Just flashed my 7800gtx from xfx with the bios that brings 470/1350 clock default...
Didn't loose monitoring temperature :)

Cooling is still stock, no vmod's (YET) :D will try the 500/1400 later with this cooling perhaps, will think about it ;)
Is that without any coldbug? Where did you get it?
and that didnt matter anymoa because with the 77.76 it should be fixed theres only 1 problem these drivers arent FM approved.Quote:

There is none. It's the core and not the bios that limits the temperatures.Quote:

This bios worked great for me. I have a 7800GTX with a 172W pelt and the 77.77 driver wasn't addressing the "cold bug". I would get a BSOD every time I ran a 3D app. The card works fine now and the on-board sensor reads -12C. Unfortunately it hasn't overclocked well peaking at 530mhz for the core. Guess I'll have to volt-mod it to get it higher.
I was making some bios from the EVGA KO bios and first try i got ambient temp reading.
I havent seen that one before or maybe i missed something but it was working.
Ended up with one that has only 1 performance level and no +40mhz and 1.4volt all time.
Gained 300+ points in 05 compared to non modded bios.
:clap: VictorShen, you are my hero. I almost had an aneurism when I set up my pelt cooling setup on my BFG7800GTXOC, powered it on, set up windows, went to run a 3d bench, and bam, computer froze. I found this thread, and I was a little scared to do the flash, but I looked through and saw a few good experiences so I went for it. I had the 78.02 Drivers, cold bug was not resolved for me
Here's my experience:
GPU and ambient temperatures are displayed, gpu idle = -5C
clocked to 570/1360 scored 9263 3dm05
I used the 1.4V 470/1300 version of the the BIOS, from post #46 Pg2 of this thread!

Vapor, I think its the ram clocks, and possibly some throttling, but its a lot better than the 0 3dmarks I was getting before.
I need to put a nice big fan there, right now just ramsinks kind of surrounded by the neoprene for the insulation,and no direct airflow, they need to breathe!
That is a very low score for your clocks...I'd expect nearly 10k with those clocks. Sounds like a throttle issue of sorts.
try dropping from 583/1360 to 581/1360 and you will get a better score.Quote:

So its not like the only thing you can do with water cooling your card is loose the temp monitoring to get these cards to run full speed.
Onto the overclocking..
So far i'm limited to my mem cooling.. Since these OCZ BGA copper heatsinks have been used before twice and now the double sided tape is trashed and not making perfect contact by any means i can only get less then 1400Mhz on them stable.. ruffly around 1386Mhz. I have 2 sets of 8 frozencpu monster BGA copper heatsinks on the way
The GPU i have benched up to 530Mhz.. now i cant remember if thats 530+40 or just 530.
Not bad i guess with no mods done.. YET!
Strange part is that i can get the mem to bench at 1400Mhz or more only if i down clock the GPU to say under 500.. Like 480-490.. So i dont know if thats just like a power issue or what.
My top scores right now for 3dmark off the top of my head:
3dmark 01 = 35,800+
3dmark 03 = 32,000+
3dmark 05 = 13,000+
Do these scores seem about right for my rig? I'm using the 78.03 drivers i believe.

My XFX Does 490/1470@orig bios/stock cooling=D=D=D Just need to get a better gpu cooler and it will do atleast 520+
