I think I read about a hot stanley knife tip?!?!
Yep, i cutted the PCE x8 slot, and it work perfectly. :D
considering that its dave's first pair he had..
i think she's the oldest on this forum...
She even outdates this post thread even.
Dont get me wrong.. she still runs fine... i just need more power.
Lack of 64 bit, and more expansion slots is whats the main limiting factor on sammy.
My plans are to probably donate sammy or migrate her down to someone.
Lind will take all of sammy's drives.. 6 + another Nas i had 5.
I plan on finally using my ARC-1680ix controller which has been sitting for about a year gathering dust.
(learned you dont mess with OVERCLOCK while on a SAS controller, or face drive spin load up time for each BSOD's).
So Lind a 3.070 dual gainestown system will be born on top of sammy's ashes to replace her perminently.
If i need something more then 16 threads.. i think i'll shoot myself.. im having a hard enough time filling up 12 on Nadeshiko besides Boinc..
Oh wait.. ignore that last line.. u guys arent suposed to know that.. :wasntme:
^and i've always wanted a sammy :D
I hear ya. That was the bane of my existence when overclocking my last rig. After the first night the "Booting the controller kernel... / | \ - / | \ - / | \ - /" message was permanently burned into my mind.
Second night I just took the damn thing out of the slot and cut power to the drives and used a simple sata drive with a clean installed OS... it's the only way to go.
how much do the HSs weigh? (preferably in grams please!)
both heatsinks? i say about 400 grams?
Hmmmm....
Not sure whats going on here. Well I got my Sossaman and I've installed it all but no boot/post anything.
I have a 450W Corsair PSU with an 8 pin eps connection. DDR2-400 and 2x2GHz Sossas.
I plug in the power and there are lights on the board after the staus lights go blue then green and the 2 CPU lights stay orange. The light near the EPS plug is also green. any ideas? What have I missed?
I'm following the layout from page 123 of the manual to connect a normal start switch. But no go?
Yes siree bob.
I'm confused cos the fans dont even spin.
Not yet I cant even get it to post to the bios. Basically the motherboard doesnt boot-up yet.
I'm assuming you need the motherboard running to flash the latest bios.
It should still boot with the older bios and those CPUs, just throw weird bios errors. That's how mine behaved.
What do the POST LEDs show? They're the ones between the ethernet and video/com ports (per page 5 of the manual).
Did u ever finish your mod?
