Stocky,
Check the socket on the MB to make sure it is clean
Check the pins on the CT-479 to make sure it is straight
Check the socket on the CT-479 to make sure it is clean
Check the CT-479 to make sure there are no blown chips or burnt / scorch marks
Check the pins on the CPU to make sure it is straight
I think there is a short between your cpu -> adapter -> MB cuz it would power down so fast. Or a blown adapter.
When my CT-479 blew a chip, my cpu fan still spun but got a blank screen and the MB was telling me there was a cpu error (P4C800ED with voice warnings turned on).
This happened to me twice last night - I was testing some other 770s and tried to boot after installing one. Got the fans on for a sec then nothing......I had not tightened the little screw that locks the CPU into the adapter socket. You must make sure this goes all the way round to the locked position.
2nd time I had 7 volted a 120mm fan, it didn't like that either, must be the type of fan (LED) causing problem as I have 7 volted many fans before. Anyway put it back to 12v and it booted fine.
HTH

if i remeber a dead cpu is the same as not having the power lead connected to the ct-479 fans spin but no post.
i had a problem like yours the fans would spin for a sec and then top but that was a faulty crystal orb fan on a vga card but if it works ok with a p4 and nothing else changed it wont be anything like that.
have you tried just the vga card , ram and cpu in case it's some thing else connected that does not like working with the ct-479.
also do you have a speaker connected does it beep in any way.

You can do it the way you like. With the latest bios you get vcore upto 1.6 multipliers and fsb... Its just like old-school northwood overclocking - with the multis :toast:Quote:

50 millihertz ain't worth the trouble http://www.cons.org/smileys/wink.gif.Quote:

I experienced the same with my 730. Blank screen. No signal at all. I think the cpu is dead. :( I removed the heatsink and turned the PC on. The cpu doesn't even get warm. The system runs just fine with a P4. I tried a new CT479 but nothing changed. I'm waiting for a new 740. :brick:Quote:

well if your cpu isn't getting warm it could either be the cpu or the adapter. the adapter is cheaper so replace that 1st.
sorry for the noob question but would i be right in thinking you can't set the fsb that high in the bios and have to overclock to 270 in windows using clockgen or something? :p:Quote:

True, but it's really heavy on the board!Quote:

It's not "full PAT".......It's some kind of "phseudo PAT".........You loose a LOT by booting at 201MHz.......Almost 1sec in Super-Pi....... ;)
ALSO Rams at 270MHz by booting at 201MHz, do worse than 240MHz by booting at 200MHz......

There seems to be a lot of different PAT levels... CTIAW reports full PAT when booting at 201, but as you say, you gain even more when booting at 200.Quote:

how do you raise your vdimm, by vdimm mod or booster. I have problems with ram, did anybody experiance some kind of trouble with vdimm, cause that is right now the only thing i can think of, that could be the problem.
change mobo maybe is something worng with motherboard
Hi if sTryg can update information about P4P800 VM because i'm using it @ 200 fsb 24h/7 without any crash... with a 750 @ 2606 stock vcore
