so how's that 6800GS performing?
so how's that 6800GS performing?
Gigabyte i-Ram installed... it was a tight fit. I managed to install a reduced Windows XP totalling around 800mb in size
which left me 3.2gb for apps which is more than enough...
Interestingly the i-Ram with 4 dimms and a battery pack seem to have increased temps in my system... at idle cpu up
a degree to 27C, PWMIC up one at 29C, and chipset up 4-5C @ 37C. I think the hot battery pack is directly below the
chipset.
Windows boots fast and is very responsive, all apps just pop right up. So far so good... :)

To fix the extra heat generated by the i-Ram and solve my hot pwmic temps, I put a silent 1100rpm 120mm
Coolermaster fan pointing down towards pwmic and chipset... I closed the case already for this quick 2 min warmup at
2800mhz 1.43v so I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. It seems to keep temps reasonable...

GS is performing pretty well, I didn't bother voltmodding for this setup but under the MCW60 it's clocking up to 540/1250 and load temps on the GPU are around 36C under 3DMark05 monitored by rivatuner...Quote:

gocchin, I beg you to make sure that all of your savegames and all data files do NOT reside in the i-ram.. I run a raid-0 of raptors for my OS, and Im just waiting for it to die, but with the i-ram its even scarrier.
BUT im happy to hear its working well.. I bet that upgrade makes the system feel faster than most any other upgrade would. Now just imagine if they made the i-ram dual channel and you used two of them with SATA2... That would be 1.2GB/s of bandwidth from your OS/progs, and a total of 8GB of space.. Drool worthy wouldnt even begin to explain that.
Here's that temporary PWMIC cooling solution pic. :)

NO data at all is on the i-Ram, just a stripped down version of XP with the apps I need. I do have 2 x Samsung Spinpoint 250gb in the hard drive bay to handle all data duties. :)Quote:

I've been obsessed with her for years and consider myself one of her number one fans. I've even seen her in person a few times in Japan, no I'm not stalking her or anything ;), it was at live concerts and musicals as well as public appearances.Quote:

nice blog! :) :toast:
The two things I gotta quiet in this rig... DFI chipset fan and 50z.... fans and hard drives are inaudible... but those two... GRRRRRRRRRRRR.
what is the bios temp set for 100% speed on the chipset fanQuote:

Sure wish you lived nearby to as I would pay $$ for help setting up my system...
DFI chipset, with that 120mm fan in there, simply go into bios, under the temps section set the fan max speed to like 70'c, and the min fan speed for temp like 35. It will spin slower as it will only attempt to keep the temps higher. (but temps will be fine)Quote:

You plan on capping that t, yes?
Minion, nice job fitting two rads in there. But i have to say that a simple T-line would have worked out better with regards to performance and style.
Nice job with the rads there mion! Can you post some more pics of it.
Does anybody with an DFI Expert know if a rad will fit?
gocchin hasent you silent the disk at all? Maybe its just me (and my disks :P ) but my maxtor can be heard with stock air, overclocked :/
Maxtors are loud as heck. Im slowly switching to samsungs for the noise. Theyre also faster at transfers, and dont heat up as much... win/win
FWIW...I have the my P180 modded and leaking testing as we speak...so far 4hrs plus...
not much difference except I modded the lower chamber for a 120mm intake fan in front of the HDD
My setup is a mcp655 vs 50z
I will say my storm rev 2 bottom..looked shiny but on close inspection there were marks and spots...not very happy about that..hopeful no issues
I tried to clean off the spots with alcohol...did not matter...I will post pics of my setup once I know it is up and running and leak tested
I will say on setting 5 the pump is very quiet the 250 w psu I am using to run the loop seems horrible loud compared to the pump....low hum
btw on leak testing I am running no fans..this is ok?
it's fine along as the temps are not out of control. personally I'd have the fans going.Quote:

yeah, its fine, lol, that pump doesent create enough heat :)
Well I didn't like the sound of the dfi chipset cooler and tried to track down a Jing Ting cooler. Couldn't find one so I thought I'd try an Asus A8N32-SLI board with it's silent heatpipes. Very nice board... I also took the opportunity to throw in the D5 and it's definitely quieter than my 50z when all hooked up.
In order to handle the extra heat dump of the D5, I re-routed the pump outlet to rad to storm. After redoing everything... the damn Asus wouldn't post.
I was careless that I didn't test it first to make sure it was a good board. Anyway I took it all apart and the DFI SLI-DR is back in again but with the D5 and new loop.
As I mentioned in another thread too I dropped one of the MCW60 screws/spring down the drain so it's mounted with only 3 right now.
Still good temps. Cpu 27C idle 34C load, GPU 29C idle 36C load....
Here are some pics...

Hmm..does it matter whether the Rad inlet port is top or bottom???
That sucks =/
Chipset fan noise is why i went for my A8R32-MVP instead of waiting for the DFI...
Well the board has already been shipped back for RMA... so I will get another one.
I figured the inlet on the top of the rad would be good since gravity helps the water flow downwards through the rad... it's probably not the case, but I feel the pump works harder to push the water up the rad... :)
interesting....thanks
I love this forum people are so nice and helpful
