I had no issues OCing on that bios with 1100t
Wil FM1 boards bios'es will be posted here?
Well?
I think this forum has died since the Formula V came out.
@Tonyb : Can you post a link to your bios: 2002 please?
@Asus: How about some 890fx love? - specially a new bios with updated Raid option rom :)
The 2002 BIOS is a custom BIOS that ASUS did to fix a graphics error in Win 7, it is based on the 1902 BIOS. If you want to try it email me at tonyb56@o2.co.uk and I'll send it to you.
anyone have new bios (203) for K43TA notebook ?
new bios to fix background color same 24 bit.
I guess that means, that bingo won't post anything for any board here anymore, not just for those with 790fx chipset (and the never kept promise about voltage stability fixes)
Seth and Skull I've emailed the BIOS let me know if you get it OK or not.
First of all, I only said that I guess that there won't be more support for the 890FX boards then there is for the 790FX boards.
Secondly, at least he could have said something like "Sorry, but we couldn't manage to get the things to work that we promised to fix" or at least make a short post like "Sorry there won't be any updates for a while".
I know about his daughter, but if he was and is here on the forum, and has enough time to post in several other threads, why he can't just give a short statement in this thread?
Yes, it isn't his job to post here, but he started this thread and he made some promises.
The 890FX boards will still get support, the 790FX probably won't. ASUS is still actively working on the 890FX boards to give them support with Bulldozer, however the 790FX boards are a full two gens behind now, and anyone using one probably should have upgraded by now, stuck it with a quad for their wife or child, or shouldn't be trying to overclock a thuban to hell on one; anything crazy like that.
I emailed him yesterday, and got an answer. To be honest, I think he'd be on the forum if he had the time to be on the forum.
This might be true now, but it wasn't back then when bingo first talked about upcoming changes that will be there "very soon".
At least he could have said then "Sorry, we just keep waiting until the current generation is outdated to get a reason why we don't support it anymore" instead of "there will be something very soon"
I guess the real problem is, that he isn't and was never really involved in the ASUS "bios" R&D, so he has no real influence on which platforms they will support and which not. They might told him at some point that there will be a fix for the voltage stability issues on the 790FX boards, but changed their plans in order to focus their support on the 890FX platform back then.
I don't care about that promised fix anymore (or about any ASUS product to be honest).
I just don't get why he didn't simply state that there won't be anything and why it won't be there instead of making a promise and ignoring any requests regarding that promise for over a year after it.
He did not even say something like "No there won't be any further 790FX support".
edit: another reason could be that they always knew that it was more or less impossible to fix that voltage instability issue bios wise. Before bingo said that they are working on that issue, I already had the feeling that there isn't much they could do about that "design issue" that caused that problems. Maybe the reason why he said that they are working on it was, cause they stil wanted to sell boards with that issue back then and knew that it won't be a good idea to state, that the issue can't be solved or that they won't work on it. How could they say "sorry, but our expensive high end board you just bought has some design issues that we won't be able to solve"? So all they could do was to wait, play some kind of "time game" until that faulty mainboard generation was old enough to stop any support for it.
It's a pointless slagging off a guy who probably has no influence over ASUS policy on BIOS support, in the past he has helped a lot of people in spite of serious personal problems when most guys would probably have said sod it and left us to it. It stands to reason that ASUS (along with the other companies) will be concentrating on the 990FX boards especially the Formula V (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1616542&page=5, http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1612748&page=4) which seems to have a few teething problems but that doesn't necessarily mean they have abandoned the 890FX and 790FX boards time will tell. I personally have a 1090T running fault free in an M4A79T Deluxe board and my Formula IV systems are working great as well.
And this is what I was waiting for, options in the bios to do so (on the M4A79 Deluxe for example). Back then bingo said that there will be such options very soon for that board (even it won't be as good as they are for the 890FX boards). But this was over a year ago...
its not beta any more. but 2301 is now listed. just loaded it anyone else? all it says is improved system compatibility.
2301? where from Skull and which board?
