I'm sure most people do :p: It's kind of disappointing that the thread starter has been missing the past two weeks.. It would be nice to get some more information surrounding this memory.. The only alternative for the most part at the present time is Crucial Ballistix, which comes at a premium and isn't affordable to most people on a budget.. Hopefully this OCZ kit is under $300.. :)

Well from what i understand the ballistix is becoming scarce. Something changing. lets hope its for the good.

I agree ^^ Looking for 2x1GB sometime soon but waiting to see about the new OCZ and/or Ballistix

sorry I've been away! Real life issues etc...
Delay has been unfortuneate. I've been in contact frequently with manufacturer and problem has been sourcing IC's after R&D was completed I guess.

I am told new IC's have been located but have not been authorized to disclose brand/speed/designation of memory etc...

Based on your reply, one could assume correctly that the memory you are testing is not the OCZ 2GB (2x1024) D/C Kit PN - OCZ5002048ELGE-K that was announced last week?

I may have a set of these tomorrow. Retail should be very soon. I haven't been give permission to disclose the ram chip type yet. Cost should be $355+ inintially I think. they tried to hit 2.5-3-3 or 3-3-3 at ddr500 but yields weren't good enough to get enough ssticks to make that a go so they went with 3-4-4, but I understand there will be a very good chance of either a higher clock or 3-3 in many cases. With all these 1 gig sticks there is quite a bit of binning that goes on.

I've just made the leap from 1g to 2g, albeit the 4x512mb route. Ram should arrive in 3-4 days, then I will report back. If everything goes to plan, heh, only change should be running 2T. My rig is for gaming, so we'll see if the benfits are apparent immediately. I'm thinking it will be night and day for loading times in games.

Made such a drastic difference in hitching BF2 for me. Guess I'm the only one that zones out when my comp is loading. :D Come to think of it, it's pretty quick now. Optimizing shaders is still an occasional anooyance. 2 gigs definitely rounds out the package, necessary partner for this GTX here, definitely feel like I finally can tell any game to bring the pain. Big rez's were bringing the pain to my gig instead. First days with BF2, and the new card, and my only 1 gig wasn't very pleasing. I think I waited 2 hours before I odered ram.

I just got corsair value @81gb. Good price/performance aided by 1T being free. Dunno, just couldnt bring myself to spend a ton for ballistix or a second set of high end 2 *512's. I think this might be the last DDR1 for me. Gonna sell these LE's and stay over here in 3-3-3@240ish ville.

At $355 they're going to be cutting out a lot of potential buyers.. =/ Too bad it wasn't under $300... :(

Dude thats not high if it'll perform like the ballistix. Like we've all heard said a million times, You get what you pay for. Those who want 2GB of ram that can overclock extremely well will pay that without thinking twice. I'd pay $400 if i had to. To me its well worth the money. I just hit 288 32m stable with my 2 gigs. Thats worth the money IMO.

The Centon 1GB sticks at my work (CompUSA) use the same chips, I'd be curious to see how they'd do.

hey gastro i got a 2x512 set of centron memory i think it has the same chips but lower density. i couldnt even get them to run stock speed untill i gave them 2.9 volts then @ 3.1 volts they went up to ddr 490 stable

1GB RAM doesn't look like its going to be enough for upcoming games so I'm thinking of using more. I was thinking about my options when I had an idea, instead of using 4x512MB low latency at 250Mhz 2-2-2-5 2T, 4x512MB TCCD at 290Mhz 2.5-3-3-7 2T, or 2x1GB at 275Mhz 3-3-3-8 1T, has anyone tried running 2x512MB+2x256MB? Would this be possible? And if so, would you be able to run 1T or would you still have to use 2T? This is an interesting idea because 2GB of good overclocking RAM is expensive and 2x256MB of BH-5 is easy to come by these days for cheap.

huh never thought of that hijon89 good idea!! im sure someone here with alot of ram will test that. 1.5gb of ddr500 2-2-2-5 1t would be awesome!!! just enough ram it would be perfect. but does it work like that??????? someone do tell

I can test it once my mobo comes back from RMA, I have 2x512MB Corsair BH-6, 2x256MB Corsair BH-6, 2x512MB GSkill LE, 2x512MB OCZ VX4000, and 2x512MB Kingston BH-5 to play with :D

Are you allowed to disclose the ballpark range with regards to MSRP? manufacturer? timings? Estimated date of product going retail?

Looks like CUSA has a $165-$45 rebate on these right now. Didn't CUSA get rid of their restocking fee? Maybe you could pick up a pair and test. :D BTW - What do you do at CUSA?

If the Centons/Elixers do something crazy I'll race you over to the Centon site for the $99 special they have on these sticks right now. :toast:
