after building my friend an AMD64 3000+ system, i found that overclocking is a lot harder and much different.
Apparently there is no more multiplier...? I agree this system would be awesome :slobber: with a phasechange cooling setup,
but will it oc as well as a 32bit chip? :confused:

i read online that the multi is locked (or non-existent) so the fsb is the main overclocking tool.
Also one can oc the ht too. As i understand it, it all comes down to ram and its ability to oc (200mhz up to 300).

They reveiw it, acknowleging it is a 64 board yet state it can up the multi to 20....? Everywhere i've read ppl are freaking out b/c the multi is locked or non existent. As im reading it now, it seems the board allows you to select up to 4000mhz which is of course 20*200mhz. That is encouraging considering the sad outlook ppl have had on oc'ing 64's. Just imagine an upped fsb on top of the 4000mhz (20 multi or whatever you can get up to). 20*250 or 20*300?? sorry this is so long, but this is really encouraging, we CAN change the multi after all, yae! I guess i WILL build a 64 system this summer after all. :smileysex

Well we picked it up on ebay for cheap, I will eventially be doing some ultra cold experiments with it. (Sub critical) we need an enviromential chamber and a coldtrap, as well as a good rough vacume pump 25 hp or larger. The heilum Compressor/ absorber is at fuggers office. There is only one compressor but it is considered a four or five stage with the stirling engines and the helium absorbers.

Next year. I would like to take a 1 W risc chip and see if it can run at 10GHZ with superconductors connecting the chip to the MB on the outside of the chamber.. Have to see. I actually have a small chip in a cryo container with a HS conducting pad on the back that is about the right size but to do this kind of tesating I need micro maniluator and some good magnifacation tools, also tools to solder pins and wires smaller than a hum4hair.
