So is there a noticable difference between the 3000+ and 3200+, I've seen some failure stories about the 3000+, and I'm really wondering if the 25% price difference is worth it.

Well it's up to you, 200mhz more will be good if you can't clock that high.

I thought these Venices were supposed to hit 2800 on air at 1.4?

They are overclocking slightly worse than, uh, CBB(F/H)D Winnies circa 0441-0448.

My 3000+ does 2748; 3200+, 2728; two 3500+s do 2760: CAA2C does 2880. All on mild water (HC200).

I guess I'll stay put and don't sell. :woot:

Aren't they supposed to have better memory controllers? So now all the LEs are running 300, 2.5-3-3-6 at 1T???

What does EPEW indicate about the chip. Also if I ordered from the EGG and their pics show EPEW will I get an EPEW. This can't happen. I hate crappy overclockers. I've had to many in life. Why dosen't everybody with a Winnie get Phase change stop throwing away money freeze the son of a B!t#h!

It's just luck.

You might end up with a hell of a ocer but might as well get a crappy won't-do-2500 chip.

They don't seem to be getting any better. I bought mine a few days ago because I don't want to be a victim of another CBBID Winchester fiasco. If I were you I'd get one now, or wait a few months for a dual core machine.

i was a victim of the CBBID disaster ! so i didnt take any chances this time, and ordered a 3200+ from NCIX last week ;)

I have a retail (boxxed) 3200 venice on the truck for delivery today. Got it from sparco at $208 to the door, which schpanks the eggs retail (no-deal). I will be posting the datecode/stepping info as soon as I get it for ya.

I do have some thoughts to share regarding cpu's and their ability to OC. The stepping and date codes do make a general difference but there have been some good CBBID winnies as well, although not as many. My understanding (although from an Intel engineer) is that where your core is cut from on the wafer makes a significant difference in the head-room. For example cores cut from the center area will tend have a tighter, more uniform molecular structure than cores cut from the outer 1/2 of the pie and are typically able to handle higher frequencies at default vcore. The wafer itself, where its cut, when its cut.... all make a difference.....

In other words hows your luck?????

Mine typically suks, but I'm hopin for a change....... gotta happen sooner or later..... :clap:

Mine sucks, I think the Egg gets all the outta wafer cores and they ship them to me when I order. :rolleyes:

I have to agree with you man. I have 4X512MB DT-D43 and they don't work with my SLI-D. I was planning to use the 2GB for gaming and keep my VX for benching :mad:

Well there's no need to at this speed. It's COMPLETELY stable. Once I jump into 2.8ghz range I'll up it to 1.5v. Right now I'm happy where I am and I don't want to push my look with this DFI board as

1. I have no prior experience with A64 and DFI boards
2. I am SCARED of this board suddenly crapping out on me and dying right before my eyes.
3. I want to burn in the processor some more and let the AS5 settle out a bit.

But for now, I am a happy camper as I actually think I got a great stepping for once. LBBLE 0515FPAW... IT even SOUNDS good doesn't it? :hehe: :cheer:

Man my winnie can run 300+mem at like 2.2ghz or below...

Air - it's in my sig, using XP90 with Thermaltake Silent Cat 9 (52cfm @ 21dba). Max load is about 49 deg c. I know I should've never even bothered with a venice - but 2.8 looks SOOOO good :) lol

i don't if if there's an anwer to my question already posted....but i'cant boot my 9NDA3+ epox with a 3800+ Venice...is it necessary to update the bios to resolve this matter?
