I'm downloading the release version I think right now. This looks pretty nice. I do most stuff in linux, but it would cool to have a little part for 3d benching and gaming. Windows XP can be flaky when you are playing around with your settings and memory timings.
Just wondering if you guys have any designs to change the shell at all to the *box varieties. I used one for a while -- it could use some tweaking definitely but the potential is there.
gonna make a partition to run this on in a little while... how big should I make it?

guys, i was just wondering, what are the legal issues with stuff like this, i mean not for me but for you, are you allowed to let people download windows off you for free, even if it is stripped down?
i mean i know that you woundn't really be able to use this sort of windows for a standard operating system because theres so much missing, but......well im sure you know what i mean :rolleyes:

You need to be patient when plugging in those drivers, after you started a driver install you must wait until all the driver components has been installed before reboot (can be multiple popups) ..this does only require for a click on the "automatic install" button...multiple times if you are installing Audio for example. This is a result of the Shell Hardware Detection beeing deactivated...will save resources but requires patience. Decision was made to do this considering that drivers wont be installed everyday...but you surely would like to have the extra resources gained at hand everyday...right? :D
Anyway, goal was and still is a performance OS...not a convenience OS.;)

BTW nn step if you need more mirros to dl the files from let me know then at last i might be able to put my server to some work.. :) It is hostet on an 100/100 MBit connection and there are plenty of room on the disk.. :D
Update: Did just install it in vmware, and the install did only take 6mins and with an memory use of 40 mb after install.. i am at the moment running it with an dotnet 2.0 irc client an mate is making with no probs.. will start to runs some stress test later to day..
Downloading now, gonna rip out an old 20g IDE drive from a P1 rig thats in the basement.
A thought though. anyway we could get this running off a large thumb drive like a 256 Mb thumb drive?

This is also what I get. Tried with 3 different ati drivers and also the omega driver that I usually run. When you run dxdiag, the option to enable 3d acceleration is not available and greyed out. This is with the latest alpha. i wonder if it's an issue with ati cards?Quote:
