Thats an average overclock, not to be rude, but basically its nothing special.
However at that speed that processor if plenty powerful.
My 165 hits 2.7 at 1.45 stable, after that the first core doesnt want to go any farther. The chips that hit 2.9 with 1.4-1.5 are not so easy to get.
with water though u might be able to squeeze 50-100mhz more from it as long as its a decent setup.
I found someone who will buy my chip, 0543 TPMW.
Has anyone purchased a chip from MWAVE recently or recieved a 0530 recently?
I'd really like to sell this chip and buy a 0530.

Been playing with this for a few days now, all on stock right now as I'm waiting for my BGAsinks to get here, can't wait to get this under water though...mosfets were getting a little bit too hot so that's about the max for now
id like to know anyone have a opteron 165 stepping 0547?? if so how far is it overclockin and with what volts?? mines up to 2.6 stable but i have a forton 530 psu with only 18 amps on the 12 volt i suspect its limiting my overclock new psu will be here by friday...:banana:

Im thinking of getting a 170 and an Asus A8N SLI Premium, what is the highest OC I can pull on it at stock voltage? Im also not sure about timmings on AMD systems, since Ive always used Intel. Looking for some help with the switch to AMDs opty

- As you can see the 2GB OCZ PC4000EB keeps up nicely with looser timings somewhat and old winbond BH-5 still rocks :)
- You can see the effects on idle temps of direct 1HP Portable air con air in the latter result :cool:
Eva - what is your highest stable clock now? Hvae you been burning it in?
there are no guarantees with any stepping, but some do better than others. There are some 165's that outperform 170's, and some 170's that outperform 175's, etc... it all depends on the stepping, your config, and a certain amount of luck!Quote:

With 165's and 170's, you are almost guaranteed to hit 2.3ghz stable on both cores, and most will even do 2.5 or better. That will all depend on your other equipment and your skill at OCing.
Just remember, there are no guarantees and there is risk involved, so you really really need to do your research before you jump into overclocking AMD's.

Friend of mine purchased an OEM 170 from Monarch last Wednesday evening at my suggestion. He's not really an overclocker.
He came by to have me help him assemble. I forgot all about checking the proc but when I opened that plastic holder and saw "CCBWE 0530TPMW" :eek:
No testing yet. He said he'd swap it with my 0546 if I wanted to since he probably won't OC much if any. Of course I'm going to push it first.
