That's a pretty nice chip Killer. I got a 148 a couple days ago. Trying it out last night, 32m Pi @ 3300mhz and a 1m @ 3496. 1.63v. Will do more tonight.

Those CAB1Es are fine. Mine will run 3.1GHz on stock voltage and TCCD ram. However I am currently using BH5 and I have bumped the Vcore a little to address the memory controller issue and have gotten to 3.2GHz. I would like to go higher but I would hate to fry this proc.
Opteron 165 CCBBE 0610DPMW, 3.0GHz on air. Bootable en stable in windows. Not 100% Prime stable (just few hours), need more vcore for that and therefore water.
My Opt 144 CAB1E 0604CPMW is runing SP2004 v24.14 now @ 3006MHz 1.37V AIR cooled :)

I've done four 32m pi's with this chip. The one above, a 20.37..a 20.36.. and this one, a 20m35s : .
Also did a validate for the heck of it..3663. http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=98026
May try more tonight as I believe it can. So far it has done everything all the way through. The validate could also go higher I think as I did not really want it to blink out. It is a 0543FPMW. I have to run with SysTool on to monitor temps.
Yep, B1 chips are just as impressive in single core as they are in dual core chips  Where did you guys get your 0614s? I have a CAB2E 0602 coming, should be nice :woot:

any idea what can i tweak in my bios to stabilise my 305x10 overclocks ?
other than vcore that is.

Oh wow all these 144's killing me. I got a 146 because I had read they overclocked well.
I'm @ 2.9GHz with 1.5v not prime stable. Had it running for 7 hours then it quit.
Could be a memory issue, but my ram is memtest stable.
I changed my TRP from 2 to 3 and that made things more stable so my prime run of 7 mins changed to 7 hours. Now I'm running a cas 2.5 to 3 and I will see how long it ran once I get home tonight. I'm at school studying on my laptop. :(
I want to hit 3GHz~!!!! I have a CAB2E 0546 UPMW on a DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D.
Hopefully I can get things stable at 2.9GHz, then I will try for 3GHz. Any others think my baby can to 3GHz?
My temps are a bit off. I was using the stock heatsink/fan, not the heatpipe one, but the crappy one, so I went out and got an XP-90C since I already had a 92mm panaflo medium at home. Now my temps with 1.5vcore gives me about 52degrees celcius full load.
I think I should try reseating the heatsink.
I've read that just adding a dab of thermal paste in the middle does it for these AMD64 processors, but does it really?
How do you guys do it?
I think my temps are too high.
Comments? :)
I just got an Opteron 146 CAB1E 0614DPCW to do 3GHz@1.425v on air :) Prime stable too!
now primestable 3000Mhz 1,55V from bios and i'm quite happy :banana:Quote:

I just got my chip from a fellow forum member and was noticing something funny.
2700mhz - 300x9 - ram @ 1T 5:6 divider-246mhz 8-4-4-3 - passes pi, fails prime in mins.
2700 - 300x9 - ram @ 2T 1:1 - 300mhz - 8-4-4-3 been priming the past hour or so.
WOW, 1t is certainly crazy on the ram that it wouldnt be stable at 246 1T but 300 2T is more stable (so far)
CAB2E 0540FPMW
Also guys, i might get a DFI LANPARTY UT NF4-D from a trade and wondering if this is the same board (performance wise) to a Ultra D? I want to give my opty what it needs and 333mhz =) I cant do that with my Asus or Abit board. Im sure this chip will do it, but the person i got it from had it on a Ultra D. Would this be a good choice? I want something that is known to do over 330fsb...and i see everyone in this thread that has a opty runs on ultra d's.
Well, 300mhz for ram crashed about 2 hours into it.
Im hoping ..dam shame =( going to get the DFI board in a few weeks, guess ill just settle till then.
Hmm, where are you fellas getting these fantastic cab1e opty 144's ?
I'm kinda interested .
:)
I have a CAB2E 0540FPMW, got it from a fellow [H] member.
So far its cranking away at 305x9, more to come when i get my DFI (hopefully)
Why isn't my siggy showing up?
My opty 165 hasn't been able to get past 283x9 stock voltages...not bad though!
starostise@ my ambient is at 18C (air conditioned room)
ohh, i cant wait till my DFI gets here....im hoping will let me hit 2.9 =) Since my boards HTT seems to crap out at around 307.
What stepping is the Opty144? You may be at the CPU limit. You may also want to try a different divider. The 5:6 isn't so friendly to me. SOmething to do with the mem controller perhaps?Quote:

All reviews i read about this asus board, put its max FSB at 305-306.
Even if i dropped my multi to 5x and go to 307, i start getting HD errors.
Im going to get a NF4-D and mod it to ultra. Also going to try some BH5 in on my asus and see what i can get out of it. So far 2670, ram at 251 7-3-3-3 2T is the highest i can do on my rig in my sig....going to swap Asus for a DFI and test some BH5. See what i can come up with.
My opteron 144 @ watercooling 3300 mhz prime stable @ 1,525v set in bios  but i hit brick wall @ 3350 and its not mobo... anyways what are top 3 highest freg, hitted with amd opteron 144, wr is 9x402 but 2 /3 ?
Lol, I have a teribly 144 :p I can't run 2700Mhz 1M with less than 1,75V
For a 1M run must i give him 1.75V :slapass:
But i have however a 3GHz SS :)
His stepping is : CAB2E 0548FPMW ( sounds not bad )
I hope this cpu burn out and get a better stepping :stick:
So far im at 2774..1mhz higher and i fail superpi half way through 32m run.

Nice! What temp? Mine bugged out at 330 with too low temps as wel, i bet it wil do 340~350 with less cold. Give it a go.
Not sure exactly, as i killed a lot of things for speed. Probably about -15 load i would guess. I wonder if i try raising the fsb using clockgen and priming at the same time would help getting past the 330 mark?
Have you tried ricky tweak? The acpi multidriver wil get idle temp up and load wil be about the same as idle temp using that driver. It helped me getting from 330 to 353 which is enough :D Rightclick the acpi uniprocessor (device manager, computer) thats in use now, properties, update driver, choose driver yourself option and pick acpi multi.
If you are using XP and you want to switch back to uni you have to use the "use previous driver option". In win 2000 you can do the same as above but choose the uni driver again (again NOT in XP! the uni wont show up).
I prefer this over priming/raising HTT.
This is me max with uni driver:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/Viss1/Temp.jpg
and this with multidriver:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...0483511MBM.jpg
Wow, that's a big jump! I have to admit i'd completely forgotten about the coldbug kicking in at higher fsb. Will give this a go when i have a spare evening. Btw, does the tweak kick in straight after posting has finished, or does it only start once fully into windows?
After posting while windows starts afaik. I booted with 330 and raised in windows using cg.
Sweet, cheers for your help. If you see me post more results then you'll know it worked.
Just got my Opty 165 yesterday, it's CCB1E 0609FPMW.
Should go well with my G.Skill DDR600 TCCD Kit and Ultra-D Mobo. Any suggestions?

I got a 165 too the other day and its in my Ultra-D but Im having stability problems in Windows. It seems like it just likes to freeze for no reason. Is there any sort of driver I have to install or anything?

Hi everyone, I'm new here but been reading here for awhile. Finally got a opty 165 ccbbe 0617 fpmw. Just wondering if anyone been able to take this baby to 3ghz on air? I'm on a Big Typhoon w/ a 110cfm Silverstone fan. I primed it 11hours last nite at 1.44@2.924ghz. Haven't been able to get 3ghz prime stable and if you have what are you mobo volts if on a expert board. Nice oc likewhoa!
just recently upgraded from G.skill 4800FF to this beauty. My latest OCing result

Holy mackeral!
I have been away for a few and I can't believe how much AMD Opterons have improved in stepping and performance overhead! 3200Mhz is simply outstanding!
I remember people posting that AMD cores didn't have anything left beyond 3Ghz a few months back when the duo's made there introductions. Now look.... 3200mhz :slobber: That must be stepping into core 2 territory no?
Anyways, nice to see these numbers! - I might invest in just one more chip if the stepping proves consistent :)
LoL 3200 was yesterday....:D
Today new score reached..

hey ive had a 148 for awhile, and ive been having probems getting it to clock well, as it sits in my sig( 264X11 1.475 volts) im really stable. if i drop to a 10 or 9x multy i can hit 290fsb on this mobo( i think thats all it has to give, tops out at 300, it was cheap)
currently i am hitting a mear 40*c at prime load for a hours, BUT if i bump my FSB up even 2 mhz, i cant prime for more the 5mintues....
im content with this chip doing 2.9 stable and under 1.5volts, but id really love to see something over 3 (i know im maxed by 290X11 cause of mobo) but id be happy with 272X11,and im cool wiht upping the volts as well, just not sure if itll help much.
ive got my HTT withen stable settings for this board and my ram is aslo stable up to 240 mhz, runing a 166 div to keep me under....
can anyone give me some pointers? feel free to PM me help as to not clutter this thread of holy optys :P much thanks for anyhelp!
i love seeing what these 165 etc.. can do under water and phase, those are jsut plain out killer clooks!!!

Topless Opteron 148 0543FPMW @ 264*11 w/ 1:1 g.skill hz @ 3-4-4-8.

I'm pretty sure my an8 ultra reports voltages slightly higher than they really are. This is 24/7 speed btw - I there's a brick wall at roughly ~2950 where more voltage just doesn't help.
I have exactly the same problem, I can't push fsb mhz higher than ~267 without failing prime within minutes. I'd really like to see something over ~3ghz but I don't think it's going to happen with reasonable aircooling volts. I think with a nice WC setup you could boost core volts up to ~1.65 and see some action with these chips.Quote:

*shrug* im thinking of getting water onto this bad boy, as im getting a lanparty board soon *woot* on i pulled the IHS off one day cause i was really board :P i saw a 5* drop while priming, of course this was when i had a :banana::banana::banana:tttyyyyy heat sink, at 250*11 with 1.45 volts itd hit 45*c!!!
im also going to be getting a athlon 3700+ so ill be able to compare the chips, should be fun!
im really happy to know im not the only one with this wall! thanks for the info!

Does 2x512MB ram sticks and 2x1GB ram sticks have somewhat the same stressing effect on the memory controller? Or does 2x1GB runs alot heavier?
In what way will this affect an overclock ?
As for myself, I have 4x512MB and this is just  , got 2x512MB out of my system and it runs alot better, overclocks better for the cpu and the ram. Though this is nothing new, my question is, is it smart to sell this 4 sticks and get myself 2x1GB sticks ?
