not a chance in hell at 110nm. Even at 90nm the architecture is not really designed for high frequencys, so even 550 would be something excellent.Quote:

You said that at least 40 times on this forum mickey.
We all know its late!

And guys, Troman's 625 @ 90nm isn't THAT far-fetched, since 500 is easily achievable on GTXs @ 110nm. A bit on the high, yes, but we'll probably see some nice improvements, and what about these delicious 32-pipe rumours? Won't happen probably, but all taken into account, the Ultra looks promising. I mean, everyone's saying what an ocer the X1800XT (and even XL) are gonna be (with ATI's new tool and all that...well, yes, adjustable voltage, if true, is cool), yet you have no faith in a potential Ultra (and it's capabilities)? What is this? How many of you have contributed with the oc of your retail sample to the X1800XT oc database?
Troman > Just to eliminate any misunderstanding, although my last post was very harsh, it was nothing personal, and the rolleyes were directed completely at ATI.
each time i read about the adjustable voltage of the X1800XT with a software program i keep wondering about RMA.
Shouldnt b hard if a person that has no idea what he/she is doing buys a x1800 and kills the card by using the options delivered by this software tool and then tries to RMA it.

tbh i think 32 pipes with the Ultra is a lilt o much to hope for. and damn wich CPU would u need to run them.
I was gonna buy a 1800XT as soon as it is released, but now this Ultra coming (i hope) i have no idea if i should wait.
But all i have seen about Ultra is one short notice at the site posted in post #1 and nothing else.
So i guess its not coming any time soon.
i wouldnt say the lack of news means it isnt coming anytime soon.
The last few months it almost seems asif Nvidia is controlling the news that comes out so rare isit that news comes from them.
So i wouldnt say it isnt coming anytime soon.
If the Ultra runs significantly hotter than the GTX, I'll buy it.
^ Uh ok... I'm only upgrading if it can burn my house down.
Those of us with good cooling didn't gain much from stock cooling with GTXs....I want my money's worth without having to do a physical vmod. The XT will gain from WC, but if the Ultra runs hot and benefits from WC, I'll probably get that.
Now that's Xtreme :DQuote:

Either way, I'll take whatever they want to give out....others can fill the gaps (that's easier than doing EVERYTHING).
the best option would be, if ati handles this like nvidia. nvidia integrates the oc-tool in the forceware, but only after unlocking it with a 3rd party tool named "detonator unlock" (which edits/adds some registry values) one is able to access those features.Quote:

so both sides would be happy:
"pros" unlock the vmodding-feature and "noobs" can't damage their hardware by playing around with the vmod.
it's kinda simple, isn't it? :p: ;)
"Noobs" has access to google also =)
"Noobs" reads forums tooQuote:

About ATI Tool 0.25 B9, I´ve been trying it and it´s pretty useless up to know, It´s still far from being a final beta release.
Noobs also tend to be spoiled by their parents who'll buy them 2 ultras/xt's the day of release and a FX-57 to go with them, then fry the parts and whine to mommy and daddy, who'll rma them, and cost the company more money.
Atleast we know why ATi lowered their warranty to 1 year only...
too lazy to read it all but let me comment:
Its about time for a 7800ultra. I did hear it was cancelled but that must of been a ruse to fool ati and it worked! Would be smart of Nvidia to really bite ati by releasing a 7800u that would beat the x1800xt before it even shows in stores! Then ati will have no choice but price the x1800xt cheap and get out r580
I mean just think about it,.....we heard NOTHING from nVidia after X1000 launch....only the beta driver....which contained an entry of a still unknown card...(let alone in the time between GTX launch and X1000 release)
Now, in all that time that the GTX is already on the market...it would be extremely stupid to not put that time to use...and create a faster card...that INQ article of the Ultra cancelled was just BS....probably to fool everyone...including ATI...I never ever believed it...
im 23 but isit to late to be addopted by such parents :D :banana:Quote:

I also heard this card isn't going to be coming out is that true?
Look up 2 posts and read the rest of the thread. The 7800 Ultra was never cancelled most likely.Quote:

If you guys don't recall, nvidia said those didn't exist either and the final release date wasn't know to us until a few weeks or even days before the launch. I'm not saying that the 7800Ultra is going to be released but you can't rule it out based on the lack of rumors or acknowledgement from nvidia.
