DFI UT X58-T3EH8 continued - Part 2

Because as far as I remember, when I tried to isntal the INF utilitie in the Original DVD that comes with the board, at the beginning of the installation a window appears which said that it wasn't compatible, then was when I got noticed that W7 hasn't need drivers.
But then when I tried this new one inf utilkitie the installation ednde properly, what's more I remember I had to restart my computer.
But well maybe is like you said, I didnt install anything and thats because it doesnt appear on that section.

Sorry if this has been covered, but what is the difference between:

IOH/ICH 1.1V Voltage
IOH Analog Voltage
ICH 1.5 Voltage
ICH 1.05V Voltage

Which ones control the actual NB and SB? And I'm guessing the other are the PCI-E voltages for the IOH and ICH or something?

Trying push G.Skill F3-17066CL9T-6GBPS on i7 950, I ran into trouble at the very begining: CL7 @ 160x10 does not post at all.

basic bios setting:
core=x20
vcore=1.2v(bios), vdroop=enabled, special add=disabled
vtt=1.21v(bios), special add=auto
vdram=1.56v
PCIE=101

What I have tried: (core x20, uncore=ramx2)
9-9-9-24 @ 160x10 => 24hr prime stable
CL8 (auto for the rest) @ 160x10 => always post
CL6/7 @ 160/161x10 => not post
CL7 @ 159x10 => always post
CL7 @ 133-150x12 => always post
6-7-6-18 @ 133x12 => 24hr prime stable

So the problem is that though it posts at 159x10/x20, it does not post at 160x10/x20.
core=x18 => still no post
vcore/vtt/vdram +1-3 notch => still no post

160 is not a high bclk, I think? :confused:
Because it does not post, I do not know where to start with. :shrug:
If it has something to do with boot up clock, what value should I use? I tried a few random value like auto/135/140, and it does not help.

shadewither, you need more a lot more VTT (start around 1.32v), more DRAM voltage probably (~1.65v) and possibly more CPU vcore. Disable vdroop or else you will probably go down to 1.12v on the CPU core.

But...
I would not suggest disabling vdroop for everyday use. :shakes:
Better go with a little higher vcore. MB starts to whine when vdroop disabled. People killed this board that way.

Been well over 16+ months since i've seen 88 error code can't remember what it is specifically but i think clocking too far is one reason for it to occur or incorrect voltage/settings used.

88 is not listed error code, the only time I ever got this was a dead board. I have seen others list success with various amounts of CMOS clears and power cycles, but I could not get mine back from this.

I think as eva2000 said it has appeared for voltages and such being set improperly, I usually get other error codes for that though.

Well when i first started testing my DFI UT X58 back in Dec 2008 (dam ages ago!) got a few times 88 error codes which took a few clear cmos, power downs to recover from so not necessarily = RMA. But as i got to know what voltages/options to set, haven't seen the code for ages.

I see, I had to RMA my board when I got my first 88. But I have seen others post about 88's from voltage/timing/bclk/etc discrepancies.

So disabling vdroop really can hurt the board?

No, it won't do any damage to the board. But it can potentially damage your cpu.

DFI DK X58 + newest beta Bios + Gulftown B Stepping results also in Code 88 / 8b.
I'll try this with a UK today evening.

Anybody with an newer Bios out there? DFI does a very bad job with that bios. The buggiest beta bios i've ever seen...

Im running the latest beta bios now for 2 weeks or so and all has been perfect..havent tryed a gulftown and most likely never will on this board but the beta bios 2010-01-06 on this dk T3eH6 has been a no problem bios...I can actually achieve a higher o/clock with less voltage on this bios..
maybe a different hardware configuration may have problems but all i can say is my system is perfect with this beta bios...

i've been through 4 boards and all dead :( not even using high/wrong voltages. But indeed this boards pwm area is in my opinion 2 sensitive. I think that the early revisions(like eva's board) are the strongest.

I'm now using the gigabyte x58-ud3r board and its working better than the dfi's i've had(and cost me less then halve the price :up:)

code 88 is undefined but meanly means that the bios is bricked or problems with NB. getting code 88 meanly means you're screwed(in my experience that is :rolleyes:).

sorry dfi but making a board that's great with specific hardware combinations in some situations. isn't a great board :shakes:

I had problems with the DK, bit the UT worked fine for me (was my first DFI Board). But DFIs support is the worest ive ever seen. High End mainboard will need high end CPU support, also in ES state.
Already tried my new hexacore X5650 Stepping 1 (B) CPU in UT bit the same resolt here, code 8.8. - no post. Contacted DFI...

lol, great. Asked for a new beta or alpha bios. Somebody with connections to DFI here? CPU is working on nearly every ASUS X58 and Gigabyte X58 board, Evga also, but DFI is notable to support this CPU. So whats da reason for the 6. January Bios when Gulftown isn't supportet yet? :confused:

I'l never buy DFI any more... :down:

anyone else have issues with system temp, AKA i believe that is vreg temp in the smart monitor panel going up to 100+ under load and eventually machine shutting down?


I want to remove Vreg cooler to check everything, but on clubDFI they say not to as it will cause the vregs to burn up?!?!

hm @ i also reaching nearly 100+ with voltage over 1,4V and water cooles PWMs. My PWM cooler has very bad contact to the PWM, had to use a lot of termal paste to drop temeratures. With aircooled PWMs and high clocks, a fan should be used. Seems the digital PWMs are very less effective than normale ones.

Quite the fun thing happened to me yesterday and I'm still trying to find the problem. I had noticed that my trusty old x1600xt was a bit to weak to play hd video in linux (problematic open source drivers, no ati drivers for newer kernels), so I got me a g210 based card, and since I put that in stability went down the drain. Killed linux to find something stable with the tools I know in vista.. so far it looks like with this card the system needs at least one notch more vcore and cpu qpi drive strenght set to strong (before: normal). Anyone care to guess wth that is so? The new card supposedly needs even less power than the one before... is nvidia giving a damn about PCIe standards or what is happening here? o_0;

for the 8.8. code, if it's not fixed by a clearing CMOS.
i tried replacing the board's bios chip, and it was seem to be the fastest way for me to get the board working again.
not sure if it will work with all. but to me since i decide to continue using the board i bought another pre programed bios chip for spare just in case i have the same problem.

i saw 8.8. many times during mad ram clocking session but nothing that a clear CMOS can't solve

i had 8.8 on my P45 DK my problem was that the PSU was incompatible with the mobo :S so i bought an Corsair TX-750 and now it works ;)

Hey guys,

need some help here. When I got up this morning my computer was frozen on the boot up screen with the error code 3F. There also seems to be some graphical corruption on the screen (green lines like bars).

I'm using the 11/05 BIOS and everything was set to stock speeds for the last month or so because of the heat here.

I tried to reset the CMOS, but it just goes to the full screen logo and then nothing happens, it just freezes to post error 3F.

Anyone know what the 3F code is? Should I try and different video card since there seems to be some graphical corruption?
