The big light show when that new number is posted!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been pretty consistent over the last 3 days
17,822,396
im gonna win.
edit: fuuuuuuu
edit#2: great job team!
We seem to have hit a road block, we still have another day in the challenge
We want 20m!! We want 20m!! We want 20m!!
Hey there dpg, looks we are in for a race to the finish :)
Let the best machines win!!
I'm curious as to how come your stats are so even day to day compared to mine? How many pages of pending WU's do you usually have
(I end up with 6 or 7 pages)?
Looks our main two rigs are the same :) Dang we have good taste ;)
Cheers my fellow cruncher !!!!
John
i usually have arround 5-7 pages pending validation, rigs are pretty stable (had some bluescreens but i knew they would come since im running my ram on the edge of the 920 cpus controller :/ got a new 920 yesterday but thought it would take more points due to downtime for the cpuswitch than it would ad due to the added mhz)
about the hardware taste :) we all found our way to XS after all id say  (btw prior to switching to the mushkin 2000mhz 9-10-9-24 kit i used the same trident as you do :) )
and CONGRATS to everyone, i guess we made our goal of 100mill for the week one day early :yepp:
No, the goal was 100 million PER day for the week!
Hey, those that came went like gangbusters and God love 'em!
We needed another couple thousand to show up but that didn't happen.
We'll try this again isn say November and see if that helps with the turnout..
Or maybe I'll just call everyone on XS personally..That would do it!
They'd come just to get me off the phone!
Yes I do think the cooler weather in November would help. Although, at least here in Ohio, it hasn't been too bad this week. Had a couple warmer days but my rigs are in the basement, it takes a while for the heat outside to affect down there. I'm not running near as much as I used to either... So actually, November would be good because maybe by then I'll be rebuilding the farm in new, exciting ways :D
Yeah, I wouldn't call it quits to this just yet. I'm gonna keep crunching.
I'm going to keep crunching. I like this.
we had our best BIONIC day, by a small margin.
Another great effort. Just need to push a little harder to get to 20 million.
Good show, team! But we need to move on and break the 17.8 Mil bottleneck!
So...
We going to do 20million today or are we going to spend the next 6 months saying "We coulda,shoulda,woulda..":D
These are the team numbers so far since May 1.
Points: 117,401,371
Daily Average: 16,771,624
Results Returned: 243,050
Need just a few more here to make up for all the "pending validation" wu's that will come through after the deadline.
Of course everyone here already is cordially invited to stay and keep up the good work
Barring pendings I am off on a new mission.
Will stop by again when I can :)
I'm sure a lot of the big new crunchers will stick around. Dave is like the ebola monkey spreading the crunch bug. The only thing I think we have to worry about is team throttling due to the temps. Why can't we get a massive cold front move through like in the day after tomorrow :)
I'm definitely sticking around, I didn't upgrade my 3 year old's pc to an i7 920 @ 4.2 for 1 weeks worth of work  Not to mention I am very much looking forward to building a killer SR-2 rig
The statistics update will finish in about 5 minutes 26 seconds.
And the Final day's Numbers are ................................
17,096,566
I'll stick around with 8-10 dedicated cores but its been a long week with out gaming on my main rig imo
Xtremesystems 17,096,566
Not too bad at all for a Saturday...who knows we may still even break 20 mil even though the comp is over.
I'm stick'n around for sure. After the MovieMan e-mail, I put together 3 machines from parts that were gathering dust in the storage shed. Today these modest pieces of hardware just passed 100k points! I'll probably earn a couple of badges in the next day or so. The whole experience has been satisfying on so many levels...:yepp:  :D
Well I'm sure as hell infected. Is there somewhere I can get vaccinated? The most surprising symptom so far is that I've (almost) forgotten all about the LC system I spec'd out - which was how I discovered XS in the first place. I now find myself thinking I'd rather spend the $500 building a dedicated cruncher. Even the missus is on board with the WCG thing...it's entirely possible she may not gripe about my tech expenditures as much anymore! That side effect alone is worth getting ebola (XS mutation).
Thanks to the leadership here at XS for turning me on to the crunching thing.
Great day guys, we didn't get 20K but we got close! :D
Thanks to everybody for helping out!
Now if only Dave can do his magic and get us a group buy on the SR-2, hex cores annd RAM
I'm also very interested but that is one -ell of a lot of $$ for a home machine, but if a deal could be had, well....
The other thing I was thinking is that we are crunching for charity. So can anyone think of a way we could start a registered charity group. That way we could deduct our expense's off our income taxes! Here is Canada once you've donated $500 towards charities we get a 36% tax deduction :) Now that would make that rig quite affordable.

John
We should definitely have another competition... more notice next time... I'll be better prepared at least.
This time around we destroyed Easynews and upped our numbers quite a bit. The next time, the target will certainly be 2Ch - not just beat, but destroyed...
And MM, put me down on the SR2 list as well ;)
It's been a great week. Cheers to everyone on the team. :toast:
OUCH..that dang monkey bit me:ROTF:
yea I'm commited to this ward now:up:
This week was a blast. 100M ppd, 100 ppd, it doesn't matter to me. We did an ungodly amount of research and got to meet some cool cats who share our passion for diving into the abyss. A sincere heart-felt thanks goes out to all who lended their resources for the week and I can only hope some of you stick around, if even in a lesser capacity, as our work is never truly done. Carry on, men! Carry on!
It was a great week, fun to see what XS could do... we put up some huge numbers nearly matching a team (in ppd) with 10x more members! And I know even though the challenge week is done we will be retaining a lot of new members to the team :D
15,053,937
nice indeed.it would be such an overwhelming success if it leveled out at around 14.000.000
after all the new people who joined that decided to stay kept it at that number.fingers crossed
we are still carrying momentum!
