Well, biblically speaking, as in an "issue of blood" I think the "cold boot issue" has been almost biblical in proportion (spinning heads, thrust vomiting, nasty voices etc.). I believe this one calls for an exorcism !
Has anyone else not been able to clock as high with this bios? With 5/10 bios I'm stable at 2.8, but with 6/18 I can't even get 2.7 stable. I was happy when my cold boot issue with the twinmoss memory was gone, but don't understand how this bios lowers my cpu stability. Running at 10x255-2-2-2-6@3.5v prime stable, windows memtest stable, 32m super-pi stable. I think this rules out memory as the problem. At 10x270 with 180 divider I can't even pass 1m super-pi. Tried more vcore, still not stable. So, flash back to 5/10. Switch back to OCZ memory and set up my old settings. Now at 10x280 running fine. Any suggestions? Maybe there is something I missed.
I have just tried 618-3 and I had real trouble getting over 2500mhz with my 3500 caa2c.
I am going to try out 618-2 now. Like 4X4N, I am unsure if I have missed something.
awaiting a bios savior before moving this time .... also real interested in if DFI will make this offical - the buggy 3-15 actually hit their web site as offical ... for a very short time .... It must be a high priority for them ... with all the X2's and problems ...
having GOOD results now with this bios. 618-3
Key is to set read preamble and max.async to AUTO and use "NORMAL" Dram timings...no i can actually hit 291 on my TCCD OCCT stable for the FIRST time.
I am sitting on this problem for months already !!!
never gave "read preamble" and and "max.async" that much attention.
btw. i have week 37 TCCD and those suckers need 3V !
Now even trying 291 2.5 3 3 7 ...so far so good....if i manage THIS (instead of 2.5 4 3 7) then i really hit a milestone :)
have done more testing and also playing with some .5x manipulation. finally, 250 in windows, memtest win32 1000%+
tREF from 3120 to 1560, tRC from 9 to 10, DRAM Response Time from FAST to Normal, tRAS from 2 to 6, tWTR from 1 to 2, tRTW from 2 to 3, 10.5x262.
lets see if this holds...
I just can't seem to get dividers to work at all. My 3200+ Venice was Prime stable at 2800Mhz w/ 1.54V when i was using my OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev2 on a 166 divider but now i'm running G.Skill UTT-BH and i've got the HTT set to 280Mhz and i'm trying to run a 150 divider so my memory is at only 210Mhz 2-2-2-5 for now but i just get thousands of errors on Test #5 in Memtest. I had tested my RAM at 220Mhz 1:1 w/ 3V and didn't get any erorrs.
I'm trying out the 618-2 BIOS now with my RAM in the orange slots.
These are my DRAM settings:
150
Enable
2
2
5
2
7
12
2
2
2
3
1560
Enabled
Auto
0
3
1
7ns
Normal
5ns
16
Disable
16X
7X
Disable
Anything i should change? I'm not really sure on the tREF but i kinda doubt its whats causing me thousands of errors but i dunno. At first i sorta thought tREF was RAM Mhz times refresh time (7.8us) but after following the tREF thread in xTreme Bandwidth i'm not so sure it is so i just been using some of the more popular tREF value's people use.
I dont know if the problem is the memory controller on my Venice or if its the motherboard but this issue is starting to get retarded lol.
I wouldn't. Its way too handy to have Memtest integrated into the BIOS and i dont use floppys any more. I never installed a floppy drive into my new system and i dont plan to ither. I use USB flash drives for transporting quick erase data and i slipstream any RAID drivers or anything i might need a floppy for onto my Windows install CD. A floppy drive just adds to the clutter in a case and i rarely ever use it. Overclocking a video card via the BIOS would also be a slow process because you would have to reboot and alter the clocks every time you run 3dmark or whatever 3D program you test with. And i like programs like ATITool, RivaTuner, PowerStrip, ATI Tray Tools and so on.Quote:

Boy, I am trying to get rid of this crappy Bios, I just cannot boot any more in Windows. Man, was I really stupid to try this without first reading others.
PS:
Thank god I got it back to 5-10.
the ps/2 mouse without ps2 keyboard bug is back in 623 bios by the way. :(
Which is best bios for Geil Ultra Platinum 4000 Dual Cahnel 2*512 (Hynx)? :slap:
