Damn I hate my motherboard :slap: ... I just can't get it to stay stable at 3dmark , games and since a few days it even crashes randomly in windows :( I will take a good look at it tomorrow but does someone know special things to look for ..

I'm thinking about buying another motherboard though... But they are damned expensive I must say...

its ur tccd memory the an8 dont agree with it.

Opty 148 CABYE at 2.9 ghz 1.575v rock stable. Will be shooting for more after doing some burning in.

ABIT Fatality AN8 non SLI.........Worked 24/7 crunching for about 2 months at DEFAULTS: Ram timings and Vdimm, Vcore, AMD64 X2 4400+@ default frequency, rock stable........Finally when one day I came to my place, I show the computer down - shut off - Motherboard has DIED just like that...!.....DEFAULT everything...... :( :mad:

Has this happent to any of you guys?.......

Mine is similar but isnt dead....yet. If i shut it down it wont power back up without the cmos being reset. :mad:

I have a simple solution. Pour alcohol on it set it on fire. WHen the fire goes out cool it down, then package it with a note to Abit: "Don't ever design and release such trash ever again!"

But then again, they probably won't listen and just stuff more money into some loser's pocket.

have you tried loosening the MAL(Max Async Latency) and Read Preamble to 9/7 for higher clocks and better stability....can't remember now whether my Abit had that option in bios.......i cannot boot to 3GHz windows at anything other than 7 or 7.5ns on Read Preamble ......I also need 9ns on MAL...........i know that Abit is a little less sensitive to timings changes but i'd give it a try and see what happens.....[EDIT] just noticed the multiplier...probably wouldn't make any difference as above settings refer to high HTT OCs with 144/146 CPUs........ :)

I only just got my opteron so I'm still testing it

omg, now i have recieved my last mem that was on RMA... i haven't run this board before with 4x512MB just 2x512... and with all four modules i cant even get the god damn board stable with 2.5-3-3-8 and 3.4v!!!
and when i have tried running only one pair at the time the mems are at least stable @ 245MHz(490). 2.0-2-2-6 and 3.4v.. they probably can do even more, but thats the max i have tried... so now i'm getting pretty pissed and are thinking about getting a new board!

Since TCCD/TCC5 generally do not agree with this MB, what is a good alternative?

Maybe something like OCZ ‘VX’ (the PC4000 stuff)?

stay away from that combo Abit+PC4000VX i've tried 2xpairs and had plenry of problems and nothing else...i could not for the life of me get them stable at the rated speed and timings

Had that, Abit fatal1ty an8 sli + 1GB OCZ Gold Vx PC4000 and now with 2GB OCZ Gold PC4000, not good at all with any of them, just too painfull watching these expensive rams getting wasted.

Official bios 18 have been released now.. but it seems that the bios is the same as the Beta04 bios. (there have been beta02 and 04).
heres an updatelog & link:

1. Enhanced some VGA cards compatibility.
2. Update nVIDIA RAID BIOS to V4.8
