x2 3800+ is undoubtedly the best value for money. X2 4600+ could well be the best overclocker, but very few people have them as if they spend that much, they want the most cache they can get, so they go for the 4400+.
if you're looking to clock, i'd say x2 3800+ is the best bang for buck.
Get the X2 3800. They have the best price/performance ratio and they OC well.

I thought that the first 3800+s were BV and the later ones were CD, making Toledos the more recent 3800+s? Mine is week 26 and it's -BV.

Anybody here on Phase with a Manchester 3800 with a Neo2 Plat? I have been running my Winchester 3000+ for the last year @ 2.8ghz (MachII cooled) and I am in need of an upgrade so I just gave in to the "add to cart" disease. I am hoping for the same clocks but I am a little concerned about the current handling capacity of the power regulation circuitry on the Neo2 given the fact that the Manchester is a dualie and I will most likely need to pump upwards of 1.55v-1.6v to get any decent ~2.8-2.9ghz clock. I am not worried about temps but more about the FETs. Let me know your experiences.
They (3800+) all are Manchesters, but some (new ones), are E6 instead of E4.
My 3800+ is dated week 32 and is not an E6!...so not all new ones are E6!

I was told that if in cpu-z that if ur family is f and stepping is 2 then its a toledo core with 512 disabled making it a 3800 manny, correct me if I was misinformed here..
Either way I have a good clocker im at 2.5 with just 1.35v shell do 2.4 with just 1.3v

With stock volts I can get to 2,35ghz (Super_PI 8M stable) but for sth more I have to rise my VCORE a lot...for 2,6ghz prime stable I have to rise to 1,552V...but can`t get further than 2,6ghz...even 1mhz more!

Well, then I think it is an E4. My E6 can do 2.6~2.7Ghz @ 1.26v. :)

If by die size you mean in nm, no, they are both 90nm. However i guess toledo has a bigger die than manchester, thanks to the extra cache.

no no bigger die doesn't equal better OC. The size of the die doesn't have an effect.

I can see your suggesting something along the lines of "bigger core means better heat dissipitation" which makes sense, but it is minisculely bigger, and rarely do temps of 1-2c (all the effect that would have) make much difference.
Just wanted to post my experiences with my overclocking and to see if I could get some helpful info from other members on getting it higher. :) I have a week 31 X2 3800+ E4 in a Soltek SL-K8T-939FL currently priming @ 2.5 and 1.525V. Not sure if it'll be stable or not with those settings. At 1.5V Prime95 failed after 4½ hours so I'm trying it at this voltage now. I'm just mainly trying to get as high as I can and am not really worried about upping the volts. I'll look into lowering that after I get some stable settings. When I had stock cooling I could only get it to 2.3 @ stock volts, anything higher and Prime fails in less than 5 minutes. Now that I have it watercooled it lasted a bit longer (2.3 @ 1.35V), but still failed within 40 minutes. I don't think temps are really holding me back as far as I can tell. I'm not even sure if my mobo sensors are even accurate. When it reported 55°C the stock HSF only felt a bit warm. I'd say that once it hit 65°C+ it started to feel as hot as my P4 @ 45°C (Also had an aluminum HSF). Regardless, the sensor is reading 51°C right now, so actual temp will probably be lower if the sensors are indeed inaccurate.
I'm considering a more popular mobo if it's the Soltek that's limiting me from getting stable clocks, but we'll see.

With other CPUs they moved on to new revisions which act differently, e.g. Venices >= 0531 seem to do pretty bad.
I would recommend getting a Toledo 3800+ because from what I have seen it is very likely to get a good week.
well mines a manchester (BV), and im doing 2750mhz with 1.4v, which isn't too bad. There's no one better clocker than the other.

With stock HS/F I'm clean 24/7 at about 2600-2620ish, highest 1M bench at 2780mHz.
Will be on water next week, and would like 24/7 clocks of 2750mHz++, 2900mHz would be really nice, but I don't think I'll see it unless I go phase change or DI.
I mean dual-core is nice, but an Opty 939 would prob do 3100mHz on water, so the X2 doesn't look soooo great.
Mine is BV 0534 E4...
How much benefit from popping the IHS on an X2?
