no OFFICIAL bios update in almost 2 months...
at least Asus releases a new bios almost on a regular basis...
pretty sure i'm gettin' rid of this board VERY VERY soon...
So everyone who isnt running 480+ orthos blend stable on the 1066 strap is ditching the board? I do not understand how people on unmodded boards think 450fsb is "bad", and who really cares about orthos blend anyway?
^^ I agree. For a reasonable price, this board and a 6600 is way faster than my old setup. Even stock. Cooling is important for best clocks, and I "think" it is faster than the 965 boards. (at same settings/speeds)
Orthos stability is not my main reason for getting rid of this board. I bought it to be my gaming pc's motherboard. I thought the onboard audio would be good enough, but I wasn't satisfied with it. I run sli so I can't use my creative hardware. I then decided to use it as a testbed, since it had good options for memory voltage and the Uguru feature lets you set overclocks without constantly rebooting & making changes in the bios. That was not satisfactory due to orthos blend issue above 400FSB. Now with the 680i boards, I can get 500+FSB which the AW9D-Max can't do, and still set overclocks in windows. Also native sli without hacked drivers and can still use my own sound card. Asus has had several beta bioses & and a few offical ones for the P5W since conroe came out, as well as being one of the first to implement downward multiplier adjustment within bios on their P5B. Asus just seems to be doing a better job than abit of showing signs of trying to fix issues. So I'm keeping the P5W over the AW9D-Max. Hopefully the IN9 32 will be better, but for now I'm abandoning this board while I can still get 75% of my investment back.Quote:

Even so, the board will do 3d @ 450 Mhz fsb with 2x x1950xtx cards in crossfire mode, and that's with my E6700 @ 4.5 Ghz cooled by a regular Mach II GT. Pretty good IMHO. My x1950xtx/cfe cards are nor modded and I'm just using the retail cooler for now.

So even though I cannot get ORTHOS stable much above 420 Mhz fsb, I'm stille pretty happy with it. The position of the one single pci slot sucks though, so I'm probably going to use the AW9D-Max for a LAN-Party setup. The blue flashing LED's will come in handy for that purpose as well.... :D
anyone that modded their board, hows the overclocking going? Did it improve dramatically?
I just really wish abit would release a new bios for this board, its very disturbing b.c i just bought this board and i dont want them to give up on it.....
yeah well i've given up on mine.Quote:

I would have liked a Vfsb adjustable setting in bios, but other than that, I like my AW9D-Max. I'm hanging on to it for a while too, and I don't really think the 12 bios is that bad either.Quote:

i would want to set my 6600 @3600 401x9 for dayuse :D
you're worse off then me!!! i got to 379 orthos blend stableQuote:

what a frustrating board!
It's odd, it really is odd. Seems to me it could either be a memory/bios compability issue, or maybe just very inconsistent quality of the boards? It seems these boards are either "golden" or really bad... i.e. by 975X chipset standards.Quote:
