I plan to get a 3000+ folding too at some point here.... if my parents will let me do it to their comp :p: Maybe install it on some friends' computers too...

Hi I just started folding a few days ago and I was wondering how much of a difference going to a dual core cpu whould make ? Atm i'm using a 3200+. Also has anyone seen what the conroe can do with folding@home ?
I just started running. Will be left on a lot. Opty 165 @ 2745 mhz. Hope this helps! My username is norse for stats I believe.
Also, I noticed it's not using both cores, how do I fix this?
@ THX1138: In theory, it should run twice as fast. I'm not sure what a conroe would do in F@H.
@ norse: load it twice (there should be a guide around here on how to load it twice).
Welcome to all the new faces!
hey guys i just started folding for xtremesystems hopefully i can get a couple of
computers so i can leave them on over night.. but i got a question how much bandwitdh does it use?
F@H uses very little bandwidth, only when uploading and downloading data.
Welcome to the new members. If we keep growing we can get into the top 100,that is our next goal. :toast:
Hi, i have no idea what this is about.. :) could someone plz explain what is folding? who does it? benefit? thx
Folding uses protein structures to help find out cures for diseases and such. It benefits mankind. There are many different folding projects. This one is ran by Stanford.
O what a shame, I'm folding for Team 596 and currently we are getting owned by Vietnam. It's basically a back and forth thing - we need more GHz :slap:
How about last link at my sig... would that help at understanding project: F@H.Quote:

BTW, I have no clue what "Stanford" is over "Rosetta @ Home". I thought folding for XS was the same thing. Either way, exuse my noobness on this with my willingness to help contribute!!! :D
But please do explain and lemme know if good ol' Socket A can help for a week or two!

Can you PM me or post here one what I need to get up and running.
Program to download / configuration on my system (if I need to do anything?!?!) / login to start for the team and of course, where to get the sig that shows your points off!
Welcome to the team Moonraker
You can download the app here: http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html I always use the text-only client, to get going just throw it in a folder ( C:\fah\ ) and run the exe, it'll run you through a brief setup. Team # is 36362, thats the crucial bit, & your username of course. Check UnG's setup guide in sc00p's sig for more details on setup etc.

( We'll be on page 1 soon :D )
OK, having said that. I did the Graphic interface install and it says (after 15mins!!) 5 frames completed. Is that right? Here's a screenie:

Also, how does the points system work? - I know I won't be giving much on a Socket A - Athlon XP 3000+
Yes that looks right, some wus take along time.

John.
Just joined up, I have 2 Conroe cores (E6600 at 3.2 ghz) running and a Northwood 3 Ghz P4. I also have a 800 mhz PIII lying around, would it even be worth hooking it up?
