yep, tried with 1305 and 1403.. mightve been 1402 but pretty sure it was 1403.
i will give it a whirl!Quote:

Has Asus fixed the shutdown bug for the p5w dh dx yet? You know when you save the bios and it shuts the power down for a moment before it begins to boot.
I read the P5b and the Pro version of the P5W has this issue corrected.
TIA

Hey everyone,
Have been learning a lot about how I should and should not overclock my mother board with my system from this thread. I have an e6600 conroe, an eVGA nvidia 7950 GX2, Corsair XMS2 2G (1G x 2) DDR2, of course the Asus Motherboard running with 1407 bios version, and a BFG 650W Power Supply. Using AiBooster and using the Overclocking Profile I can get the machine up to 3.1MHz, but it seems like that doing that doesn't optmize the memory. I went in and have adjusted the memory to be 4-4-4-12-4, but that didn't seem like it helped very much (my main test I did was 3dMark06 which I got an awful score with the CPU testing; only 1 fps). I was wondering if there is something else that I can use to test the speed of the processer and actually notice a difference other than looking at numbers on these different software apps that monitor your box stats. Also, will changing these voltages affect the performance of my graphics card, or does that pretty much run as is?
The Overclocking Profile thing seems to make everything run smoothly with low temps and all, but when I load up the post messages it says my memory is at PC2-3200. With the Corsair memory that I have, is this a standard level or is it possible to raise it up higher without crashing the system? These are just a few started questions as I'm sure I'll be trying to get this to overclock with the correct settings for a while unless someone else out there as the same setup or similar and can give some hints to try. Sorry for the long message and thanks for taking the time to read.
Peace,
Dave
I've just experienced another quirk with this board. If I keep my mouse receiver (Logitech wireless) connected to the standard 6-pin mouse (PS2?) port, it becomes unusable when the system is reading off my internal CD/DVD drive. The mouse cursor will respond, but in extremely slow mo & stuttered fashion.
If I connect the mouse via USB, problem disappears. WTF?
nope :)Quote:

I don't have a 965 board, but I am thinking like you of getting one-P5B DX But I doubt the chipset drivers are the same. So a Windows reinstall would be needed for both of us since I have an Abit Aw9D max a 975 chipset board.Quote:

On another note, has anyone got the first ethernet port to work with just LAN to a dsl modem? For some reason it never work for me and I have seen the same results on two different boards. Only the 2nd ethernet will recognize my dsl and successfully get an ip. I'm a bit curious and thought maybe it is just me..
The shutdown is needed to be able to set the NB-strap correctly before bootiing again. So it's not a bug.Quote:

Note if I choose any other ram setting within the 900-1000 mhz setting the bios will post it properly as 8500. Anyother setting it will post anywhere between a pc- 5400 to pc- 7100 ram <--- what the hell is that 7100? FSB does not seem to be the issue to over clock the processor. The strange thing is when the ram is set within the 900-1000 mhz range the CPU-Z program will show the ram running at 533 mhz and as pc 8500 module and the bios will show in the post as 8500. Therefore I think this may be a bios issue. Same problem with the 1305 bios and the bios this board shipped with.Quote:

Also take it off the SPD settings and put in the proper timings as mine was defaulting to 5-4-4-12. Proper setting for this ram should be 5-5-5-15 runinng at 1066mhz.
and dont forget to disable the hyper 3 thing in the bios
Good luck.
At least now I can overclock this sucker

well, I don`t understand why it wouldn`t work. Windows booted flawless when I uninstalled the nforce 4 drivers and installed the bastard without reinstalling windows xp prof sp2. I think if you uninstall the drivers of the p965 chipset you installed and install a i975x motherboard, windows will boot and work :)Quote:

Enough of the bitterness, I know that I will find a good board in the near future and that my memory still is a good investment for the future.
Anyone got any other recommendations on similar setups. I sure would be interested in some bios-setting-specifications for my exact setup, such as the one Strikez posted.
@ Strikez and breitan
The reason CPUZ shows your ram running at 533mhz is because it is DDR-2 533 x 2 = 1066
Now if you're having problem getting stable with 1000+ then you might need to increase your vmch to 1.65v or more if you have the newer board and vdimm somewhere 2.3-2.4v
Well.. not really.. it's not the ddr- TWO which is importantQuote:

Has anyone purchased this board recently? I just bought one for $228.99 the info on it is:
Serial #: 69MOAG13XXXX
Part #: 90-MBB2X1-GOAAY
Just wondering if anyone has any clocking results with september boards.
I have no complaint about the P5W DH board. It is the best motherboard (most stable) I have ever had. I built my first computer using an Asus motherboard in 1990. I later switched to MSI boards. The previous system I built was a DFI LP Ultra-D. It is a POS. I will never buy a DFI board.
I have to agree with you but I read in another post this board doesnt officially support pc8500 corsair so I have to take my lumps as I had over looked this. I still am hoping ASUS can fix this problem with a BIos fix.Quote:

would post CPU-Z pics but dont know how.

I ll give that a shot but cranking up the volts on my ram to 2.4 volts ok? Thats one setting I been shying away from but I m game. Thanks for the response. If this works Ill report back in a few days. Had time to do this now.Quote:

Hi guys.
I have this motherboad, 6600 dual 2 core, 7900gt and this power supply, OCZ X gamer 700w PSU.
The first time when I was building my computer it didn't boot and was crazy find what the hell was wrong. One friend has a Enermax 535W power supply and I tried with it......... my computer booted. Ok, I thought my OCZ is not working, I will return it to NewEgg for a new one.
Today I have it with me and nothing, is not working :(
Any idea before send it back again ???
thanks in advanced.
So the board is not working with a new OCZ or not working with the Enermax, that it did boot with?
I am a little unsure.
And you did remember to plug in the 4 pin power connector?

sorry. I will explain again
With a Enermax it works, not problems. But now with my new OCZ it doesn't boot, or any fan moving, nothing. Yes, everything is connected, 24V, 12V, the connector for my graphics card, etc.
I have a tester for power supplies and I did a bridge betweend green color and black color and the power supply is working.
I don't understand why is not working.
Is any difference between the connectors CPU1 and CPU2 I mean, different voltage ???
