i'm enjoying this article.
Anyone else care to comment on the "NEW" Intel Chipset Drivers in comparison to the ones from the D.F.I Driver disk?
Bro Esau:
I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. I've used the new ones and posted my thoughts above. If there's something specific you're after, let me know. I'm off for 3 days. :D
Speaking of off, this board is. It took me no more than 2 hours to go from 400x8 to 500x7 w/ slight increase in v all around. It's even easier than the IP35 to OC. Of course I've left most of the tweaks on auto. :slap: But that's where the massive Anand article comes into play!
I tried the new Intel Chipset drivers and I think the ones on the disk are better!
Just wondering what others that have tried the new drivers say in comparison to the Original.
Well
I worked a lot on my setup tonight
I removed the board from my case and removed the whole pipe system.
I put some artic silver 5 everywhere needed.
I remounted the pipe system and I'm sure it can't be more solid than now ... the contact is good it's impossible that it's not
now at 3.6GHZ 9 * 400 ... under load my temp are
PWM : 54
Chipset : 49
CPU : 53 47 47 54
before it was
PWM : 67
Chipset : 54
CPU 65 57 57 65
I need to say I also work on my Ultra 120 Extreme, it was a bit loose (I have a penny under it ... what I did is I added a second penny .. now it's seems to push more pressure on it and I have way better temp for my CPU)
so ... PWM and Chipset seems again hot but nothing I can do ... I mean I changed the thermal paste, I work on the screw so the contact are better, and I have a 25CM fan blowing on the mobo ...
I'm gonna try to put a small fan directly on the PWM (I already have the transpiper on it atm ..)
I won't try to OC more, 3.6 is fine for me anyway but will try to lower that PWM to something like 49-50 at least
I'll let you guys know
Any advice .. feel free to tell me !
I got a bsod while prime was running :(
Prime was running flawless for about 4-5 hours, when i got back to my pc i saw that the machine has rebootet.... so what's the problem here ?
Another question: i'm on vista and cannot update bios with winflash ..."no award bios ..." How do you flash it ?
thx, will try this when i get home.
Some interesting points relating to the boards limitations with a quad not to mention the GTL & RAM tweaking tips.
As someone that has owned or used all of the P35 DDR2 boards the DFI LP P35 was tested against I don't think the article goes quite far enough to praise the board.
Compared to the other P35 boards tested The DFI LP P35 has a smart user friendly layout, relatively simple yet effective cool operation due to the heatpipe, smooth stable voltage not to mention the fact everything on the board actual works properly. Admittedly I had to sell a kidney to buy the board but having tried all the rest I believe the DFI LP P35 is well worth the money hell you cant take it with you :ROTF:
Definitely well worth a read.

CN :)
so who has it the highest FSB with a quad?anyone reaching 500MHz stable?if so settings please?
Thank you for your words. Neither Gary or myself wanted to come across as cheerleaders, I have the typical stiff english upper lip when it comes to praise, we knew that a majority of Anandtech's usual readers would be concerned by the price, so we held back from full band and drums. Still yes it is a solid board and likely one to actually last, due to the mixed X38 results thus far.
We have set ourselves some high standards to match, it's a lot of work. So long as the new in depth approach to performance boards is liked by a majority, most of the format will hopefully remain. We know we can't keep everyone happy, Anandtech has millions of unique hits every month, the audience is very diverse in preferences.
Thanks for the feedback it is appreciated..

@Raja........Let me just congratulate you on a awesome job done on that review man! Its superbly written and very detailed (which it should be) considering the complexity of this Boards Bios. I certainly hope they don't delete any of the content as the review has merit and worth from start to finish with Viable information through out.
Moving along got my OCZ Flex XLC (PC2 9200) 5-5-5-18 and I'm am priming away at 3.55ghz right now and will post a Bios Template and screenies later!
Just had a slight annoyance. I had to swap some stuff around and ended up swapping HDDs repeatedly over the past few days and this AM the DFI would not get past POST...just would hang up after POOST and sit there.
I tried three SATA and a IDE dirve and finally (doh) cleared CMOS and all is well...
What the heck..
About to pop the Yorkfield in as I could not fly on the P5K3 lilke I hoped...got stuck at 475 FSB...and the CPU seems like it has more to give...
more soon!
How you liking that Chip Warren?
It's okay..nothing too special TBH.
But I gotta tell ya I got a serious issue with the DFI.
Maybe you can help.
It will not boot from a HDD.
I just now went through 4 drives. I finally decided to try reloading XP again some more--it picks up the DVD and loads it on the HDD NP...then reboots and just hangs after the
Back Up CMOS OK!
Thing.
WTH am I supposed to do?
I've set optimized defaults--I've tried various boot settings I've gone from SATA to IDE--same issue. I cleared CMOS...
ANy clue?
Are you on 9/13/07 Official or 10/05/07 Beta?
9/13
Sorry for the lag I have been getting a C1 error and no POST...just cleared CMOS again...
Now it will boot from HDD...
I swapped the SATA DVD from the green to the yellow header.
I think something about the ICH9R is screwing up... on the green header Windows did not see the DVD after attempting finish set up... rebooted..got the C1...cleared CMOS...rebooted into setup on HDD but it did not see the DVD Shutdown swapped headers got C1... cleared CMOS now it 's continuing set up...flaky stuff
Simple....use IDE DVD Drive and start over! See if that duplicates the Issues first do C'mos Clear.
Hmmm..that's too easy...
Will do
BTW after swapping the DVD SATA to the yellow (Jmicron?) headers I was able to proceed with the XP install...
let's see if it will actually boot though once it's done...that will be the key.
Warren....did you get two Floppy Raid Install Disks with you're mobo?
I only have JMicron Drivers on my Floppy Raid Driver disk!
