Obviously they know nothing and just repeating the rumors of 1536 SPs and 30-50% performance increase over 6800 series according to what the PowerColor rep said they were expecting. Still even that would be about as fast as a GTX 580, and certainly faster than GTX 480/570.

:rolleyes: That is doubt given the track record of ATI, 4870>3870x2 5870>4870x2 so the 6970 should be >5970. That is what is most likely. Antilles aka the 6990 should be a lot faster. Considering AMD has been withholding the final bios for Cayman your little birdie has not seen final results yet.

I compared you to Charlie since he made the same prediction about the GTX 580, simple as that. I'm sure most people ready to purchase high end Video Card from AMD or NVIDIA hope you're also wrong as Charlie was.

About the 3D. The people responding to your opinion about 3D clearly talked about the 3D in generel it was ONLY you who changed it to Nvidia vs AMD argument, how more clear I can be about that, is that a personal attack?

Look at the other elements. The card is late, it has missed a direct confrontation with its competitor and might not make the Christmas season. In addition, rumors of part shortages in making the cards do not inspire confidence that there are going to be alot of these cards. Considering there is already a shortage of 6870,6850(a card that should be easy to make because of its small size), thus the cards being scalped 20 dollars. I have my doubts how much parts AMD can deliver, considering how much bigger cayman is, the short development time, has 2gb of ddr5 @ 1.5ghz(which nothing else on the market has) and this power components from TI. And their has been a couple people like the poster from India who says, the cards are not at India AMD headquarters. A paper launch could happen.

Paperlaunch does not have to be a troll-word, if their is a reasonable case for it. And even the word itself is not really that trolling. Something like AMD sucks or Nvidia is crap is trolling.

Everyone was saying NV was going to paper launch the gtx 580. Shall we call everyone Charlie then?

That's an absurd to call a person charlie just because they say paper launch.

Charlie has a particular brand of writing that makes him who he is. I share none of that vehemently hate to where I see joy in a company failing. This is what separates normal writers from Charlie, his obsessed hatred towards Nvidia.

A personal attack is more likely to get a negative response and your just asking for a flame war.

Many various and contradicting rumors swirling around out there, can't get any better info on NDA/launch.
Craziest one I have heard is that the Pro model will be on shelves by the 7th but NDA doesn't expire until the next week.

Lots of talk about a double launch of 3d products, glasses and monitors, as well as FutureMark 3dMark11 benchmark will coincide with Cayman release.

If the pro shows up for $349 and performs like it should, it may very well end up in my system IF I can get my hands on one in time for my buddies girlfriend's kids computer, and it manages to over-throw the GTX 570(winner of that battle gets a 1 way ticket into my PCI-E slot). They're paying me $150 to build the system, and are offering me a more-than-fair price for my GTX 460, which between the 2 my upgrade will be free. :up:

Although, maybe I'm wrong here, but that's quite the price gap between that and the 6870... Shouldn't there be something to fill that? I smell a 6930 coming soon afterwards.

As much as people paint me to be "biased", that's really not the case. I side with whoever gives me the best performance/IQ for the money I'm spending that particular day. I just see the flaws in a lot of the arguments that takes place, and there's more red paint than green paint here if ya know what I mean.

yep youre right from 250$ 6870 to 350$ 6950 is a huge gap indeed and the better the caymans perform the larger this gap may get im afraid. im actually hoping nvidia puts out a dual gpu as well so there is some competition on that segment too otherwise antilles will be the fastest but most inaccessible card ever created.

The way supply situation going on the red camp, i'm affraid these cards won't be cheap afterall, street price will be inflated in no time after launch, no matter how sensible AMD initial launch price ever was. :rolleyes:

None off the GTX 580 Newegg has listed are at $499.- MSRP, so everything is going to be just relative.

About the bart supply, Newegg has out of 14 HD 6850 listed 11 in stock,
there are 11 HD 6870 listed at Newegg and 6 are in stock, that's not exactly bad supply for a card which is right now on Newegg HOT seller list, AMD also has to supply many off the cards for the ready boxes.

Just to compare, there are 11 GTX 580 listed at Newegg and only 3 are in stock, considering GTX 580 is not exactly hot seller mainly because less people buy the top end cards and some off them are most likely waiting for the AMD HD 6900 cards just to compare the performance and value.

Anyway my conclusion is that bart as of today has much better supply than the GTX 580.

As for the GTX 6900 we can only hope there is not going to be any paper-launch as somebody in this thread predicted.

i said if it's compareable with barts = decent

if supply is as short as with the 5850 i expect the cards to be at least 20-30% over MSRP

I guess giving you the figures supported by links didn't help at all. With 20 barts card available at Newegg one can hardly call it bad supply, considering not always Newegg has all the cards listed in stock at the same time or comparing to the GTX 580 cards availability.

I believe the 20-30% over MSRP might be little exageration on your part, even more so if the competing cards are also going to be available.

The only way such mark up would hapen if the 6900 cards are priced lower than the GTX 500 cards and perform much better which i doubt will hapen and if it does it would be still good value when compared.

I believe the 5850 is just missprint since the card is EOL but there still plenty on sale at Newegg.

cf 6870 beats 9/10 always a 5870cf setup....

so if they put a dual bart XT on the antilels design, which is no issue power consumption wise they already have a faster card then 5970 :rolleyes:

off course it could be that they use a more reduced cayman for antilles but i doubt that if they can use smaller die...

if you find 1 type of 580 for each store in Europe you have lots of luck, that hard to find and even first week when people reporting newegg sales of 580 there were never in stock not even for pre order.
