go for the p5b.
Shame it certainly looks a nice bit of kit.

coop, just seen your message. You mest of sent that a while back.
I can blend prime @ 3.8-3.9ghz with my AW9D/Xeon 3060, just replace the craptastic stock heatpipe chipset cooler.Quote:

I think the P5B Deluxe is a good board but it was the first one i had and i hated it and it was gone within 2 days. My point being that everybody does nothing but praise that board while it seems some people have a dislike of this one. There is no given in overclocking so its really all about cracking the box open and giving it a try.

I decided to take hipros advice and give dual instances of sp2004 a try. I have to admit this isnt a true comparison to orthos considering im using the new bios that was updated. I have since gone from about 2hours small ffts stable to over 8hours. I also decided to loosen up my ram timings considering how aggresive they were during my last run.
I think its been shown by myself and others the AW9D-Max issues arent across the board. Some of us are doing well while others arent.
Im going to run blend next just for the hell of it.
.................
good job on getting 2 hrs stable.Quote:

but good luck anyway! :)
Im actually 8 hours stable. What i said in the post is i went from 2 hours to 8 hours and i actually stopped it myself.Quote:

Im at about 2 hours going strong. Im going to try and match the small fft 8hr run. I'll post a pic if i get that far. The last time i ran blend it crapped out at 4hrs 45min.Quote:

423 Fsb 4hr Orthos Blend Test
But as i said before i believe it failed because of my overly aggresive ram timings.

8 hour orthos blend test@423x9. No mods to the board other than a thermaltake extreme spirit 2 nb cooler and a 92mm fan over the nb area.
Nice MrDeeds, Single stage on CPU?
im workin on super pi 32mb stable @ 460 now..
Wow!
great job mrdeeds!
you probably have one of the best aw9d-max boards i've seen!
i really wish i had another pair of memory to test to see if the problem is memory related and not mobo related.... hmm...
easy to check, change the multiplier / let the ram run at lower speed?Quote:

Thanks ahead for any advice.

I went with two Coolermasters. This one on the northbridge, & this one on the southbridge. I read this review for performance comparison and chose these for the blue effect to match the boards leds. Cools much better than the heatpipe thing. Oh and I have a Microcool ChipSink Cooling Kit on the mosfets.Quote:

the board runs fine at 10 x 375 (orthos blend no errors).Quote:

i also tried 8 x 400 orthos blend and the interesting thing is is that it'll run at this speed for 10+ minutes.
now the question is... what is lmiting me, the chip, the ram, or the board?
i'm 99% sure it's not the chip.
so that leaves the ram and board.
i have a feeling it might be the ram but it could also be the board.
i have another board coming so i'll test the memory on that.
if it still has issues, then i'll know it's the mem and not the board.
I thought cause of the bios.I ran 400*8/400 4-4-4-12@2.1v then tried 2.2v,I won't go 2.3v because with 2.3v on P5WDH I can do 400/1000 4-4-4-12 with my Geil ram,but the final result that I still got blend test error after 5 hours and memtest error after 9xxx% testing (something hold my ram and made it error).I am sure it isn't my ram cause with P5WDH same setting I did successfully both test for ~30 hours.
Nemesis, thanks man:)
Im sure a new bios would solve the problem, its just if we ever get one or not.
