Very nice  I flashed the 0702 and whilst I cant get my q6600 any higher , will boot higher but stuck on 3.6 for prime, my overall PC response in Vista seems zippier- if its not my imagination I will have to find out why.
Hey guys i've followed this thread for along time and just signed up to post in it. I've been running my e6750 @ 3.6 fsb : 450 with ram at 901 w/ 4-4-4-12 timings for along time now. I use the 06xx bios and recently flashed to the 07 and couldnt boot with my usual settings, matter of fact i couldnt get past 425fsb with my usual settings, i think it had something to do with the cpu and NB skew even though i tried different ones. Check the asus forum, they were saying this bios is for the p5k3 (pretty sure they said the p5k3 b/c it wasnt our board for sure and was originally on the asus site for that board) then it was taken down. I was able to downgrade back to the 06xx bios using the asus bios utility thankfully.
It works perfectly, I honestly don't know what you're on about.

Thats the thread about it on the asus forums, its presumed to be a beta bios. I will try it again when they officially release it but it just wasnt work for me and my e6750 for some reason. I tried everything i could think of even more voltages but couldt boot past 425fsb unless i lowered the multiplier, had to have something to do with the cpu/nb skew settings. Also for anyone watercooling the northbridge, did you change the SB heatsink or cut the heatpipe somewhere and use the stock one?
I've been playing with the new BIOS for a day or so. I haven't had any problems with it, but I also haven't noticed any improvement over 0612 either.
ya I had this problem ever since I flashed to 0204, and it was fixed when PCIE is set to 113mhz. And then at 0504, the problem got worse. I can no longer lock 16x at all, only by setting the fsb at 399mhz. This is so annoying I even gave a death run at 120mhz still no lock... will upping the NB help at all? I have bumped it up to 1.8v and still no luck, just wondering if I should give it more?
I would rma the board with the pci-e x16 problems.......
Just flashed to 0702 yesterday and all is good apart from, I am not able to lower the CPU multiplier any more. At least the CPU temp bug appears to be fixed with this one for me at least.
Strike that it is all good, just being a dumbass as usual.
ive been running it for over a week zero problems 0702 that is

What do these two new settings do?
"CPU Clock Skew"
and
"NB Clock Skew"
I just have them on Auto just now.
Thanks
I just got this board today.
I was aiming for the 24/7 settings of my Gigabyte P35-DS3.. changed mobos because of the Giga's HORRIBLE vdrop + vdroop... wouldn't give me anything above 1.5v
Anyway I just had to use 1.55v for NB Volt to get 500fsb... Isn't that a bit high? In my Gigabyte I never needed to raise my NB volt before 533fsb...
There are also so many options it makes me kinda lost :p
But I'm just really curious as to whether 1.55v for NB volt is ok.. Not like it's getting hot or anything...
Thanks in advance! :)
i would say its fine long as it dont get hot placing a small fan on the nb helps
Rich
okay
is there anyway to check vDIMM in this mobo?
asus ai suite also shows it i dont know how close it is tho
Rich
Never used AI suite, nice to know.
Hi
Just been playing with hitting 450Mhz and thought would share findings:
Static RAM control - seems to change two settings
1) decreases performance level (tRD) by 3 (ie when transaction booster is set at relaxed,0 tRD is 10 with SRC off and 7 with SRC on)
2) changes Read Delay Phase Adjust from Neutral to about +29T (varies depending on FSB - 29T at 450, 25T at 440).
3) Max tRD as predicted by the AnandTech formula does not POST with SRC enabled. max-1 does.
4) Everest memory bandwith is similar between tRD-1 with SRC on and tRD with SRC off (ie at 450MHz tRD6 (max) SRC off = 450Mhz tRD7 SRC on)
The combination with SRC on is also more stable as SRC on, trans booster relax,0 (gives tRD 7) and increasing FSB termination voltage to 1.2 allowed me to hit 450 stable for the first time (other settings stock - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1182), although vcore needed to go from 1.2750 to 1.3000 for that small increase from 440MHz FSB.
Now to try 460! (any hints! :) )

I'm not using the same cpu so this may not apply but I need a PLL of 1.6v and and FSB term of 1.4v to achieve 500 fsb. t-booster is at auto which results in a perf level of 11. These settings will allow me to boot at 525x9, and semi stable (spi 1m) at 500x9. I haven't manually adjusted anything that you've mentioned so far and remain stable at the clocks in my sig. (475x9)
That is so weird.
I use Strap 333, and I only need to raise NB volt to 1.55 to get 500fsb.. no PLL or FSB Termination voltage.
Also 1.55 takes me as far as 533fsb, which is the maximum my ram will give me.. Maybe it would go even higher..
True. anyway there's people out there getting 500fsb at stock NB volts...
Has anybody found and literature on what the new options in bios 702 do?
still trying to achieve 4.5gh stability with this 8400.

hmm, image isn't working.
ahh there we go.

Has anyone else noticed that the 702 BIOS has disappeared from the Asus website?