I'll be sticking around as well.I seem to have caught the crunching bug thank's to that e-mail! I went and put together another i7 920 on water(seeing as I had an extra pump and stuff.)Sio now I can also get back to some gaming on my main rig!:D
 Yuppers and we will..The question is how much..
News at 11..
Glad to hear your staying!
Now I have to mention the WCG rule on gaming;
It's rule #1729571 subsection A,paragraph C:
And I quote:
"In so far as we do recognise the need of our members to occasionally blow off steam by Gaming, we have set aside the fifth Friday of each February during the hours of 3am-5am for said usage."
I mean we do want to be fair to the gamers!
Doesn't sound like enough to me!!
Wow, although a better number than when we began I did not expect such a large drop, but all and all still a good day
I will be continuing on with my 3 rigs until I can get my hands on an SR-2 and a couple hex's, then I'll have 4 :)
I'm very proud of this team. 44% returned results today which is very good. Glad you're all sticking with it.
I game while crunching. Guild Wars does hit the 965 hard enough to slow it down.
yeah and s4 league dosent also hit the 25% cpu usage limit i have set but sadly after effects does and i have some movie editing and some special effects for that movie to make. sorry guys.
Yeah, what Dave said.
That .25 is purely optional.
My computer is such a badass, i crunch, fold and play test drive unlimited at the same time.
Unless you've set CPU affinity for either crunching or folding, one is going to block the other from doing much of anything. (that's assuming you're using CPU clients for both)
I don't think I've used my desktop in the past 3 weeks  Even when I got my 980x it was straight to folding till it died (never benchmark or gamed on it) Bought a GTX480 for gpugrid and haven't used it to play one game yet :ROTF: I wonder if I can just directly buy points from WCG :p:
no CPU is set to WCG and GPU is folding
You might not be but I am. I was going to work earlier well yesterday and thought: BLOODY HELL!!!!. I forgot to put back on WCGafter i had done some stuff with after effects!!!!! so i run back to my room and check it out and saw that it was still on. Loled my arse off and then went to work.
nice job this week guys, i never thought we would have even broken 12M, so to see almost 18M was a shocker for me.
also, for what it's worth, i believe the sc2 guys will be hanging around. i never said anything about a week long stipulation :p:
Xtremesystems 15,035,544
Glad to see were keeping it up
15 mil is still very strong, gj!!
Good job, everyone.
Maybe us new guys can keep it in this range. I'm only doing less than 5k/day...
This is a good team! Cheers!
Xtremesystems 13,829,075
I didn't even think WCG was up today I had problems connecting.
Quote:
We will be updating our Linux systems to the latest fixes on May 11th, 2010 starting at 17:00 UTC. We expect this work to take about five hours. During this time we will periodically take down some parts of either the grid or the website.
Thank you for your patience during this routine work.
I wondered what was up, my numbers were down but only by 10k or so. But I still had 112,063 so it had to be up for a while.
Whether we make 6 million or twenty million we ALL are doing the needed work to defeat these horrible diseases. Everyone here contributes what they can and what each person does counts as much as the next person. XSwcg is all about being Xtreme with fewer but more dedicated people. Most of us overclock our computers to squeeze that last little work unit out by days end.
The owner of this site has set an example about the true meaning of Xtreme and we honor him when we compete with giants. We will overtake the other teams not because of size but because we have the heart needed for the task. I salute each and everyone of you for your dedication to this team, forum, and to the science to make that difference.
A bit of a slowdown ... but you're STILL gaining on easynews
Amost 14K today we're still on fire!
Another good day.
If we bottom out were we where it is still good that we as a team keep the push on. If we are not the #2 or #1 producer in the end if my Mom doesn't have to deal with cancer then who gives a F uck what place we are in, in the end.
Point's are fun to compare as the CPU's crunch the daym cancer and such but in the end I want a cure so I don't have to loose any more of my family to this crap!~!
I know we as a Team want to be successful but this is what we rly are in it for right? Not the points or the placement in the stat's but to find a real cure for this shi7?
I hope no one needs to hear that they will not live after ..... months any more.
That is what I am in this for,
Scott
Nicely put Merlin. Sorry for your loss.
My friend, Never take the talk of points and scoring seriously.
It is a way to try and add a little fun to the work we do as lets face it,watching a PC work is like watching grass grow.
Point's,competitions, are all tools we use to try and make it interesting but not what brings 98% of the people to this. That I'm sure of.;)
So tomorrow we make 12 mil and we are happy at that point right? We need to push this as a reason not a competition. I have no other means to help "us" but with my computer. We need to help our self's in this battle. O'Bama is not our savior and we all know it.
I will put all I have on the grid tomorrow and eff the power it takes. Any one with me??
The super computer was a good sell but let's get real and make this an Xtreme Team!!
Anyone that has a CPU and can put it on the Grid let's do it  XS Team or not we need to find a cure and this is the only way we as a geek group will find it. So Geek up and let's find a cure so your parents don't have to die like mine did! I don't want to die like my Dad did. It was a long and painful death from cancer. No one should have to die like that!
If you are not sitting in front of your PC and it is running what the eff do you have to loose ?? Help us Help U !! Let's Do This!!
I hear you and agree BUT the problemis financial.
People may have tossed a ton of machinery on for a week but can't handle that load long term.
I can't but I haven't shut anything off here yet.
I'd been doing app 110K per day on WCG prior to the Challenge week.
Maxxed at 283,500 but that figure included 3 machines not owned by meat others homes, one is already gone, the other 2 will stay 3-4weeks.
Then my house, I have 7 running now but can't sustain the elec cost for all of those.
We do what we can my friend and say thanks to whatever help we can get.
That's cold, but thats how it is.
Now I need sleep unlike you younger guys!:D
Night all..
