Looking at my benches you have to remember; this is my @work Desktop, my harddrives are loaded with every consivable software program needed for day to day work including an eight PC network.
One of these days I plan on having a separate harddrive just to play with, I have to be too careful with my present setup.
How did you know it defaulted to 166fsb? When I clear cmos, it boots up at something like 100x6... Even with the mod it is doing that...Quote:

System w/ bootup w/ failsafe defaults. Load optimized (don't reboot!) and then look to see 133/166/200/???:D
Did this allow you to achieve higher FSB or did you see no results like AKRedneck? 2600+ mobile arrives tomorrow so since I'm swapping out the cpu I figure I might as well do this mod while I'm at it.Quote:

If I go into bios, and load optimized defaults, it loads up 'XP2500', 11 x 166fsb. Interesting. This is with bios 19 on the NF7-S.Quote:

EDIT: That's with the 166fsb pinmod. Also done the 200fsb pinmod and it didn't do anything either...i think it's worse! Makes sense that the 200fsb mod doesn't do anything.
My NF7-S 2.0 defaults at 5X100 with d20 and tictac turbo d22
Not only the Abit NF7 boards, but others as well. It is easier to reach high total clocks with low FSBs. Obtaining both high FSBs and super high clocks is the challenge. Even my stinky crap m-2400 (only 45mhz better than my Tbred in oc) was able to get to 3000mhz@ 1.96v @ 200fsb with supercooling (226w pelt & -10C waterchilled) in the BIOS.Quote:

Pushing the FSB also affects the CPU. It does put more strain on it. You can't have both goods. One or the other, unless some serious cooling is provided, such as DI, Cryo, etc cooling. The part of reason why Fewture's rig reached a healthy 2,900+mhz@ superb high FSB was due to his exceptional cooling on the cpu. Cooling gives more room to overclock, or higher FSBs. I don't think it's only the board limiting high FSBs, there's more to it than that. It's more complex..

Yes, i could max run 211fsb before, and now i can run 227fsb, thats a big difference. but now i think its my memories thats stops, i feed them with 2.9v. and yesterday i did the pencilmod to my northbridge (1.8v istead of 1.7v) but that didn't do any difference, so i think its my memories that wants more power :)Quote:
