Is anyonw having problems with power? To clarify, I have one molex coming from two cd drives, and another coming from a hdd and fdd, should i worry about that? It specfies that it should be plugged from two independant cables :rolleyes:
This is on a ttgi 550w.

you can read all about what happend to my original 6800 NU from asus, when I did exactly that. it basically made my card a hunk of junk, and lost about 30% of it's overclockability, and when flashed back to the 6800 NU, one molex was getting no power anymore.
it was getting no power with the GT mod, but I didnt think anything of it, but after I flashed back to the 6800 NU it definatly set off the alarms.
the card just wasn't the same after...

Damn, that's harsh Kunaak, but there are plenty of people who have done this to their evga 6800le's and not had any problems.
well, its something you really should consider.
my first Asus 6800 NU was nearly useless after trying to flash it with a GT bios.
flashing is nothing new to me, I've flashed this 6800 NU here about 40 times in the first 3 days I had it, finding the perfect combination of speed and voltages.
theres nothing really you can mess up.
just use NVflash 4.42-make a dos start disk. enter "NVflash -p -u -f _____.rom"
Damn you guys are gonna make me buy this, but my parents dont have enough money on there card to let me buy this :(. If only i had my own account i could have already had it ordered. I need a new card so bad omg..I have 437 dollars but i dont think they would let me spend almost all of my money on a video card...maybe im gonna have to go with a 6800NU(which one is the best for price?)
sell your old card to get alittle extra cash.

They won't. My only concern is what they will send as a replacement. What if you got a real le or even worse a 6800. I'd rather have this card than a gt. From what I'm hearing it's in no way crippled like it was previously thought. Most get oc's similar that you would get from an ultra.
they should send something of the same value from this time period...sucks
my guess to why they made these, is not that they didnt pass qc, because people are hitting 450mhz on core and 1150 on mem, but that they made too many ultras and they werent selling so they had to get rid of them.
or its a little bit of both
im just scared of flashing the bios and then for some reason in a year my card craps out and i cant rma caused i flashed the bios
Well, I also have the Gainward Golden Sample 6800 GT card which is so large it hits the IDE sockets specially with cables installed on an NF7-S making inserting the card fully impossable. So if you have alot of stuff going on around the APG slot, size might matter.Quote:

Actually, I talked with some of the QA people over at eVGA when I was getting my Ultra Extreme. They explained the selection process and QA. It's a pretty simple process. I wanted to know how they find the good cards and where the bad ones went. Now I know, and you know ;)
The LE card is still a killer deal. Especially if you put a 1.5V BIOS in the card and watercool it. It should perform very nice for a card well under $400. A bargain in every sense of the word.
The only bad thing is if you get a failed quad on the LE. But, that is where the luck of the draw happens. And, for those thinking they are getting a "real" Ultra hiding in a cheap card, look at it from eVGA's perspective. It makes no sense to sell a back ordered, hard to find card for almost $200 less when there is a line up outside clamouring for the Ultra. Even so, it really competes with the GT's bang-for-the-buck, and basically destroys the regular 6800 NU for value.
if i get a failed quad on it...i would probably "think" its broken and send it back to zipzipzipzipzoomzoomzoomflyflyfly so some noob can get it. yes its a little mean, but cmon social darwinism...ill do it cause i can...and cause im better than all these noobs

yea i want watercooling real bad, maybe ill get it this winter. but i have raptors so it kinda defeats the purpose of no/less noise. one day though...one day...im buying a budgetless computer...before i die!
LOL, most newbies will run this card at the stock speeds. They will never know the cards real potential. Besides, the 12 pipe card, once it is returned, will find its way into a nice 845 based 2.26 P4, 533 FSB , single channel 512 MB system. A nice, happy, slow paced retirement home.
