My buddy got K8N Neo 2 board with 0440 Taiwan chip. In his system, he has Abit AV8 Third Eye baloney (glitching like a piece of :banana::banana::banana::banana: ). Can you guys recommend a bios for this board? He has 2x512MB CH-5 crap.
I want to convince him to keep this board :stick: He's a bit obsessed with that 3rd eye table piece gadget :stick:
Umm, tell him this is about the best board to come around in a long time. And EVERY overclocker is using it. And it is that way for a reason.
Is the CH-5 like hte BH-5 where nforce3 hates it with a passion? If so that blows for him. Though I have seen a few lucky souls who have gotten some pretty amazing oc's with bh-5.
And ask him one question. Do you want your system to crash and have a overzealous table clock, or does he want a fast, stable, overclocking monster? Abit has done extremely well in the past, but this time around they took one in the face and MSI really came through.

You think so for real? I mean I read the above pages and everything seems pretty stellar for these new boards. However, is it possible that ALL the problems will simply disappear from a new nForce3 chip?

He has an FX-55 and he had an ASUS A8V Rev 2.0 which ran his CPU @ 2.8 Ghz but performance was less than stellar. The Abit board was screwing up A LOT and is very glitchy. However, he gets 1K more 3DMark at same settings with it.
What do you guys think - will the MSI perform like the Abit @ same overclock? Or is it all the hidden memory timings which he should tweak with A64 tweaker?

Im now working with 2x256 OCZ 3200 Plat EL rev1.1 (anyone now what chips this is?)
CPU is guaranteed to OC good and the MSI seems to follow ...
can hit up to 360HTT (3x)
and if i use my OCZ Plat the system is ROCK STABLE!
Another weird thing is i can hit enter (and select my HTT) under BIOS !!! no freeze when i select the disired HTT!!!
thats for now, gonna try some TCCD and a booster next week so i can give some more info

dont bother with the booster on the tccd. They dont respond to anything over 2.9. It just reduces the oc sometimes due to the extra heat. But there is an exception to this. It seem there is a new die of the tccd that likes voltage like the bh-5 does but it sill performs like tccd at low voltages. IE: The best clocking ram ever. But I dont know how to get ahold of this. OCZ showed it off, but no word on release. And now im not talkign about the voltmasters. Those are not tccd. They are somethign else.
BTW, nice htt speed. 360 is nuts...
All of the new sticks are the new die of tccd already in circulation.

i've got an msi board if you wanna try it out. (got most of my watercooling parts in today, except for the blocks) it's pre 0439 and i run into what i think is sata corruption above 260, i can run it up to 285 but after an hour or so of use, the comp randomly restarts and i get hd corruption. thank god for ghost. and yes, i've restored a nforce3 raid using ghost booted up from a spare ide drive.
Mines an older board, rev 1.0 and I am lovin this combo to death, currently 3d stable at 275x12...1.75v mach1 unmodded. Notice I'm using an Adapec PCI raid card though, if anyone cares to replicate. :D I have had this CPU comfortable at 3.3 with max voltage but havent pushed it to the ragged edge with this ram yet. I´m not sure I would agree with you about the voltage. I got an early Taiwan board 0422 ...and when I go above 300htt I need atleast 1.6v, above 320 i need 1.7v and and board max voltage at 350htt.Quote:
