afaik the asus rev 2 bord has the 1007 bios on it, and in the 1007 bios winchester support has been added iirc.
However the 1007 bios does not seem to lock the agp / pci as I read on the forums here, but the new beta 1008.002 isn't giving my any problems

I have been using an MSI Neo2 Platinum (Nforce3 Ultra Chipset) but sold this in order to use the Asus A8V Deluxe Rev2.
After building the system, I powered it on and enetered the BIOS. The was no sign of my SATA HDD. then saved and exited be there was no starting of windows. IF I pressed TAB when prompted by the SATA Boot ROM I could see the HD in the array of one disk but I could not amaend anything. Then the Promise RAID detects the HDD but says bios is not installed. The PC then reboots.
I have tried disabling Promise controller and that does not help. If I try disabling the "onchip SATA BOOTROM" then the system doesnt get to POST before it says "NO HARD DISK DETECTED".
I have tried using SATA sockets 1 and 2. Aswell as SATA RAID sockets 1 and 2... none of them detect the HDD.
1) As I was running the same system on the last motherboard, do I need to reformat all the volume inorder to get rid of the old motherboard drivers??
2) What can I do for the single SATA HDD to be detected in the BIOS??
3) Does this sound like my HDD is damaged? But it is strange how the BIOS cannot see the HDD yet the Promise controller and BOOTROM know what type of HDD i'm using??

Well you need to make a raid floppy first check your asus cd en make a floppy drive for the raid controler (there two of them) then when instaling windows xp pro click F6 to instal the drivers for your raid controler

is that the case, even if Im only using one HDD??
I am only using one Sata drive and that is the raptor... so I assume that the RAID thing isnot required??

when you change your mainboard its always wise to re-instal a OS on it because the configuration is probely diffrent from your MSI Neo board
Cashman boots off the windows cd and at the beginning press F6 when it prompts you to, to install a 3rd party scsi driver. Then after a little bit, it will go into your Floppy Drive and find the correct sata driver that corresponds with your controller and OS being used.
thanx mate! So I should have a floppy disk that came with my mobo yeah?? put this into the drive when it asks and it will find the appropriate drivers??
SO I do need to reinstall windows again?? even though its already on the HD?
Why is it that every other motherboard allows me to simply plug the Raptor in without any need for installing the drivers!
If you look under control pannel/administrative tools/computer management/device manager/ you should see "scsi/raid controlers listed." click on it and update the drivers using your floppy of whereever you store them.
Now go to computer management/disk management and you should see the raptor. Format if necessary and should be good to go.
Please correct me if I am wrong but I think I have read that you want to use sata slots 3 or 4 since they are the only ones which are locked for your board.

What exactly do you want to know about my BIOS settings ? This is on my A8V board, and you have the MSI...
By the way - it only allows me to boot at 300HTT Max. (no higher setting in BIOS) - I'm pumping it more in Windows....
EDIT: The first question that comes in my mind right now is did you lower the HTT multiplier to 4x or 3x ? (Not the cpu multiplier, but the HTT one... Its on 5x by default - HTTxHTT Multi should not exceed 1000MHz.....)

my rev 2 is stuck around the 240fsb as well
mine is winchester 3500, mem is rated @ 250fsb but board wont boot @ that.

and 1t timings dont seem to work with this bios 1009.02 beta got it from asus.de
when im @ 2.65 ish around 140ish on 3d programs the system switchs off.
htt tried @ 600 and it dont make any difference?
btw runs 2.6ghz @ 1.6vcore 1.7 doesnt get me any more fsb at all

I'm doing 313x8 - that's 2500MHz @ 1.475 with no problems... I Haven't tried 325x8 yet, but i suppose it'll work fine... That's with the 1009.004 bios, had no problems with the 1008 at all! Just play with the bios, it gotta work ;)
you have 1009.004 , he has 1009.002, maybe the locks dont work on his bios version since its an earlier beta than yours...
proxg could u tell us what kind of chip u have on the A8V..i think most cap at 260 tbh...
Well, it's a 3000+ as you know, week 40... I don't remember the stepping...
Anyone having any luck getting the OCZ memory booster to work with this board? The OCZ compatibility chart states not compatible, I realize there is an OVP circuit (3.1vt?) will this work up until that point? I have a new DC kit of 2 X 512 3700 eb's that do 250 1:1 @ 2.8vdimm, tried 260 but would not work. I am currently running them @ Auto with the FSB at 260 X 10, the memory bus shows up as 217, or 6:5 ratio. (in everest)
I have gotten the CPU to run stabily @ 275 but with higher voltage, but I am not comfortable running @ 1.75 on air cooling.
