Sucks to hear :( I chipped 2 corners and smashed 3 SMDs on my 146. With heavy wide di/ln2 unit's you need to be REALLY careful and mount with some support to keep it balanced, especially on those tiny dothans.

actually hipro5 has an old P4 ES IHS which fits the dothan perfectly.

Some UPDATES.....

The QUEEN ATI IS BACK for it's throne as for the 3DMark 2k1........:D

ONLY problem now is the ORB.......Doesn't recognize the X1900XTX card so I have to wait until the project could be published......

Cold bug has hited me once again with this VGA......NO GO under cascade so the score is with a single phase change system and -20*C......:(

Nice results man. I expected X1900XTX memory to go higher than that though, it is the same 1.1ns stuff as 7800GTX512MB is it not? Anyway, I shouldn't be complaining with results like that!

actually hipro5 set another WR, the one burning a x1900xtx before its release date! :D, this card had no cold bug, clocked veeeeery well both GPU/MEMS.

we'll have 2 more x1900xtx's to test really soon + more LN2 + Dothans full power ;)

Now thats funny... When sky was here, we putted a IHS on my 780ES. Put it on my Adapter aaand! No go... My first thought was, yeah, i rock, i killed my 780ES while putting a heat spreader on it!
After i removed the IHS (yes, i just removed it, nothing more), it worked again. Maybe sky tod the story about his 780ES, also very mystical...

hey you just upped my hopes. my 780es went the no-booting route a long
time ago. so maybe i can get it to live. from the looks of it, if it is damaged,
it is a very very very tiny bit of one corner.

oh and on a sidenote. a friend (see post above :) ) had this funny thing
happen to his 780es - he put a p4 ihs on it and with the heatspreader on
the chip it wouldn't boot at all - we thought we had killed 2 of those chips
in a matter of hours. turned out that it would boot just fine without the
ihs - WTF? ;)

(edit he beat me to post this... ^^)

i guess i will cut an old credit card to use as a spacer around the core and
hope to get it working like that.. crap crap crap ;). i finished mine off before
i could test it on any of my p4gd1's, doh. it died using the ct-479 cooler,
kinda silly really, had it to ~2900 wanted to test it on my other adaptor and
it wouldn't boot anymore. to my eyes it doesn't really look damaged in any
way, one corner looks faintly, very faintly actually suspicious, but that's it.
all the parts would fire up, but i wouldn't get a post.
i was about ready to put it under phase - if it's dead already, i'm gonna kill
it for good grrr ;)
